Chapter 24: Chapter 24

“Let’s talk privately first,” Ajax said grabbing a towel and covering himself. He then turned and planted a soft kiss on my forehead.

“Ellaina, go to the room first. Wait for me there.” He instructed me and I nodded, wanting to listen but it’s best that they might resolve anything first.

I could feel his brother’s gaze pinned on me and I dared to meet his eyes. Just like his brothers, they were strikingly beautiful too. Except this man has a much more commanding and intimidating vibe on him, while Ajax has always been soft for me.

Ajax then sat down on his sofa and spread his legs, crossing his arms in front of him and glaring at his older brother.

“What are you waiting for?” I could hear Ajax’s heard tone asking, “Just spill what you want.”

His brother glanced at me and waited until I get to the door when I heard him pushing a document on Ajax’s table.

I purposely slowed down my steps to hear more.

“Here’s the document about that restaurant that dared to poison you.” He started to speak. His voice was as deep as Ajax’s, but much colder.

I paused at that, not even hiding the fact that I am eavesdropping on them as I turned around.

My eyes met with Ajax, who looked shocked as I do.

“What? You continued suing them without even asking for my opinion?” He asked tone with menace now.

“Brother-”

Ajax instantly stood up as he grabbed his brother’s collar, matching his eyes.

“Theon.” Ajax said sharply, “I told you not to touch that restaurant you fool.”

His brother scoffed. “Fool? Brother, I just did what has to be done.”

“But that is out of your business.” Ajax fought back, his hold on his brother’s collar now tighter.

Theon fought back and pushed him away, trying to fix his tie, “Even if I did not do it, the father would eventually do it.”

Ajax’s jaw clenched at that, now frozen in his spot. “So he knows about that incident. Tsk, how unsurprising for him.”

Theon nodded, pursing his lips, “You know how many eyes he has. Don’t take him for a fool although he’s old. He even went to my own woman yesterday and tried to warn her so I thought he must have already come to you too.”

Ajax nodded, “He’s old yet he has so much energy to mind his son's businesses.”

They both made a pause at that comment, followed by a deep chuckle as their stance relaxed.

I blinked, surprised at the sudden shift of the atmosphere. How come they are laughing now when they were just close to slicing each other’s throats earlier?

Ajax patted his brother’s back, “Thanks for the warning man. But you purposely came at this time to catch me, didn’t you?”

Theon rolled his eyes and pretended to gag, “Ew, brother, I just came at the wrong timing.”

Ajax scoffed, “Well, try doing that again and I’ll slice your throat.”

I can’t help but frown at these two brothers talking just in front of me. How come they would come from threatening each other, to laugh with each other the next time?

I guess this is how they bond.

“But man you need to come home. Father is looking for you.” Theon suddenly brought up and that made the smile on Ajax’s face disappear.

“Tell him I said fuck off.” There was a fire on his spit as he spat that. How could he just curse his brother like that?

Ajax must have hated his father too at this point.

Theon gnawed on his teeth, “Tsk, that is why he doesn’t want to give you some of his land titles.”

“I do not care, I’m already rich enough even without his help.” He said proudly and suddenly his mood changed again, “I know him. He’ll just send me to blind dates here and there.”

“Are you sure? Or do you just want to stay with your woman here?” Theon teased him and Ajax cleared his throat, agreeing to his brother's statement.

“That too. And I do not want to not have any other woman with me other than Ellaina.”

My heart skipped a beat as my breath hitched just hearing my name suddenly come from him like that. Why would he drop that so casually? Right in front of his brother? and knowing I am still here in this room?

“I see how serious you are to her…” Theon trailed off, “But what about-”

“I’ll make sure to do something to that restaurant.” Ajax suddenly cut his sentence off. “Brother, I advise you to step back from here on. I’ll handle everything now,”

“Are you sure that you can handle it?” There was doubt and uncertainty ringing in Theon’s voice and I waited for his reply.

“I can. I know myself more.” Ajax said with a hundred percent of certainty.

“Is that all that you want to say to me? You could have just texted me.” Ajax said in annoyance and Theon nodded.

“I am not that familiar with phones,” Theon responded and Ajax put his hand on his brother’s shoulder.

“Psh, keep reasoning yourself out. Either you’re too old or just wanted to see my handsome face personally.”

Theon shrugged his shoulders, “I admit, I was a bit…worried for you brother. After you’ve been poisoned, I don’t see you going to the gym nowadays.”

Ajax shrugged, “I’ve been kept busy by someone.”

I know his eyes were on me now and I instantly closed the door after myself and did not want to hear the rest of their conversation.

I should have just left earlier because hearing him say how serious he is to me suddenly felt too…unreal. As if someone was clutching and gripping my heart tightly and I couldn’t breathe.

I went to my room to change for something presentable. I wore grey sweatpants and a gray hoodie to match it and then went to the kitchen and waited for Ajax to finish talking with his brother.

But when I see that only his brother Theon came outside, I frowned.

His brother smiled at me in greeting, “Hello beautiful one.”

I forced myself to smile, knowing he just sued my favorite restaurant. Tsk, how could he do that? Damn this man.

“Good morning, sir.” I greeted back.

His intimidating gaze softened and raise his eyebrows at me, “Sir? Do I seem that old for you?” He paused and sighed, “Just call me Theon, we already met last time too so no need to be formal.”

I nodded, “Theon then.”

“Good. So, Ellaina….I know you heard everything there..” He started, grabbing my chin to make me look at him.

“You’re a model, aren’t you?” He asked and I nodded.

“I see, I thought you were some kind of witch.” He commented and that triggered inside me.

“Excuse me?” I fought back, taking that as an insult, and was about to retort back when he beat me to it.

“Yes, a witch. Please, I don’t know what he ate or what magic spell you cast on him to not listen to anyone other than you but please help me convince him to see our parents.”

I blinked. Is he…requesting something from me? And to convince Ajax that he should talk to his parents?

“Why?”

His hand started to caress my cheek, “You entered his life, you’re now a part of it too.”

I gritted my teeth, clenching my hand as he said that. How dare he have the face to say that? “He was the one who entered my life, Theon. So no, I won’t do what you ask me to.”

“Drop your hands or I’ll cut it, brother.” Suddenly, Ajax’s cold voice sliced through the air, “Now.”

Theon’s gaze was on me, breathing deeply as he nodded. He then dropped his hands, just as Ajax ordered, and smirked at him.

“Easy brother, I was just talking to your woman.” He said, raising his hands in surrender. “I have no intention of stealing him from you,” Theon added.

Ajax instantly came to my side and grabbed me by the hips and snaked it around my waist. “You see, I do not like seeing someone’s hands on my angel. Now leave.”
