Chapter 70: Chapter 70
“What’s this? You're acting strange. Acting like my boyfriend.”
“Oh, that would be going to be true soon. Didn’t that woman tell us earlier that we suit each other?”
I rolled my eyes. Just drive.”
“Do you want anything on the way?”
“No. I’m not going to be long in that house why bother.” I gasped when I realized that I was not able to buy my mother a gift
“What is it?”
“Turn the car back. I have to go and buy a bag for my mom.”
“Oh, I can buy one for her. When will you plan to visit her so we can visit her together.”
“My mom has dementia. Stop acting like you will be staying for long i. My life because you won’t. You’re only going to make my mom confused.”
He just smiled. Silence came as he focused on driving.
“did you just scam me into entering your home?” I said my thoughts out loud as he parked his mercedes benz in the driveway.
“Come inside.” He grabbed my hand, making sure I won’t escape from his clutches and made me enter his house.
Once inside, I prevented myself from gawking at how majestic his house was. Of course its obvious. He’s the richest among the triplets now as he’s the current CEO.
“What do you want, water juice? I’ll ask-“
“Nothing. I’ll just be quick here anyway.” I said, standing in the hallway, “Where’s the ice pack now?”
“No, I insist to give you a drink.” He said, “Tell the maids-“
“But you said I am only here for the ice pack.” I pushed, not wanting to stay here.
“I must make my guests comfortable.”
I scoffed, “You’re just entrapping me to make me stay longer.”
He stepped closer, “What made you think that?”
Theon then cleared his throat, “Arson. Saphira is here.” He yelled and cute little steps were found.
Same blue eyes and black hair. Arson. He had grown a bit taller and lost some of his baby fat. But he still looked adorable.
“Arson, hello.”
His cheeks blushed as he looked at me shyly, “Hello.” He sat beside Theon and covered his face with his hands, seemingly hiding from me.
I blinked, surprised at his faint voice, “He can talk now.” It was in the past and a few years have gone by, he grew up too but from what I could remember, he couldn’t utter a word as he’s autistic…
“Not fully. I took him to countless therapy sessions and took him to top psychologist..and he only had a minor improvement…” explained Theon.
“How old is he?” I asked.
“Eight.”
I glanced at his stature and noticed why he was a bit small, “He’s too small for his age.”
Theon nodded, “He’s considered malnourished. He refused to eat unless he could see you.”
I glanced at Arson who was looking up at me quietly, pursing his lips. “Wow. That’s some threat right there. Using a child.”
“I am serious. I did not even order him that.”
I opened my eyes wide, “Didn’t you miss me Arson? Come and hug me then.”
Arson silently walked to me, gently until he was on my hands. I let him snuggle to me and looked at Theon.
“See? He misses you.”
I nodded. “Yeah yeah, but Why does he only feel comfortable with me?”
“He might have seen you as her dead mother, my older sister who…” he couldn’t even bring himself to say it so I stepped in.
“Oh, I apologize. I didn't mean to...I mean you don’t have to explain, I understand. Condolences.”
We talked for a bit in that position. Sitting by the sofa with Arson snuggling to me and Theon across us as I interrogate him.
Theon has put some ice packs on my cheek even though I insisted on not taking them.
“So, Theon-“
“Shh…He’s sleeping.” He whispered, putting his finger to my lips.
I glanced at Arson below me and saw how comfortable and angelic he was. His eyes were closed now.
I halted, not moving an inch. “What should I do now?” I whispered, not wanting to disturb his sleep.
“Let’s take him to his bedroom. Quietly. And gently.” Theon answered. He then softly grabbed Arson from me and took me to the second floor and a green-painted door. He opens it and gently dropped Arson on the soft bed.
He sighed, “He immediately slept on your arms. I knew that chasing after you was worth it. I have to have you as his nanny.” He stepped outside Arson’s room and I followed.
I shook my head, he’s bringing that up again, “Oh, not me. Again, I am busy, I have to work at the company, I have to go to med school, not take care of a kid! I can barely take care of myself, and with my mother needing me, I already have a full plate.”
Theon nodded. “I understand. I would offer to let you quit the job, pay for your med school, and make your mother live here but that might be too much for you.”
“No, I won’t accept that. I will hate you and never talk to you again if you do that.”
“I cleared my throat, “Are you not even concerned that it was my family who made your brother Rameo’s life miserable?” Now that I see it, it is only him out of the three who never brought that topic up to me.
“No. It was your father. Not you. You didn't know anything.”
I blinked. “Really? Not even an ounce of anger?”
“A bit. But I understand life. I had accepted that I have to lose some things for me to gain.”
I released a sigh, “You lost your youngest sister, and lost your oldest sister. It must have been hard for you.” I couldn’t help but sympathize with his side.
He always seemed busy despite being the same age as the other two. He’s so busy that I only seldom see him. Not that I missed him so much.
“And you had to take on Rameo’s role as the heir even when you were unprepared for it at a young age while taking care of Arson. How did you do that?”
He smiled at me, but something in his eyes looked bittersweet.
“Do you feel amazed then? Are you falling for me?”
I shook my head, “Oh that too. I never knew that you would be this quirky and flirty sometimes. Our first meetup made me conclude that you were strict, uptight and ve try intimidating.”
He gasped, “Is that the reason why you kept on rejecting my offer?”
“No. That’s not part of it.”
He sighed, “Can we stop thinking about that? Also about Rameo, his business is not my business. What I want to focus on is you. What should I do to make you say yes? You told me you want my company over the phone call last time as a deal.”
I bit my lip, yeah, that too. we have to talk about that.
“Yes, and you agreed. Without any hesitation. You know I was just joking right?”
“I am at a point where I don’t care if I lose something not important. So tell me what you want and I’ll give it.”
I quirked my eyebrows, “And your company is one of the ‘not important?’”
“I would give it to you if want.” He said, again with a serious face.
Damn. Boring. Not even an ounce of hesitation.
I rolled my eyes, “Nah, that’s too boring. I want to take something that would be hard for you.”
And managing a company is no joke. I might make it bankrupt if it is in my hands. So it would be useless.
“Like what?”
“Like…” I thought about it but then paused.
“Fine. I’ll give your proposal some thought. But only his nanny, alright? I still have to divorce Matheo.”
I stood up, “I have to go now.”
“Okay, I will give you a ride.” He offered but then one of his men came rushing, all drenched.
“Sir! You can’t go! The roads are blocked. There is a storm outside! It will be bad luck!”
I gasped, “What? How can I go home?”
Theon threw me an innocent look, but that damn idiot couldn’t hide the smirk on his face.
“You are free to stay. I’ll provide a room for you. And Arson-“
I shook my head. “No. then no. This is too much.”
