Chapter 160: Chapter 160

The car quickly departed.

Tian Xiang watched the increasingly distant family members, feeling an ache in her heart.

Meng Cheng’an held her hand and silently accompanied her.

There weren’t many cars at night, and the trip was smooth without obstructions, reaching the train station in less than twenty minutes.

The driver also assisted with carrying their things, only leaving after seeing them to the entrance.

They entered the waiting room, found a place to sit, and had just arranged their luggage when Tian Chuying came over.

"Sis, you’re on this train too."

Tian Xiang was momentarily stunned, "You too?"

Tian Chuying nodded, saw Meng Cheng’an looking over, smiled and said, "I’m sitting over there, I’ll head over first."

Tian Chuying quickly walked away.

Meng Cheng’an opened a thermos and gave Tian Xiang two sips of water, whispering to her, "Lu Feng is also here."

Tian Xiang followed his gaze and sure enough, saw Lu Feng sitting in front with someone and large luggage, likely classmates or fellow countrymen returning to Beijing.

Those two also noticed them, Tian Xiang, upon looking over, also glanced in their direction.

Tian Xiang only glanced briefly and didn’t pay further attention.

With school about to start, the train to Beijing ran just twice; meeting people was normal.

After sitting in the waiting room for about ten minutes, the group went to the platform for ticket inspection.

They had bought sleeper tickets, so they could sleep for a while upon boarding.

While waiting on the platform, Tian Xiang noticed Tian Chuying behind her, Lu Feng ahead—not surprisingly, everyone was in the same carriage.

Indeed, when the train arrived, they all boarded the same carriage.

Seems they all bought sleeper tickets.

Meng Cheng’an boarded first, then turned to help Tian Xiang.

Their tickets were procured by Meng Cheng’an via Director Lin, both were lower berths, facing each other, very convenient.

After arranging their things, Tian Chuying came over and told Tian Xiang she’d be two spaces ahead, advising to reach out if needed.

Tian Xiang smiled and nodded.

After completely breaking ties with the big family for more than a year, both sides hadn’t contacted over festivities or holidays, clearly ceasing familial relations, but upon meeting occasionally, initiated greetings would be reciprocated, just like ordinary neighbors.

Late at night, with nothing much to do, they tidied up and lay down directly.

Tian Xiang, being an early sleeper at home, felt a bit sleepy.

Meng Cheng’an couldn’t sleep, half-lying as he stared at the bed above, occasionally glancing at his fiancée.

On the forward berth, Lu Feng sat idly on the bed.

He also had a lower berth, with a fellow student above him.

Both studied Chinese, though in different classes, they were from the same area and got along fairly well.

The fellow student, also unable to sleep, climbed down to chat with Lu Feng.

"Those two earlier, are they the golden boy and jade girl from your Mechanical Factory?"

At first, people were skeptical about Tian Xiang and Meng Cheng’an’s relationship, thinking Tian Xiang must be out of her mind.

Despite her strong work abilities and good looks, she ignored many outstanding young men to choose someone with a poor background.

Later on, when the Meng Family made a comeback, public opinion shifted quickly, praising them as a golden boy and jade girl.

The person was not from Red Fifth Street, unaware of those events, only knowing about these two individuals.

He previously did not understand what a golden boy and jade girl were like, but upon seeing them today, surely their reputation was justified.

The man handsome, the woman beautiful, worthy of the title golden boy and jade girl.

Lu Feng could not bear hearing outsiders praise Meng Cheng’an and Tian Xiang, glaring at the fellow, "Luo Hao, you are in the Chinese department, yet these two are quite mature. How can you not know the appropriate usage of golden boy and jade girl?"

Luo Hao smacked his lips, "I was just repeating what others said."

Ji Feng sneered, "Use your brain, don’t blindly follow others’ nonsense."

Just casual words, yet this person took offense.

Luo Hao studied him, "You’re not also interested in her, are you? They say she’s the factory flower, and seeing her today, she’s truly beautiful. With such a stunning colleague, liking her is quite normal."

Luo Hao’s words barely landed before Lu Feng kicked him, irritated, "Get back upstairs, I’m sleeping."

Well, seems it might be true.

Luo Hao was not offended, chuckling as he climbed up.

Lu Feng lay down wrapped in the sheet, but despite the rhythmic sound of the train, he couldn’t sleep, turning over repeatedly. After finally feeling some sleepiness, the person on the opposite berth started snoring, making loud pig-like sounds.

Lu Feng completely unable to sleep, promptly sat up.

He checked the time; it had passed 3 a.m.—the deepest, darkest part of the night.

He glanced at the pitch-black window outside, suddenly feeling an urge to see Tian Xiang.

He knew where those two were located, having previously noted it.

Lu Feng didn’t understand why, but ever since Tian Xiang and Meng Cheng’an got engaged, he had been intensely mindful and longing for her.

Previously, he also liked her, which he was well-aware of.

However, this affection was for her beauty and capabilities; despite his reluctance and regret when she declined, he never clung stubbornly, considering he had many other ideal women around him—some cute, some gentle, those he also liked.

At that time, though he desired to win Tian Xiang over and was making efforts, he was also entertaining others; his heart wasn’t solely hers.

But, once she became engaged, his mindset abruptly changed; looking at those women around him now, he found none attractive, not only homely but unbearably plain and uninspiring.

In any case, he couldn’t like them one bit.

In less than a month, Lu Feng cut ties with all those women surrounding him.

Strangely, the women who had once been fully committed to him unexpectedly accepted the split and moved on, starting new relationships or directly proceeding to marriage.

Lu Feng felt a bit hurt then, truly an unfeeling bunch.

Nonetheless, it was of little concern since he no longer cared.

Afterward, Lu Feng focused all his energy on work and study.

He wanted to prove to Tian Xiang that he was the most outstanding, unlike a useless person who could only attend university through family support.

It seemed the heavens were aiding him, as he awaited an opportunity from the college entrance examination and smoothly entered a university in Beijing.

Surely Tian Xiang would notice how outstanding he was.

This holiday, Lu Feng visited the factory several times, appearing casual and just for a stroll, but his true intention was Tian Xiang.

Unfortunately, she remained cold, not sparing him even an extra glance.

Unable to sleep, Lu Feng’s jealousy and hostility were escalating.

Previously, he could only find ways to vent on his own, but tonight...

Just a few looks would do!

Lu Feng put on his shoes, supporting himself on the bed frame as he headed over.

In a middle compartment, where Tian Chuying had a lower berth, she put away her book and prepared to lie down, coincidentally spotting Lu Feng passing by outside.
