Chapter 55: Chapter 55

Chapter Fifty - Five

Linda

*One week later

Dust had settled. What should have happened had happened. The worst had been done and both sides had lost a lot. Especially from the wolves' side.

Twins had returned with me back to their home a week ago but they had not spoken to me since then. They had completely stopped talking to me. They had ignored me since the last time we talked. They probably were preparing themselves when I eventually won't be here. Maybe it will help them practice my non - existence.

It is almost funny to see how time flies and we lose ourselves to it every day. More than two months had passed since I first met them, in a flash. I saw everything change right beneath my eyes.

My life had turned upside down completely. In the last two months since I got to know about my pregnancy. Many things had changed.

Right after it was announced that I was pregnant, I was kept under tight security. Everything I did was monitored, every single move I made was kept under check. Maybe it was because I was carrying the future Blood Moon Pack but, also maybe because they wanted to make sure I did not pull up another stunt and run away.

Twins behaviour was changed on another level. From the day of the announcement of my pregnancy, both of them had stopped talking to me. Like a switch was turned off. None of them ever came to meet me. Whenever we crossed paths they ignored me and it was then, when I realised how much I loved them.

Because every time they ignored me and my baby, it felt like I was getting gutted alive.

Soon my baby would be welcomed into this world and I would say goodbye to it.

My thoughts wandered in different directions and I stared outside my window. It was nighttime and the sky was dark. It was filled with stars and the moon. All the stars shone like small diamonds in the sky. Like they always did.

I was not sleepy, nor was my mind at peace so I decided to take a walk outside in the jungle. I hopped off my bed and walked out of the room.

I saw that four guards that were supposed to protect me were sleeping outside the door. Adan was among them.

For some reason, he never left my side. Even when twins turned their back on me. He never left me alone. He made sure that I had everything I needed. Even before I asked for something, he brought it to me in seconds.

I felt my heart ache in both pain and adoration. I was so thankful to have someone by my side while the people I thought would be my side, left me stranded alone.

I let them sleep, seeing no reason to wake them up and got out of the house.

Outside, the air was a little cold and the weather was a little windy. I stopped in my tracks and drew in a deep breath. This weather reminded me of the day twins came to rescue me from those men. Without intending to, a small smile creeped up on my face. I remembered that day vividly. I remembered how cruelly handsome and beautiful they looked that day.

Like two men sculpted by the god itself.

I remembered how many thoughts flashed behind my eyes that night, before I fainted.

I opened my eyes and those memories faded into the wind. Goosebumps rose around my arms. I rubbed them and hugged myself tighter. The chill of the air felt good. It reminded me of the feeling of being alive.

I walked a little inside the woods. The smell of the soil increased and became heavy, as I started to walk inside. I walked a little inside but stopped in my tracks. I thought I heard something.

Concentrating, I tried to hear for any movement or any sound but got none. It must have been my imagination. I shook the thought off and took another step. However, this time I heard it loud and clear. It was someone's muffled crying for help. Someone younger.

My hunter instincts took on and I focused on the sound.

"Help..." A very soft voice called out. Asking for help.

It was coming from deeper inside the woods. I began walking towards the direction where I thought the sounds were coming from.

As I walked deeper and deeper inside the forest, I heard a shriek. The sound was instantly muffled. My heart began racing at the muffled sound. I fastened my pace and followed the voice.

My feet carried me until I found the river that divided the Blood Moon Pack territory with the rest of the woods. The water was running in a slow rhythm. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. My eyes did a quick scan of the place and I saw it.

A shadow of a figure, dragging a child-like figure away. It was then I realized who it was. I walked over to the figures carefully, without making any sound. When close enough, I spoke.

"Master. Let him go." I told him calmly. Master had a teenage boy named Parker, the teenage boy who used to get beaten by Cary and Logan. Master had his head in a headlock and had his mouth covered with his other hand.

Parker was struggling like a mad man, his eyes frantic and wild. He looked at me helplessly, pleading with me, using only his eyes as he could not open his mouth.

"I knew you would come. I knew you would come to save a helpless person. That's why I kidnapped him." He told me, his words holding a note of urgency in his voice.

Which was not a good sign when it comes to my master. I raised my hands and tried to calm him down.

"Master, calm down and let him go." I told him.

"They killed everyone. They killed everyone and now I have no one. Except you. No one is alive. It's me and you again, like old times." He told me before tightening his hold on Parker's neck. My body tensed when his clutch tightened on Parker's neck. My forehead furrowed in confusion. His words did not make any sense to me. Nor did his behaviour.

What was he talking about? Who killed who? And what did he mean by 'I have no one'?

"What do you mean by that?" I asked him. He looked around me frantically and then back to me.

"It's your mates. They found our hideout location and hunted us down. They killed everyone. Every single one of us. Now, I have nobody left on my side. Except you Linda." He told me. The shock registered in slow waves to me as I slowly understood the meaning of his words. Twins killed everyone from my clan?

Hunters?

When?

How?

How come I never got the news? When did it happen? How the hell did they even manage to find their location?

A whimper of pain escaped from Parker's mouth and it caught my attention. My whole body tensed, sensing the danger. Master was not in his right mind. First, I had to extract Parker from his hands safely. Otherwise, things could turn up ugly.

He looked Crazy. Crazy with capital C.

"Master, I think you should let him go first and then we will talk. But, let him go first." I told him, and hesitantly, took a step in his direction.

He tensed and pulled Parker back into him, making Parker make a gurgling sound.

"No! First, tell me that you will come with me and leave everything behind you." He told me. My pulse picked up at his offer. How easy would it be to just run away with him? Me and my baby could start over, and could live an almost normal life.

"I know about your pregnancy. We could get rid of your baby and start over just like the old times. Come with me and we will start again. We will build our clan again. Together." He said. My hand went to my stomach. I realised for the time in my life, how badly I did not want my baby to get hurt. I loved my baby. Maybe even more than my own self. Any thought of something happening to him sent shivers down my spine.

And at that moment I realised how selfish my master was.

He always wanted revenge. He always wanted to rule over people. Especially wolves but hunters as well. He was so selfish in his desires that he was even ready to kill my baby.

No.

No way.

Whether I die after giving birth to my baby, my baby will still live. He will not suffer from any of the pain because of me.

"You know, I cannot do that. This is my life now. I chose this life. I can't come with you. And I can't kill my baby. It's mine." I told him. His wild, red eyes moved downwards on my stomach and he snarled.

"No. You can't keep the baby. It is THEIR blood. Do you really want to give birth to a monster? A monster who has their blood? The disgusting blood of wolves?" He asked me. His eyes full of disgust as he stared down at my stomach. A shot of anger ran through my veins at his insults towards my baby.

"He will be like them, Linda. He will be just like them. Once he grows up, he will become a wolf and he will hunt us down. Us. Hunters. The people who gave you shelter, fed you, protected you and cared for you. You can't let that happen. He will become like them and he will hunt us down." He told me. He was frantic but he had valid points. His words, his concerns were real. He was right. I was a hunter and was so damn proud of it but I could not just kill the baby because he had wolf blood.

If he or she had the wolf blood in them then they had my blood in them as well.

"If you won't kill it then I will." He told me. My eyes widened in shock at his words.

Will he kill my baby?

"But before that, I will kill him..." He said out loud and pulled out a silver knife from his pockets. Parker started struggling when he saw the knife.

I reacted in a hurry. My hand grabbed my master's hand and pulled it away, freeing Parker from his headlock. I pushed Parker away, out of the reach of my master. However, I lost my balance and stumbled into Parker's place. I didn't even notice or feel the sharpness of the blade when it sliced my stomach open.

Everything happened in such a rush that I was unable to fathom what had happened. Adrenaline rush and the beating of my heart drowned everything.

My knees wobbled and I fell onto my knees. Unable to believe what happened.

I stared down at my stomach and let out a scream. The sound of my scream did not register to me. It did not even sound like mine. It sounded foreigner, even to my ears.

My eyes darted up and I saw the horrified look on my master's face. He looked stricken that he actually hurt me. My eyes moved behind him and I saw twins.

They looked at me then at my stomach. Both of their eyes flashed. Anger burned in their eyes like lava and in a flash they were beside me.

Through my dizzy eyes, I saw their mourning faces. I glanced behind them and I saw wolves after wolves emerging from darkness. They all circled around my master until one jumped in the air and ...

James' face blocked my vision. He shouted something over his shoulder. My eyes darted to my side and I saw Michael trying to put pressure on my wound.

This was the time I realised.

This time I won't be able to survive because beside my baby, I had no motive left to live.

With my shaking hands, I placed my palms on both of their faces. Both of them turned to look at me.

They were as beautiful and mesmerising as the day I first met them. Beautiful, handsome. Any girl would be lucky to have them both.

I smiled at them through the intense pain I was feeling.

"I love you." I told them. My eyes filled up with tears.

"I love you both. Forever."
