Chapter 66: Chapter 66
“Well, I am waiting, mother-in-law! Are you here to help me uncover the truth or to help your son and his whore cover their sins?” Mitch screeches again.
Poor woman! I pity Liam’s mother somehow, but a greater part of my being is so furious at her for allowing herself to be used by these people. How can she bear for this bitch to speak to her in such a disrespectful manner, huh? She has no respect for the woman who is the same age as her mother. I wonder why Mrs. Adams has to subject herself to this humiliation. Why does she have to bear all this?
“You don’t need to remind me why I am here. I got it all clear.” She defends herself.
“Then explain why you are doing the exact opposite of what I expect of you. What my family and I expect from you is to help us unearth the dirty secrets your son and these whores are hiding. But your actions are contrary to your expected goal here.” Mitch says this while Liam and I watch the charade in shock.
It seems like they drew another contract for this or something. I mean, this bitch is so fucking bold as she commands Liam’s mother. It seems like she has her in her palms, controlling her in every direction that she deems right for their selfish, uncouth gains.
“Your problem is that you don’t listen, nor do you give people enough chances to express themselves, Mitchell. And I suppose that is why you could not even keep your husband in check because he had to result to bringing another woman into this house.” Liam’s mother speaks. Now she seems like she has had enough with Mitch. Her motherly senses are awake.
“How dare you? How can you blame me for your son’s over-the-counter mistakes and infidelity, huh?” Mitch squeals, fuming with anger. She feels threatened by Liam’s mother and betrayed as well.
“It is always the responsibility of the wife to make sure her husband does not feel the need for other women. Tell me, Mitchell. What exactly did you do to try and keep your husband? Did you even do anything? When he asked for a child, did you listen to him? No, right? You agreed to this absurd idea, and now you are reaping the bitter consequences of your actions.” She speaks now, like a mother, but is still holding back. Perhaps because of the agreement that is tying her here.
“Well, I am Mitchell Edwards. I wasn’t born a beggar; I had to degrade myself to that level just to beg a man to stay. He knew the rules well, and besides, you people should be the ones begging us and submitting to everything we ask of you. Not the other way around. I think you are growing old and starting to forget things, woman." Mitch mocks.
“Watch how you talk to my mother, Mitch. You know I…” Liam wanted to defend his mother, but she raised a hand to stop her. Why? Is she okay with being insulted this way, much worse, in front of her own son? “Come on, Mom! You are letting these people take advantage of you too much!” Liam scolds.
“It is alright, son. I can handle this.” She says.
“How, Mom? By letting them control you like this? Insulting you any way they like? Come on! We don’t owe them that much of a gratitude to let ourselves be reduced to this bulshie.” Liam says.
I agree. I mean, they already paid the price by selling their son to them, and he has had quite a fair share of problems. All this discourtesy is unacceptable and uncalled for.
“Come down. I know what I am doing.” That is all she could say after her son tried defending her and speaking some sense into her.
Liam gives up. What else could he do?
She turns to Mitch. “As for you, Mitchell, I pity you so much if this is the kind of woman you really are. I am not in support of my son having an affair out of wedlock, but I also don’t think I can blame him. Your talk and pride show exactly why my son had to look for peace somewhere else.” She says.
“Which was not supposed to happen? He was supposed to stay loyal to me until the end of the deal, which is eternity.” Mitch says it firmly, like a rotten b*tch.
“And you were supposed to do the same, or is there something that we don’t know? Because being husband and wife meant you both had to contribute equally to make this work. Right?” Liam’s mother asks.
“I have been doing more than I should have by putting up with his infidelity, don’t you think?” Mitch says. She never lacks something to say, even if it means taking you around the circle a million times.
“We are talking about what brought about this so-called infidelity and surrogacy thing. Look me straight in the eye and tell me that you had nothing to do with the start of all these, Mitchell!” Liam’s mother dares, and the witch freezes on her spot.
Mitch swallows hard and sighs deeply. “I have no time for interrogations. I guess I should just call my family and inform them that you have taken your son and his mistress’s side, and you are all ganging up on me.” Mitch says as she rummages inside her bag and pulls out a phone.
She acts like a child. So immature. Or maybe it is the catch that she is working for that is driving her to be so savage and immature. How can they treat us this way?
“Not so fast.” Liam’s mother says this as she snatches the phone from her.
“What the fu… You have already made it clear whose side you are on. I have just realized that my parents and I were damn so wrong to come to an understanding with you. Now I need to inform my parents about this unexpected and unforgivable development, so hand my phone back.” Mitch screeches. Her ass must be itching with the excessive glee of being at the top of this new game.
