Chapter 19: Chapter 19

The next day was faster than all of them could ever admit! The birthday of Princess Bella! Everyone had started preparing so early, to beautify, dress, and look stunning. But the birthday girl was moody since she set her eyes on Uncle Lot. There wasn’t anything she hadn't been told that she listened to regarding her birthday. She already knew what would happen.

She sat around friends, four of them were royals from other kingdoms or their parents were rich. Only one came from a poor background, she was her right-hand friend. Carolina was a good friend to her. And she loved her above all the other girls.

Queen Lina walked in with all smiles. And danced toward them with a birthday song. All of them except Princess Bella were singing with her.

But Bella frowned, not happy at all.

“Bella, what is wrong? But we have discussed all this…” Queen Lina said as she saw that Bella wasn’t happy.

“Mother, can father call off the birthday party?” she said and there was shock on every face that was present.

“Call of the birthday party?” the queen asked in disbelief.

“Yes, mother. Brother’s life is very important. You…” She tried to explain but the queen cut her short.

“Bella, are you crazy? Do you know of many dignitaries that have arrived and some have already arrived since yesterday. Do you know that Princess Diana and Michelle Morgan arrived the day before because of this? Yet you are saying we should cut it off. This is so weird, Bella,” the queen attacked her.

“Mother, I knew what I was saying. Is the party more important than the life of my brother?” Bella said which only angered the queen.

“Did your brother tell you that he was dying? I just called him and he said that he will be around with his newfound lover.” The queen said which only brought more fear into her.

“What! No! Mother. They both must not come to the party.” Bella insisted but the Queen only got mad.

“It seems that talking to you makes you more adamant, I need to see the caterer. You friends of Bella, take care of her.” the queen said as she walked out of the door after hissing.

Bella and her friends watched the queen walking out. Bella looked shocked as tears gushed from her heart. Nobody believed her, she thought. It was still morning and there was still enough time to prepare because the party would start in the afternoon, through the night until the next morning. There wouldn't be any dull moments.

She just hoped to see her father, the king. But she knew that it wouldn't happen until the party started. She thought of sending one of her friends but she doesn't know the ration of her father would be if he knew that she send a friend to him

“I need help. Who can deliver a message to the king for me secretly?” she asked and the friends looked at one another.

“What do you mean Bella? You know how risky that will be.” Kenny, one of her friends said.

“I know that it is risky but I need the message delivered.” She insisted.

“Okay, I will do it,” Carolina said which only put shock on the face of others including Bella.

“Are you sure?’ Bella asked.

“Yes, very sure.” She said She knew that since she met Bella her life hasn’t been the same. Bella had been a great help to her both in terms of academics and in cash. So such a task will be easy for her to make.

“Wow! Okay,” Bella said as she stood up and walked to a drawer, opening the drawer. She brought a notepad and a pen. She walked back to the bed and wrote some words and wrapped them. She handed it over to Carolina with a smile.

“Make sure that no one sees you giving the king and more so, do make sure you hand it directly to the king and not anyone.” She said and Carolina nodded. This wasn’t new to her. She was also a smart kid.

She walked away and Bella kept hope alive. Waiting for the outcome of the king's decision. Not that she expected any decision from the king but she would have told him that she warned him if anything happened afterward.

Carolina walked toward the king's Chamber. She already knew every part of the palace. This was her tenth time coming into the palace.

She knew the nook and cranny. She saw a guard watching over the king's room directly. She smiled. She walked to him.

“Good morning, Jim,” she said and the guy looked at her.

“Carolina, good morning. What are you doing here?’ the guard asked.

“The princess called for all the guards regarding her birthday celebration. She told me to stay over and guard the king’s chamber and you should come to her room right away.” She lied. And the guard burst into laughter. She thought that he wasn’t buying her lies but his words afterward made her chuckle.

“Are you man enough to guard a king?” he asked but Caro only laughed at his foolishness.

“Why can’t I?”

“You tiny thing…” he said but Carolina only frowned.

“You better tell that to Princess Bella. Will you go now or I will return to her and tell her that you refused to come.” She said as she attempted to leave but the guard pulled her back.

“Oh! Not so, but I would like to see you before you return back to your home. I have something to tell you.” He said as he winked at her. Carolina knew what he intended to say but she had to play along because she had a mission to accomplish.

“Okay then,” she said as she watched him leave. She chuckled and just prayed Bella played the game along with her.

She made sure that she checked everywhere for any eyewitnesses. After making sure that she was cleared. She opened the door carefully and quietly so as not to wake the king if he was still sleeping.

As she walked in, the view in her front startled her. She meets the king all naked.

“OH!'' she exclaimed as she drew back. She was about to open the door. But the king beckoned her to come.

"Come!"

Will she go to the king? Read on and comment.
