Chapter 63: Chapter 63

Kaya’s POV

His eyes dissolved into pitch black, the type of darkness not even midnight could compete with and I froze to my spot.

He reached out and took out the knife from inside him and I gasped as the men around took a step back out of shock.

Then he began to grow, and change. He towered over us and I could feel my heart refuse to beat as he turned into a beast, one I had never seen before, his hands into literal claws and his once soft groans turned into growls, his sharp teeth mirrored only one thing death.

I watched like a robot stuck on reboot as blood was spilled everywhere, some splashing on my clothes and face, could here was the men's yells for mercy, as tears freely rolled down my face, a head rolled to my feet, the fourth goons and I couldn't breathe anymore.

Then it all stopped. I looked up from the blood that drenched my clothing at the beast before me that slowly turned to me. It stood there watching me and I knew I would die. I would unnaturally like these men.

I wouldn't die road meat, nope I would die a runner.

I found myself screaming as I run for dear life out of that ally I sprinted. Home! I wanted home. I could hear it, thinking behind me. The least was after me and I run, I ran like a mad woman, not daring to look behind lest I faint and I die.

I run all the way home flinging the door open, "Aunt Lily!" I yelled in full on panic she wasn't in the kitchen not in sitting room, I heard voices upstairs and I quickly run to my room swinging the door open panting like crazy.

I was meant with the faces of Aunt Lily and Ally who were seated on my bed, "Kaya! What happened to you?!" Aunt Lily asked probably seeing all the blood on my clothing, I couldn't start to explain, not before I hugged them and knew I was safe.

I flung my arms around Aunt Lily breaking down into crying and she hugged me tightly. I could feel her heart racing.

"Kaya, kaya baby?" She eased rubbing my back. I sobbed into her shoulder loudly. I felt so vulnerable

"Kaya? Are you alright?" I heard Ally ask softly, I tried to calm myself in order to explain.

"Where is this blood from? Kaya are you hurt?' Aunt Lily asked urgently. I shook my head wiping my tears but new one's kept rolling in.

“She’s so shaken up, Ally go get her some water" Aunt Lily ordered

"No!" I said grabbing Ally’s hand. I had not closed the door when I ran up the stairs, maybe that thing would still be there.

"Kaya?" Ally asked confused and concerned....

I turned to her shaking my head, “you were right! Rough about legion! He isn't human! He is a beast and he killed those men and I c-cant" I trailed off my voice was a mess as Ally’s eyes widened at my revelation.

Aunt Lily held me at arm’s length smoothing my hair, "Kaya? Baby? Tell me what happened"

I shook my head, tears running down my cheek, " he said I should meet him, and then he didn't show so I went to the ally we met before and there were these horrible men, they were going to do things to me and they almost did but he appeared, " I explained as best as I could through my tears.

"Who appeared honey?"

“Legion,” both Ally and I said at the same time, I looked at her and nodded, " he came and he saved me, but he turned into this big, big, big, " I emphasized his hugeness, "beast, with huge teeth and claws and then he killed them, real bad auntie, he cut off his head and ripped another man in half and I-I ran" I replied feeling Ally’s presence near me.

Aunt lily looked shocked for a moment mirroring Ally’s expression before hers dissolved into something more realistic, “honey, you are shaken, you need to get some rest okay"

"You don't believe me?!" I asked blinking hard through my tears.

"Of course I do honey,” she lied hugging me.

"I believe you" Ally replied softly and I didn't miss the steel look Aunt Lily threw her,

I broke free from her hug gripping her arm urgently, “Aunt Lily, I wouldn't lie to you, you know I don't make up stories"

She nodded brushing my hair, "no one says you’re lying Kaya, we need to get you changed and call the police then-"

I lost track of whatever she was saying and froze starting at my balcony window. We were all going to die.

"Miss L-Lily" Ally stuttered out pointing tow what I was looking at.

Aunt Lily’s eyebrows hunched before she slowly turned around. She let out a short horrified screech when she saw the beast.

Seeing is believing.

They were three scared out of their minds ladies in my room at this moment as we started at the beast that stood behind my balcony door.

And it was half open. I wonder who opened door because I distinctively remembered locking it before class this morning. Well that didn't matter now.

We all watched in fear as the beast used its large class to push the balcony door open.

I gasped as it fitted its large body through the door, my heart was now pounding, drumming like an ancient song in West Africa.

Aunt Lily pushed Ally and I behind her protectively, the door was at the other side of the room and I watched hopelessly as the beast moved to block it half way.

I could feel all three of our shaking bodies beside us anticipating the next move. Aunt Lili looked like she was about to faint but had to stay strong for us.

One thing I knew.

None of us could believe what we were seeing.

Then it released a growl like roar that left me wondering if beasts ever brushed their teeth. His furless body was splashed in blood and he was wearing tattered pants.

He growled again and again three times causing me to wonder if he was going to kill us already, it had been five minutes, more than enough time to butcher the hell out of us.

It growled one more time taking one huge step towards us and I could feel the floor shake.

Aunt Lily pushed us back as the beast took another step growling, I glanced at Aunt Lily, maybe this would be as good as a time to tell her I loved her, she was honestly the best aunt ever and I was sorry I brought the beast home so he could kill all three of us. It would have been better if only one died.

I glanced at Ally thinking about how I should tell her what a good friend she was and how she had obviously been right about everything and I should have listened more, but i stopped myself as I studied her face. She didn't look very scared anymore, actually she looked more confused.

She glanced at me suddenly and our eyes met, "Huddle up!" Aunt Lily yelled over the growls but Ally touched her arm, "Kaya, go to him"

Both Aunt Lily and I snapped our heads at this, "he wants you, go" she repeated.

"Are you mad?! She isn't going anywhere! If we die we die!" Aunt Lily defended as the beast growled louder. I couldn't help but agree with Aunt Lily, but then again to save them both I would rather risk my life

"Of course! But he won't hurt her, have. He just wants to talk! To talk to Kaya,” we both looked at her like she was mad. And she knew this how?

Her eyes shifted uncomfortably, " I-I don't know how but I can understand him, he doesn't want to hurt us," She trailed off still sounding unsure of herself.

Aunt Lily looked like she was going to smack the girl but something told me to listen. I slowly looked at the beast before us, he was starting at us, no at me intently as if anticipating my every movement. He did save me in the ally and if he really wanted to kill me he had plenty of time to do it. I refuse to believe I out ran this powerful beast.

"Aunt" I said softly causing her to look at me, "I'll go" as soon as I said this the growls stop and Aunt Lily looked from me to the beast.

I could feel my heart beating rapidly as I broke from my Aunts protective hold and took slow very unsure steps toward the beast. I was tiny, very tiny compared to him. He was bigger than anything I had ever seen and taller.

I approached him and felt my legs begin to wobble and my confidence wear thin, doubt with each step as I became locked into his very eyes.

I may just be feeding myself to the beast.

I stooped a foot away from him breathing hard, my height only reached up to his waist like form. I stood there as he hovered over me, I could feel his hot sour breath fanning me and my heart was beating faster than I ever thought was possible.

I shut my eyes tightly trying to muster all the strength I could. Heck, I didn't even know what I was doing. Calm him.

That's all I needed to do. He wanted me right. Well here I was. Maybe I wasn't close enough? I took a deep breath in relaxing myself, to calm him I needed to be calm too.

My eyes still shut tightly I leaned in reaching my hand out. Then everything was quiet and I couldn't even here the beast breathe causing me to doubt myself.

Then I felt something hard yet smooth under the palm of my hand. I willed myself not to open my eyes focusing instead on the texture I felt beneath my fingers trying to keep myself from panicking.

I slid my palm against the skin all the way down and felt him purr, rubbing himself against my hand. This made me suddenly relax and I didn't feel so scared anymore instead I focused on the texture beneath feeling it change slowly.

I heard a few gasps from Aunt Lily and Ally before I felt a hand cover mine gently. I opened my eyes slowly and came face to face with legion, he gave me a half smile and I couldn't help but smile back my hand still caressing his cheek, his face dissolved into pain before he suddenly pulled me closer collapsing on my shoulder.

"Legion!" I yelled horrified, I felt blood seep through my clothes and I froze.

It was then I remembered he was hurt.
