Chapter 40: Chapter 40

Christian Falcon was known for being the most generous, kind, and bright guy of his age, as well as a businessman who accomplished so much at such a young age.

Everyone knew him for being helpful and looked up to him as someone that would always be there for you without wanting anything in return.

He and Lily were always mistaken for being a family, but he didn't mind, because it was something that they couldn't deny, especially since they lived under one roof, and Lily was okay with it, so was Christian as well.

But as soon as Lily decided to get out of the house to live on her own, Christian didn't want to be apart from her and wanted her to be close.

He offered 50% of the house he was renting, and that's how the obsession started.

"What happened? I checked their wardrobe but not one was left, not even in Justine's," Jenny said as she was holding her head.

It seems like it's been days or weeks since the house was full of dust, and Jenny was so sure that even though Justine was busy with Steve, she would never let this happen.

Jenny sat on the sofa covered with dust.

"Couldn't it be... that something else happened to them?"

Christian saw how worried her sister's face was and he couldn't help but be worried too.

Christian's hands trembled, but he turned them into fists to hide them.

"A-are you sure they're not there?"

"C-Can you double check it?"

Jenny was stunned as to why her brother was shuttering.

Jenny arrived at Lily's doorstep just to see that the light in the kitchen was on, but no one was there to greet her, so she was very worried and called Christian.

But seeing her brother's reaction made her feel more distant and unsure of what happened.

Recently, Jenny witnessed her brother acting strangely, but she didn't notice it and thought that it was only because of the business, but this time she was so sure that it wasn't because of that..

It was because of something else.

"I think they just got out to play, don't you think?"

"You should get home," said Jenny, walking towards the door.

"I? You won't you come with me?" Christian asked.

And Jenny removed her thoughts, took a deep breath, and said, "Oh, I have plans for the evening."

"I might as well stay at Harmony's. I hope you don't mind.. "

"No worries, just keep yourself safe, okay?"  Christian said with a smile on his face.

"Do you think I'm that naive, so I won't notice what you're thinking of me, my sister?"

Christian said to himself angrily as soon as Jenny turned her back.

Christian clicked his tongue and turned as Jenny entered her car.

Inside the car, Jenny can't seem to tame herself.

With a trembling hand, she dialed Lily's phone on the pad that was placed in front of her.

There was a long ring that was a signal that her call had passed through Lily's phone, but no one answered.

Jenny decided to park the car on the side walk and grabbed her phone.

[Jenny]: "If something happens, please contact me immediately."

"I'm really worried."

---

Christian opened the door to his room and slammed it. Taking a breath, he was biting his nails.

"Hahahahahahaha!"

Christian laughed like a lunatic, even though he was scared of himself.

Christian remembered how frightened Lily's face that day was and how much he regretted what he had done.

He eventually ran to say sorry to Lily, only to find her in that bastard's arms.

Christian's trembling hands pulled out his phone that was in his pocket.

"H-hello? D-Didn't you say you would send me 1,000,000 USD? Where are they now? I need them! "

The person on the other line laughed and said, "I knew that business people tend to be greedy, but you're greedier."

"Quit with it. I'm not here to listen to your wishy-washy. Send them now or else. "

Christian ended the call and ran his hand through his face.

"How can that asshole win her over? I was with her through those hard times."

"How can she possibly run towards that man?"

"How could it be possible for her not to pick me?"

Christian paused and stood still as he felt a presence on his back, and with a turn, a pointy knife was pointed at the side of his neck, making it bleed.

Christian looked at the man in a black hoodie, jeans, cap, and even a face mask, but he couldn't be fooled that easily.

Christian held his hand and turned his arm around. Eventually, the man dropped the knife.

The guy followed it in the same cycle that Christian did and ended up kicking Christian in the stomach, making him take a few steps backward.

Christian held his stomach but he picked himself up and tried to get a blow but didn't hit.

They were exchanging punches, but Christian's attack was being blocked, and the guy was so furious that he kicked Christian, making Christian fly and making his back hit the edge of the table.

Christian didn't recover that fast to stand up and eventually got beaten up by the guy.

Christian' eyes were blurry as he tasted blood in his mouth.

"Did you know that I can charge you with trespassing?" Christian said, as he spit out the blood that was coming from his mouth.

"Liam. Dawson." Christian said emphatically

Liam just wiped his hand on Christian' shirt and looked around.

"I was a business owner myself, but I never ever once did a dirty service to my employee."

Liam said, as he was simply admiring the accomplishments on display inside.

He knew how important these were to someone with a business, but he didn't give a damn at the moment.

And they held them one by one, breaking one after the other.

Christian couldn't do anything as he was aching inside from his cut and bruise and those trophies he treasured the most.

"N-no..." Christian begged for Liam to listen.

That's bullshit as to why Liam would listen when Christian himself heard it a few times the other day but didn't listen.

"Are you feeling it, Mr. Christian?"

"That's how I felt when you touched Lily..."

Liam kneeled on his leg in front of Christian and said, "Lay a finger or hold a single hair on her."

"I promise you."

"I'll destroy everything that holds you together."

"Everything...."
