Chapter 612: Chapter 612
The Primary Divine sisters launched a relentless assault on the Chaos Dragon God; however, at its level, destroying the physical body alone wasn't enough. To truly kill it, they had to destroy its consciousness and shatter its soul.
Since it had just reawakened and broken free of the Divine Tree’s restraints, it might have stood a decent chance against the Divine Tree in a 1v1, but a 3v1 was an entirely different situation.
The dragon god revived itself within the sea of Light and Dark energy, only to be crushed over and over.
At one point, even though the Six-Path Flower told the Divine Tree to rest, seeing the Chaos Dragon God’s current condition, its pent-up anger welled up, which repeatedly tempted it to join the fray.
Speaking of the Chaos Dragon God's condition, it was getting continuously worse. Its screams reverberated through the air and instilled fear into those who heard it.
This campaign against the Chaos Dragon God made Lu Ran feel like he was making a huge positive impact on the world. Just like when he defeated the Evil God, this battle would ensure that peace would settle over the world for ages to come.
Even if Lu Ran were to disappear one day, the impact of his deeds would remain long after he was gone.
"I should send the Divine Dragon kin on a long vacation one of these days," Lu Ran muttered to himself.
They would have a real opportunity to rest once the continent’s situation was stabilized. It wouldn’t be some short break like the Divine Turtle’s maternity leave.
From the pile of flesh and bones, the Chaos Dragon God's voice gradually grew fainter. This brought great relief to those watching the battle. The broadcast screens turned to face Lu Ran, who hadn’t moved since the start of the battle.
What should have been a fairly evenly matched battle between the Divine Tree and the dragon god that would’ve engulfed the continent in turmoil ended up as a group beating. It was so one-sided that Lu Ran's familiars were able to set aside some effort to keep the battle’s impact contained.
Seeing the Chaos Dragon God's demise, Ji Yuan, a top powerhouse of the Beastmaster Era, breathed a deep sigh of relief.
"I never imagined that the Chaos Dragon God that was so intent on ruling the world would one day die at the hands of a necromancer." Ji Yuan's emotions were complicated.
Although he disliked him, Lu Ran slew both the Evil God and the dragon god. Either accomplishment would be enough for him to be enshrined in history.
At this time, Lu Ran instructed #18 to shut down all the surveillance equipment in the area. Once that was done, it sucked out all of the Chaos Dragon God’s blood. The dragon god's core resource was its blood rather than its heart.
Lu Ran’s team had been pummeling it for so long, and its blood was the only thing keeping it alive.
[Description: A Divine-grade resource. A drop of blood that is capable of annihilating any living thing or item below the Primary Divine grade. If absorbed, the user would acquire a dragon bloodline of the Superior Legendary rank, should it survive the process.]
This description was quite self-contradicting. Beings below the Primary Divine rank couldn’t withstand the impact of absorbing it and would likely die in the process. Beings of the Primary Divine rank already had their own Primary-Divine-ranked bloodline, so they didn’t need it unless they were looking for a new attribute.
"#18, is there any way you can help Sudden Death King absorb this blood?"
Lu Ran thought that the Primary Divine #18 should have a solution.
"Let me see if I can purify it."
Sudden Death King was eager to try absorbing the blood, but it was equally afraid of dying during the process.
After the battle, Peanut and Ji Yuan stood off in the distance. The main body of the Divine Tree was no longer visible, but its branches still wove through the air.
It gazed in a certain direction with a certain sense of melancholy before finally turning to the Six-Path Flower.
"Will you join me once more? Without the Chaos Dragon God, the evolution of plant life will no longer be constrained. The Plant Era is about to dawn."
The Six-Path Flower shook its head.
"I'll stay with this guy and help him become the Lord of Limitless City. Once he succeeds, we might have a chance of reviving the Void Grass."
The Six-Path Flower had already witnessed the might of Limitless City.
"Hey, you old tree, don't try to abduct my Six-Path Flower. What's so great about starting some crappy Plant Era? How ungrateful! I just helped you kill the Chaos Dragon God, but this is how you repay me?
"Why don’t you become my familiar instead?" Lu Ran asked.
The Divine Tree remained silent. Fınd the newest release on novel~fire~net
"It doesn’t have to be a permanent arrangement. You can become a mercenary of sorts and only come when I need you. Once the fighting is over, then we can cut off our contract," Lu Ran suggested.
"I’ll think about it." The Divine Tree didn't agree right away.
Lu Ran shook his head. He was hoping to have the Six-Paths Flower persuade it. In preparation for the final secret realm, he kept a few contract slots empty. He would be a lot more confident going into the secret realm with the Divine Tree at his side.
Lu Ran moved and started to clean up the battlefield. The ground was littered with the dragon gods’ blood, bones, and various organs, all of which were extremely rare and valuable.
It didn't take long to gather everything up. Once they were done, Baby Cloud nudged Lu Ran, reminding him that the Light and Dark Gods were still alive in reality. It was clearly hungry again.
Lu Ran patted it on the head.
"You already reached the Primary Divine rank. Even if we hunt them down, they won’t be for you."
"The Light Core should go to #18 to be used as an energy source. This will allow it to ramp up production speed.
"As for the Dark Core, it should go to Dark Crow so that it could further improve its legion. Dark was originally one of its core attributes. Even though it’s been integrated, it hasn’t just disappeared.
"Even though Dark Crow won’t be able to fully utilize it like you would, it should help push it closer toward becoming a Primary Divine."
Baby Cloud nodded obediently. It quietly consoled itself by thinking that it wouldn't starve to death from skipping a couple of meals.
Lu Ran’s team never had an internal dispute over resources. This was in part due to the fact that they were so well fed. Most days, they wouldn’t even bat an eye at Epic-grade resources.
This was, in turn, possible thanks to Lu Ran’s constant exploitation of Limitless City. Otherwise, he wouldn’t keep up with the upkeep either.
Having framed out a plan, Lu Ran prepared to set out for the Light and Dark Gods. Since they’ve done it before, they had a clear understanding of their target’s strength. Even though they weren't in peak condition, they didn’t hesitate to head out after bidding farewell to everyone at the scene.
Meanwhile, in the Federation's headquarters, Mechanical Leader looked up from his seat to see Elf Queen and Divine Throne walk in.
"There's no need to think about keeping Lu Ran in check anymore. Let’s focus on catching up with Blue Planet."
Elf Queen and Divine Throne didn’t have anything else to add. They had given up as well. They never even figured out Lu Ran’s special ability. Judging from his strength, it must be something very terrifying. The three Primary Divine familiars were an entirely separate problem.
"What should we do about the people who died from Dark Crow’s curse?"
"What else can we do that? They should have known that the Six-Path Flower can sense evil thoughts. They really screwed themselves over big this time. They were a threat to the Federation’s safety and will be treated as such.
"Ever since the Federation Era started, every time the Federation proactively eliminates potentially dangerous beasts from the surrounding area, a group of people pops up and protests. They will clamber about potential beast tides and raise public outcry against the leadership. This has happened multiple times, and every time it generates a lot of public unrest. This is a failure in our leadership."
Divine Throne and Elf Queen remained silent. This was the only way. What was the other option? Go to war with Lu Ran over a bunch of idiots dumb enough to curse at such a powerful individual?
"Strip the citizenship of anyone who wants to get revenge on Lu Ran and expel them from our territory. If they want to die, then they can do so on their own instead of dragging down the entire nation. Although I don’t think anyone is dumb enough to go that far.
"In short, we’ll maintain the existing cooperative relationship with him."
Mechanical Leader was exhausted. He predicted that Lu Ran would call him soon to extort more protection fees. He feared that Lu Ran would ask for a truly exorbitant price this time.
In reality, Lu Ran didn't care about the protection money since he delegated the job to Manager Ying. Once he killed the Light and Dark God, Lu Ran immediately began researching a vast array of Legendary and supernatural resources.
No amount of money from the Federation could be more useful than a boon of top-tier resources.
Inside a training secret realm, Lu Ran was contemplating his next move.
"The Chaos Dragon God is dead. Next, we need to prepare for the final secret realm. It’s a massive undertaking, so we’ll need to be patient."
His familiars circled around him as he took out the Legacy Stone.
[Legacy Stone (One-time use. Can encode a beastmaster or familiar’s ability and easily pass it to another lifeform.)]
This was the reward for clearing the ascension mission, where he first met the Divine Tree. Lu Ran handed it to #18.
"Make a few copies. It’s perfect for passing Six-Path Flower's Limit Breaker trait to everyone on the team."
Six-Path Flower had already experimented with it previously. While it wasn't perfect, it was able to transfer about 10% of the trait's power onto a new subject. 10% might sound low, but it would still be of a lot of help to everyone on the team.
Additionally, Lu Ran also gave #18 the Chaos Dragon God's blood along with the Light and Dark Cores.
"You want me to clone the blood as well?"
An angel and devil popped up on each of #18’s shoulders.
"No, we can't beat the Six-Path Flower and Baby Cloud. We’ll be crushed!"
In the end, #18 accepted its fate. It actually enjoyed this process, but constantly reproducing resources had turned out to be quite a tedious chore.
After that, Lu Ran made several more arrangements.
Captain Doofus took the Divine Imperial Seal to practice its Limitless Sword Domain.
Dark Crow continued to self-harm and create clones. During the process, it replenished its strength by consuming the Dark Core.
Six-Path Flower sent those who committed serious crimes and harbored evil intentions to its Hell Domain. One could never have too many sacrifices prepared.
Lu Ran also sent his soul clone in a spaceship to the edge of the universe to get a first-hand account of the Black Mist.
