Chapter 16: Chapter 16

His lips suddenly formed a smirk and grabbing my hand, he planted a soft kiss on the back, “Come to my place Ellaina. With me, I promise no one can dare to harm you.”

I gasped, what? What is this man’s plan?

I frowned at him, “Wait a minute, you are suggesting I should live with you…?” I clarified in case I heard it wrong.

He nodded, still grabbing my hand with his, “Yes. Until the situation is settled, Ellaina. I am not forcing you, but I am just suggesting the easy way out. I assure you, a guaranteed 100% safety there.”

I scoffed, pushing his hand away, “No, it was because of you that I have a dating scandal in the first place. If you didn’t appear in my life like that then I must have just been living and now on my shoots.”

And it is too much for me. As someone who came from a conservative family, it’s not normal to live under the same roof with someone that is not your relative or husband.

And with Ajax’s case, he is neither. He is just some random billionaire who popped into my life, claiming that he has been infatuated with me since I began my career.

I shook my head, “No. I won’t accept this.”

Ajax pouted, “It would just be temporary. And Ellaina, I promise I won’t touch you.”

“Promises are meant to be broken, Ajax I am not sure if you would attempt to do anything to me, just like what you did at the hospital.” I brought that out.

I mean, I hate to admit this but I am partly scared of what he’ll do to me. The things he would do to me in the future, and the things that I would let him do to me.

My heart is weak, and romance is not for the weak.

I just came from a recent divorce for goodness sake. although I said I already moved on, my body is still in the process of moving on.

“I promise I will put a reign on myself, Ellaina. Now are with me because sooner or later, your place is going to go down with all those reporters.” He said, motioning to the scene below us.

I glanced, seeing the reporters slowly subsiding and leaving the building.

“It’s not always that my brother and bodyguards are here. Plus Sir Joel is the only guard here, no one other than him can protect you, Ellaina.”

I gritted my teeth, knowing he is right. “Then prepare a paper, no a contract then. A promise that you won’t touch me now, or in the future.”

He grinned at that, “Even if you’ll want me to?”

“Yes, oh no.” I answered, “That won’t come to that point.”

Because I know full well that I won’t let another man enter my life again. I already swore to myself and the heavens.

Ajax sucked in a deep breath, “You seem to have full trust in yourself. You’re dealing with me, Ellaina, No one has managed to stop their desires with me.” He leaned in, whispering to me but I stood still, fighting back his stare, “Well then, you still haven’t met someone like me who can do that.”

“But just to give you assurance, I’ll let my lawyer handle the contract.” He said.

“Alright.”

“Do you have more complaints?” He asked, and I shook my head.

“No so far.”

“Good girl.” Ajax then gently grabbed my hand, as if I was a delicate flower as he glanced at his wristwatch, “Just in time, our service is waiting outside.”

I looked at the clothes I am wearing now. I guess I should change clothes. “Then I’ll pack my clothes and-”

“No need for that.” He said, “Your sweatpants are enough. I already have bought you clothes in my place.”

I blinked, “What? You already have?” Did he already plan it out before even telling me?

I wasn’t able to ask further as he then guided me on the elevator and pressed the 20th floor, which I believe is the rooftop. I glanced at him, “Shouldn't we go down to the parking lot where your car is?”

He let out a deep chuckle and his chest rumbled, “Who said I’ll let you ride a car now? We’ll be using the sky, Ellaina. I don't want their cheap eyes staring at you like a pest.”

True enough, when we reached the rooftop, a helicopter was waiting for us. My hair was everywhere as the strong wind was there. Ajax grabbed my hand while we approach the helicopter. I could see a man in a pilot uniform waiting for us. I think I have already seen him somewhere, or he must have been one of Ajax’s friends last time at the gym.

“Ajax!” The pilot greeted and once we reached him, Ajax greeted his friend. “I’ll kill you if you just called me for nothing.”

“Wave! I am glad you came, man.” Ajax said, “Well, technically, it is an emergency.”

The man glanced at me and back at him, “Emergency? Fuck, I don’t see any, Ajax, other than having a date with your girl.”

Unlike Ajax’s other friends, this man named Wave was much more serious.

He clenched his jaw, now looking angry, “You know I am not a pilot but you asked me to drive your heli.”

“Let’s just talk later, for now, you have to transport us to my house.”

“Fuck you, Ajax.” He cursed, which shook me a bit of how loud he is.

I instinctively grabbed Ajax’s hand and Ajax noticed it. He glared at him, “Stop cursing, you know my girl here is flinching.”

He glanced at me, “I apologize, miss. You’re Ellaina right? I’m Wave, and I advise you to leave this damn bastard before getting tied with him.”

He then stared at him deadpan, “Did you know I left an important case just for this, man? You owe me this one.”

Ajax just laughed at his friend and smacked the back of his head, “You know I hold your secret, and I won’t hesitate to tell your wife about your secret.”

With that, Wave stopped and gave up. “Get on.”

Ajax escorted me into the helicopter and with him beside me, we finally flew off. The ride took 15 minutes to the helipad on top of his house.

He then talked with his friend for a few minutes before letting me in his house.

Looking around, I notice his house looked all fancy with the furniture. The black, white, and gray interior suits him. It looked minimalistic and modern.

“Welcome home.” He said.

But one thing I noticed is this one thing.

It looks…empty. And lonely.

There was no one here and just looking at it, I could hear the deafening silence.

“You don’t have a maid?”

He breathed for a minute, “No. I have maids and caretakers here for my house here in the Philippines, it’s just that I specifically let them have a day off.” He answered casually.

“Whoa, I didn't know you would be the considerate type.” I joked and he played his eyebrows playfully.

“Well, I did that too so I could get to be alone with you.”

I lightly hit him in the arm with his jokes. As of now, I seem to get a bit used to his jokes directed at me.

He then suddenly toured me around his house, to the pool outside, to the inside gym, theater room, it was all third floors with only one person occupying this whole space.

“Don’t you feel lonely living this whole space for yourself?” I asked, and he paused for a bit to think.

He sighed, “I sometimes feel that that is why I was glad that you agreed to stay here…even if it is only temporary…and you don’t know how much happiness it gave me…”

I nodded, sensing the sadness lacing in his tone. Since he was a billionaire he must have been alone his whole life. It must have been hard for him.

He decided to stop at a room on the second floor and pointed at the room in front of us.

“Here’s your room. It’s just across from mine so if you get lonely at night, just knock on my door.” He winked.

I nodded, “Alright, I will make sure to lock myself at night then.”

He snorted, “Tsk, I’m sure it would be you who won’t survive. You’ll soon give in to my charms, Ellaina.”
