Chapter 603: Chapter 603: The Head-to-head Battle

It was the first time Zen had encountered a second-level war lord after becoming a war general.

In spite of this, Cheryl and the other Demon Night members, as well as Olivia and the other human warriors were not overly concerned about him.

Back then when Zen was only a level ten war fighter, he had already successfully defeated Boris who happened to be a level ten war general. It was well-known to everyone that Boris possessed powerful abilities that enabled him to be considered as the strongest divine-level talent in the two sacred places of the ogre. The early-stage war lord might not be a match for Boris.

At the present, the orc war lord seemed to be impatient. As soon as he finished speaking, he grunted while lifting the two huge axes from his back, and rushed towards Zen.

As a matter of fact, all of the orcs were short in stature, and the orc war lord in front of Zen was not even tall enough to reach Zen's chest. However, what they lacked in height was made up in other aspects. The bodies of the orcs were sturdy, and their blood energy was far stronger than other races. For the orcs, injuries and fatal wounds were nothing to worry about, as their healing abilities were much stronger than other races.

Upon seeing the orc war lord charging towards where he stood, Zen sported an apathetic expression on his face as he pulled out a long sword from his space ring.

The moment the spectators observed the scene, they were immediately stunned by the appearance of the long sword in Zen's hand.

“This guy has changed his weapon again?” a member of the audience asked.

“His previous long sword is at the low-grade of sacred level, right? His current sword…”

“It is a top-grade weapon! It's a long sword at the top-grade of sacred level,” one of them mused before continuing. “That guy must be very wealthy to possess something like that…”

In reality, a top-grade sacred weapon was rare indeed even in the sacred place.

As a supreme master of the Demon Night, Amber would not lie to Lavender. The long sword that Zen had and the weapon that Amber used were the only two top-grade sacred weapons left in the Demon Night.

Across the Sea God Continent, only the Flaming Ogre Sacred Place and the Dread Ogre Sacred Place respectively possessed one top-grade sacred weapon. Furthermore, there were only two top-grade sacred weapons in the Heavenly Feather Sacred Place. As for the Purple Heart Sacred Place, although there existed only a few middle-grade sacred weapons, there was not a single top-grade sacred weapon.

“Aooo!”

As the orc war lord dashed forward and prepared to strike, the forceful energy within his body exploded forth, emitting a vibrant black light. The sound of a beast-like roar reverberated throughout the walls as the orc attacked.

The axe in his hand shot out from his grasp and circled high in the air, leaving a visible arc before it directly struck towards Zen as his back was turned.

All the while, the orc war lord was also firmly holding a battle axe in his hand as he remained in front of Zen and swung it at him in full force.

What his opponent had intended to do was to attack Zen simultaneously from the front and from the back. The might of the battle axes were formidable and powerful, so if Zen were not careful enough, he might be chopped into two.

For the meantime, Zen was still eerily calm. Despite the sword in his hand, he did not bother using it to defend himself, but instead made a backward somersault above the air. As if he had somehow activated a second pair of eyes behind him, he accurately dodged the axe which flew towards his back and kicked it out of the way.

Right after, the spiraling battle axe was now spinning faster than it had been a moment ago. This time, its momentum led itself towards the incoming orc war lord.

Without much preamble, the orc war lord grinned hideously and then caught the battle axe with his hand, like he had planned to do so all along. Just as Zen was about to land on the ground after his flip, the war lord's forceful energy erupted a second time and started to rapidly approach the young man again.

“Savage Slash!”

With a shout, the gigantic axe swung out a beam of scarlet-gold light, tearing through Zen's shadow and intending to disintegrate it into fragments. As he did so, the orc war lord laughed maniacally and roared out, “Break into pieces for me! You cannot withstand a single blow!”

In actuality, this was the usual case for the orcs. Once they started to feel the thrill of a good fight, they became extremely out of control!

Within a mere moment, the orc war lord unleashed dozens of strikes, all deliberately done to inflict harm on the warrior. When he stopped to gasp for breath from the effort it took to land all those attacks, he looked up and dumbfoundedly discovered that Zen was standing not far away. There was not a single scratch on him as he stood there safe and sound, staring back at the orc with amusement dancing in his eyes. 𝙍ᴀꞐỘ𝖇Ěꞩ

As expected, this was the power of the Space Law. No matter how powerful one's bodily movement skills were, they could never compare to something like this!

“It seems like Zen is not weak at all!” one of the creatures mused, amazed at the display of Zen's Space Law.

“I'm afraid that even an average middle-stage war lord may not be able to defeat Zen!”

In response, another audience expressed his opinion, “In that case, the only ones who can probably suppress Zen in the Tower of Sin are the top-level war lords!”

Indeed, many of the creatures in the Tower of Sin thought highly of Zen. After all, Zen was just a first-level war general that had accomplished great things thus far. One of the main reasons as to why Zen could resist the second-level war lord was that this particular war lord was merely an independent warrior, not from the orc sacred place.

In the Central Region, many independent warriors were much stronger than those who came from various sects. This was due to the fact that independent warriors' strength grew more and more powerful and ultimately greater by totally relying on their own abilities. Although the sect warriors did possess some sort of sect inheritance, their battle experience was significantly inferior to the proficiency of independent warriors in that area.

On the other hand, in the Sea God Continent, when it came to sacred places, the inheritance one might get was more important than battle experience.

Furthermore, most of the warriors of the Sea God Continent had climbed up in the Tower of Sin after defeating numerous warriors from all kinds of races. Even the warriors from sacred places did not lack combat experience, so the independent warriors of the continent were substandard when compared to the geniuses of the sacred places.

For that reason, it was relatively easier for Zen to deal with this second-level war lord than to fight against Boris.

Despite this, if he somehow faced a war lord from the sacred place, Zen reckoned that he could at most only defeat a second-level war lord or a third-level war lord. If it ever so happened that he encountered a fourth-level war lord or a war lord with a much higher level, he had to try his best to dodge and even flee the match. After all, his cultivation base was far lower than theirs.

In the end, this was also the reason as to why Zen did not choose to advance into the next floor. On the eleventh floor of the Tower of Sin, Zen could indeed earn more points, but he would also have to face some war lords he could not easily defeat.

There might be even more chances to acquire Lucky Light on the eleventh floor, but the risk was too high for Zen. After all, the amount of Lucky Light was just a bit larger than that of the tenth floor. Therefore, it was a wiser decision for Zen to accumulate it on his current floor. Moreover, he could gather the Lucky Light in an easier way if he had stayed, without facing any unpredictable and formidable war lords.

Hearing the discussions of the audience while he was still fighting with Zen, the orc war lord could not believe his ears when he realized that they were resolute on the notion that he could not be a match for the first-level war general. The orcs had always been those kind of creatures that always had a fiery temper, so it was understandable that he was now completely livid at the fact that they were underestimating his capabilities.

In a flash, the orc war lord's eyes glowed red and layers upon layers of forceful energy wrapped around his battle axe. At the same time, what appeared to look like dense red lights were discharged from his fists!

With a gasp, a warrior from the audience exclaimed, “It's absolute madness! This orc war lord has been utterly infuriated!”

“Once the orcs go berserk with madness, they would keep on attacking until their opponents are killed!”

“Don't you know that the orcs are all brainless?” one of the spectators noted before continuing. “If they are wise enough, their strength would definitely not be weaker than that of the ogres!” he pointed out, waving his hand towards the orc in the arena.

Truthfully, many of the creatures who were situated in the spectator stands had made correct judgments.

As a matter of fact, the orc managed to rank fourth on the Sea God Continent.

Needless to say, the orcs' talent was not inferior to that of ogres—they were only a lot smaller than the ogres, but had a miraculous recovery ability. Moreover, their speed was not the least bit secondary to the ogres, and when it came to bodily movement speed, they were only second to the Demon Night members.

Unfortunately, their seemingly great strengths were rivaled with their ultimate fatal flaw: they were brainless and their intelligence was undeniably low. This was to say they were easily angered and were consequently, easy to provoke and take advantage of. It was almost laughable.

After the orcs went berserk and were driven to madness, their strength did increase twice-fold, but the weakness of this powerful madness was obvious. Once their madness mode was activated, none of them would be able to control themselves, as they mainly operated on instinct and fury. However, this state only continued until their target was already dead, or they themselves died.

As he glanced between the two red lights emitted from the orc war lord's fists, Zen briefly frowned and his expression was schooled into one of seriousness. Even if this independent war lord's strength was not powerful enough, he was still a war lord through and through. Truthfully, the gap between Zen's cultivation and the war lord's was considerably large, so it could not be completely ignored.

“Go to perdition! Aooo!”

Once again, the orc war lord let out a beast-like howl and dashed towards Zen like a rolling boulder.

This time, Zen did not choose to evade the attack like he previously did. Instead, he unsheathed the long sword in his hand that began to radiate a faint golden light, spreading endless sword intent.

“Heaven and Earth Rotating!”

When the distance between the orc war lord and Zen narrowed to ten feet, the orc war lord suddenly began to rotate faster and faster, akin to a spinning top.

In addition to this, two demonic crimson lights continuously revolved around his bulky arms, which gradually looked like a scarlet wheel of light. To everyone's astonishment, when it was paired with the battle axe that was shining with the glow of forceful energy, it appeared to be an exceptionally pleasing visual.

As long as Zen was caught in this picturesque “spinning top”, the only possible consequence that would happen to him would be his body smashed to smithereens.

Leaning closer to witness the scene unfolding in front of her very eyes, Olivia never thought that Zen would actually choose to face the war lord head-on! Despite having believed that Zen could defeat this war lord, she wondered what Zen intended to do next after witnessing a fully enraged orc!

Since Olivia was able to stay in the tenth floor, she had naturally fought with some of the orcs before. Furthermore, even though she had defeated three orc tenth-level war generals, it was not because Olivia's strength was stronger than the orc war generals. It was more of the fortunate circumstance that those orc war generals were stupid even if they did have the amazing ability of recovering faster than normal.

During the moments of her own fight against orcs, Olivia only needed to constantly dodge their attacks as her strategy was to thoroughly exhaust them until they eventually died on the arena. Even if her opponents managed to activate the madness mode, they would definitely be unable to do anything offensive to the incomparably quick-witted Olivia.

However, if Olivia decided to conduct a head-to-head battle with an orc war general, she might not even be marginally close to defeating a seventh-level or eighth-level war general by herself, let alone a tenth-level orc war general.

On the other hand, Zen did not dodge despite the odds stacked against him. With a determined mind, he planned to use his top-grade sacred long sword to fight with this orc war lord.
