Chapter 26: Chapter 26
Chapter twenty four.
Zack's pov.
By the time we reach home, Susan has fallen asleep. Her enthusiasm to ask about James' personality earlier wore off when the breeze attack her in a soothing way.
She groans when I wake up her up, tapping her by her shoulder.
"We are home, already?"
"Yeah." I answer with, and she rubs her face. It is plain night when we arrived. There was traffic earlier, busy humans with cars filling the tiny, helpless road. Due to the dark clouds in the sky, there are no stars. Even the moon barely shine down.
James is out of the vehicle, helping us with our baggages. I alight when sure that Susan is fully awaken, and go to help James.
As we pack the bags to a side of the trunk, Susan gets down, and stretches. "I don't think I'll be having dinner, I'll just go straight to bed."
I won't allow that, especially not when James' got her food to eat tonight. "James got you some foods to eat, you know, to relax since we might feel tried to cook or order..." I trail off, hoping she grabs the remainder.
She gapes for a second, "oh, that's so lovely. Let's get to eating then." She smiles.
"Oh, actually, I will be leaving now." Says James, and I nod. If he has to leave, he should start now, but...
"Can't you, maybe, if you don't want to stay here, lodge at an hotel for the night?" Truth be told, I do not want him to leave just yet, and even apart from that, thinking about it, it's just not nice for him to drive alone out there. He'd be bored, worn, and could get in danger. I've learnt some bad happenings that streams with travelling late at night, and with everything being dark, it just doesn't favour him.
Susan snickers, her sarcasm bringing our attention on her. "Are you joking right now? Is he joking?"
"It doesn't look like it..." Such perfect time for her to be joker that asks that non-jokers who's the joker.
Okay, my thoughts are thrash now.
"Hey, come in, and let's eat, we have got to talk as well. No one that cares for you would want you to travel that far back to your place." She reports, and walks up to the front door, ending the discussion, finally putting it on stamps.
"She's got you hook." I add in, and plus one more sentence. "You hosted me once, let me do you back the favour."
The sound of the door opening, and left wide enough for us to carry in the bags calls my attention. And once again, she's managed to let the boys carry all the stuff for her.
Fifteen minutes more, we are done with settling the bags and cases to where they are supposed to go. While we did that, Susan prepares the dishes.
The night passes on, and now Susan has gone to bed. I practically have to carry her to her room since she slept off in the dining room right after eating her food.
When we first started, she asked James about his life, excluding some part that he doesn't want to answer, or that she thinks might be indulging. She prepared us hamburgers while both of them discussed.
And right after then, she just rest back on her chair, and was driven into the dreamy world.
I lead James to the guest room, where he will be sleeping for the night. Everything that's been happening since seems just like it has occurred to me when I arrived in James' home. He is holding his door open as we talk.
"Are you still leaving tomorrow, or what?"
"Yes, I have to go back to Uncle, you know, to take care of him. It will be un-nice of me to just let him be by himself." He looks down to his feet. I understand him, there's no worry in that.
My tongue makes a smacking sound against my mandible. "Okay, tomorrow then." I want to turn when suddenly my name rolls off his tongue.
I turn to him, as he declares. "Sleep tight. And don't forget to lie down." I smile, remembering that time when he told me this same words.
"Shut up, and go to sleep." He chuckles at that, and closes his door, entering. I smile back at the closed door before going to my own room.
In my room, I decide to go to bed as well, and unpack tomorrow.
