Chapter 15: Chapter 15

"They are getting married," Aireen lazily dropped the news to me.

I put down the sketches I was making for my clothing line's next designs and just stared at the laptop's display. I gave my friend a long, hard look before laughing incoherently. Unable to believe what she had just told me, I couldn't help but shake my head.

"So, what's your plan? Are you going to . . . let them have their happily ever after?" She cringed at her own words.

I rolled my eyes at him and then adjusted my seat. "Their stomachs are really strong, huh? After what they did to me?" I gritted my teeth, and took a deep breath.

"What else do you expect from them? Shame on the body will grow." She rolled her eyes, too.

I didn't immediately say anything. I crossed my arms and leaned back on the swivel chair I was sitting on. Thinking.

"I'm going to ruin it," I uttered nonchalantly and looked at Aireen seriously.

Her lips automatically grinned. "How?" she asked curiously; the excitement in her tone didn't escape my ears.

I gradually released my arms and then fidgeted with my fingers on the table. "I will bear Zachary's child," I answered, which made her jaw drop.

Aireen blinked a few more times while staring at me. She opened her lips to speak but could not continue. Later, she let out a sigh.

"Are you sure about that?" she asked. "There's no turning back once you make him your freaking sperm donor."

My lips twitched at her words. "It's not like I can ruin their relationship easily," I stated. "So, why not force it to be destroyed?" I chuckled.

Aireen shook her head in disbelief. "You're crazy. I mean, you fvcking loathe him."

I just sighed and then took the whiskey that was on the side of my table. I filled the prepared glass and brought it to my lips. I smelled the liquor for a moment before gulping it down.

"He's a professor, right?" I confirmed.

Aireen only answered me with a modest nod.

I smiled before putting the glass back in its place. "As far as I know, a teacher can't have a relationship or have sex with his student, right?"

Aireen's eyes narrowed as she looked at me, seeming to confirm what was playing in her mind. I gently licked my bottom lip, then smiled at her again.

"Getting married to the sister of the person you got pregnant with is also not visually appealing, is it?" I added.

Her cheeks puffed out in surprise. "So, you are hitting two birds with one stone."

For the nth time, I shrugged my shoulders and then poured my glass for another drink. "It's the easiest way to ruin them all." I chuckled, revealing lines of joy.

My senses were jolted back to reality by the brisk wind on my face. I was driving on the open road at a high speed. My car's window was open, allowing the breeze to freely strike my face.

My eyes narrowed when I noticed the fast car behind me. Gradually, the plate number printed there became familiar to me. The sides of my lips raised spontaneously, and I doubled my running speed.

Gone mad, Zachary?

We chased each other in the middle of the road. He tried to drive to my side—his loud horn was also constant—but I ignored it. I smiled when his car ended up behind me again.

I accelerated my speed once more. When I was a few meters away from him, I simply stepped on the brake. My tire squealed loudly, but his was louder. Even though he tried to avoid hitting me, it still happened. His car skidded sideways into mine.

I watched him get out of his car from the side mirror, even though I was a little dizzy. He almost ran the distance between the two of us. I wasn't surprised when my car door opened.

"Are you okay?" His voice almost trembled as he examined my whole body.

I was stunned there. I didn't expect that. I watched his pale face as he continued to check on me.

"Atasha. Damn it! Answer me. Does something hurt you?" He said it again.

I got back to my senses and then pushed him away from me. "Get lost, Zachary. Stop pestering me," I said without emotion and was about to close the car door, but he quickly stopped me.

"And what? You'll drive fast again?" he yelled frustratingly.

I couldn't help but laugh at what he said.

What is this? Another scheme to gain my trust? What an overused disguise!

"Why did you follow me? You should comfort your fiancée. She might be crying with joy because of my gift," I said sarcastically.

His jaw tensed quickly. "Are you really pregnant?" he asked seriously.

"Wanna check out my upcoming checkup, Zachary?" The corner of my lips raised, challenging.

He didn't answer and just kept looking at me. I was about to close my car door again when he blocked it again. This time, his face was unreadable, although there was a ghostly smirk on his lips.

"Do you really think your pregnancy favors you?" he asked.

Both of my eyebrows met slowly while I stared at him. We both looked at each other. Later, he grabbed my wrist and forced me out of the car. We are facing each other now, sending death glares at each other.

"Atasha, you overestimated yourself," he mumbled, closing our distance.

My jaw clenched when he caressed my cheek while staring coldly at me. "I admit, I was surprised by your news. But guess what, Atasha?" He chuckled mockingly. "I really wanted you to get pregnant."

My cold aura disappeared and was replaced by confusion, although I didn't show it. I couldn't quite follow what he was saying. I tried to form in my mind what he wanted to point out.

"What do you mean?" I asked emotionless.

He smirked.  "Has the news not reached you that your sister will have trouble conceiving? She has polycystic ovary syndrome, Atasha."

"And what do I care about that, Zachary?" I removed my arm that he was holding and moved away slightly. "But thank you for telling me; at least now I know that karma hit her again."

I know it's bad to be happy about other people's misfortune, but that's what she deserves. After what she did to my baby, she has no right to be blessed with the thing she stole from me.

The playful grin on Zachary's lips reappeared. "Then tell me, Atasha. Between us. Who does your pregnancy favor?"

I couldn't answer right away, as I was able to piece everything together little by little. I stared at him intently while gritting my teeth. He just gave me a cold look.

"You will stay with me from now on until I get my child, Atasha," he declared.
