Chapter 514: Chapter 514: Danger

Zen knew his strength and limitations full well.

No person in the Central Region could ever hope to outclass him when it came to the mastery of runes. The divine texture, which was passed down from the Upper World, was definitely something that the runes in the Central Region wouldn't be able to measure up to.

That was just in regards to rune mastery, but in terms of overall strength, in front of all these elders who had reached the Virtual Tribulation Realm, and Imogen and Eddie who were both currently in the Life and Death Realm, he was nothing but an ant in the Illuminating Soul Realm.

If a war were to break out between the Life and Death Realm masters, even the elders at the Virtual Tribulation Realm wouldn't be strong enough and they would end up being eliminated right at the start like lambs to the slaughter. It might just be that only Letitia had the possibility of lending Imogen a hand in the fight to come. In the end, Zen wouldn't even suffice as cannon fodder as well.

That was to say, it wouldn't really make much sense for Zen to put up resistance at all.

The stream of energy between heaven and earth ceaselessly surged into Eddie's robust and towering physique. At that point in time, Eddie appeared as though he had transformed into an enormous mountain. The eyes of that mountain-like man glimmered, and he proceeded to throw a punch up into the sky.

“Smash it into smithereens!”

Sizzle! Crackle!

From Zen's perspective, Eddie looked like he was so twisted. The space above him was about to be totally ruptured by the immense force of just this single punch!

As it ravenously stormed straight toward Zen, his fist emitted a great amount of blinding light. It seemed apparent that the light contained exceptionally aggressive power!

“Is this the so-called power that has the capability of obliterating everything?”

As his eyes frantically flashed, Zen concentrated his gaze on the radiant light that was about to hit him.

In just a blink of an eye, the streaks of light had instantly turned up in front of Zen, crashing into the enchanted barrier he had put up which was just less than three feet away from him.

During that exact moment, Zen truly felt like he was close to choking up.

Boom!

Making it seem as though millions of explosives had detonated simultaneously, the impact produced an earsplitting noise!

The heavy punch brought about intense gusts of wind, and a countless number of wind blades went hurtling in all directions. A couple of those wind blades got deflected back over to Eddie, but he didn't even bother avoiding them at all. The wind blades might have managed to tear Eddie's robe into pieces, but they weren't that strong for him to get wounded.

Even the mere repercussions of this powerful punch could be more than enough to kill Zen.

That being said, Zen did not receive any damage whatsoever. The Light of Water continuously defended him against all of Eddie's power.

In order to withstand the heavy impact of the punch Eddie had thrown, large waves materialized on the surface of the Light of Water enchanted barrier. The waves scattered and rippled from the fist's point of impact. And eventually, the entire surface of the enchanted barrier successfully absorbed the impact from his attack. It was only after that point that the enchanted barrier then gradually went back to its original tranquil state. ᚱáŊÔꞖËṡ

Meanwhile, inside the Cloud Hall, the elders at the Virtual Tribulation Realm who were anxiously watching everything that had just transpired had their eyes all gleaming with anticipation.

Letitia then heaved a heavy sigh of relief, squinting her eyes until they had the shape of tiny crescent moons. From what had just happened, she thought that pinning her hopes on Zen was a good choice.

Even then, Imogen still retained the face of a young maiden, and the look she had on her face never shifted at all.

In spite of that, every other person from the Cloud Hall was thinking to themselves.

The worth of the sect-protecting array, which was sturdy enough to hinder the attack of even the strongest master of the Central Region, was immeasurable.

Were they to be given a choice between a Life and Death Realm warrior and the sect-protecting array that had been constructed by Zen, be it the Cloud Hall or the Ethereal Spirit Sect itself, it was safe to say that they would most probably choose this array!

The reasoning was quite easy to understand. You could say for a fact that a Life and Death Realm warrior could potentially aid a sect to reach the summit, but every single warrior's lifespan had its limitations, and needless to say, the Life and Death Realm warriors were not exempted from this. Even though they could walk the earth for about one or two millennia, Life and Death Realm warriors still had no way to escape death.

Numerous bones could be found in front of the door of longevity. In the vast and endless universe, there were lots of beings who had quite long life spans, but none of them could possibly live forever.

But despite that, sect-protecting array was a bit of an exception. For as long as it would be well taken care of, it had what it took to be able to last forever. It could protect a sect up until the end of time. And at some point, a super talent would be produced in the sect!

That being the case, not only did Letitia not lose anything wagering it all on Zen, she actually even ended up making a giant killing!

Never in Eddie's wildest dreams would he have ever imagined that the strike in which he had put everything he had got still wouldn't be powerful enough to break the enchanted barrier Zen had created. For this very reason, Eddie had been left completely dumbfounded.

Having years of experience fighting in the Central Region, nothing had ever surprised him to this extent.

The only person who was aware of just how powerful that punch was supposed to be was Eddie himself!

Be that as it might, this thin sheet which bore semblance to that of bubbles somehow succeeded in blocking the light released from his fist. The actual strength of that mysterious enchanted barrier was utterly beyond Eddie.

What was even more irritating was that Zen seemed to have had so much confidence in this enchanted barrier he had built. After all, he actually had the audacity to stand in a position that was just about two feet behind the barrier, staying straight-faced just like a dead fish, as if to tell him, 'Do you honestly think you can touch me?!'

How many years had it been since anyone had the guts to mock him in that way? It had been so long that Eddie couldn't even remember anymore.

From the moment he successfully made it through the Life and Death Realm, every sect in the Central Region, regardless of size, were all dying to suck up to him or act so respectful. Even the fifth-grade sect itself, the Ethereal Spirit Sect which he hadn't been on good terms with couldn't ever dare to displease him.

The kid acting a bit high and mighty in front of him was truly so peculiar!

In reality, the only thing he did was throw a single punch. There was no way a minor hiccup like that could make Eddie give up that easily. He had gone through the lengths of coming all the way to the Cloud Hall completely dead set on annihilating every single one of its members, and he wouldn't just call it a day because of a stupid sect-protecting array.

For his second attempt, Eddie unsheathed the Nameless Saber from the scabbard he had tied to his waist.

Eden had not come up to scratch in bringing out the full potential of the Nameless Saber. And the main cause of that was that he had been beaten by Zen. From that event, Eddie had learned something. A man had to carve out his own path to the success of martial arts through his own power. Even if his son had been blessed with the divine-level talent, he would still have to get nourished and improved with his own two hands. The strength acquired by means of getting help from other people couldn't, in any way, be considered as the real strength.

In his hands, Eddie had a tight grip on the Nameless Saber. The air around him had shifted. Before that, Eddie had given off the aura that made people think he was truly as massive as a mountain. But the moment he pulled out the Nameless Saber, his appearance became sharp and he flared with such radiance, making it look as though he had become one with the saber.

When they sensed the aura Eddie was exuding, every single one of the Virtual Tribulation Realm elders felt ill at ease.

The sect-protecting array might have fortunately been able to block Eddie's attack just now, but a high-ranking master such as Eddie would, without a doubt, have lots of other trump cards hiding up his sleeve. At that point, there was really no telling what could happen next.

On that account, in spite of the fact that they were still quite confident in this enchanted barrier, they couldn't shake off the feeling of being anxious.

Zen was still up on his feet and didn't even move an inch. Two feet beneath the enchanted barrier, there he stood, saying under his breath, “Are you ready? Let's get this started!”

Eddie moved back a little bit, lifting the Nameless Saber to his chest. Pieces of brownish-yellow life vitality in his arm transformed into streaks, seeping into the Nameless Saber.

“Condense!” Eddie yelled out.

A brownish-yellow blade shadow started to materialize all around the Nameless Saber. An immense blade shadow that could be about three hundred feet long and forty feet wide, or possibly even fifty, suddenly emerged through the Nameless Saber.

A blade shadow of that magnitude would be capable of splitting a small mountain in half, and that could be done without having the need to activate the blade intent. And if the blade intent were to be activated, it could then swiftly raze the mountain to the ground.

The Life and Death Realm warriors possessed the divine strength capable of toppling mountains and overturning seas.

“Furious slash on the void!”

Just a few moments later, Eddie unleashed another attack again using the Nameless Saber.

The three hundred feet long blade shadow appeared as though it could tear the sky apart. In all of the Central Region, there was nothing that could possibly hope to stop that attack.

Crack!

As he thrust his Nameless Saber horizontally into the enchanted barrier, it embedded an extensive and narrow trail on the exterior of the Light of Water, and at the end of that trail, there was Zen, intently awaiting his attacks.

Through all of that, the enchanted barrier remained unscathed and was still intact.

It was indeed true that the strike caused the entire barrier to tremble, and the waves on the surface were actually more than a hundred feet in height. Regrettably so, Eddie, even after putting all of his strength into that slash, was still not able to surpass the capacity of what the barrier could take.

After releasing a strike of that level, even someone as mighty as Eddie couldn't help himself from catching his breath. His face slowly went darker and darker. Even after giving it all he had got, he still couldn't even scratch Zen! This was a bit of truth that Eddie wouldn't be able to accept.

While Eddie was backed into a corner trying to find another way to shatter the enchanted barrier, he felt a sudden twinge of danger about to engulf him.

Besides having a mastery of a few powerful cultivation methods, Eddie also held a remarkable talent. It was this ability of his which allowed him to get away from danger and escape the jaws of death. It was his ability to feel the killing intent emitted by other people, and through that, he could also sense the imminent danger!

Taking all of that into consideration, upon stepping foot into the Life and Death Realm, Eddie had not been given many chances to make use of his innate talent. And the true reason for that was, it was quite hard to meet someone in the Central region who could pose a threat to his life.

But in that brief second, he surprisingly felt an ominous sense of danger.

Subconsciously, he rushed to get away from his current location, and only then was he able to notice a cloud of mist with mystifying colors coming toward him.

As luck would have it, Eddie was able to move quickly, and he had gotten out before the cloud of smoke surrounded him completely.

In an instant, a bolt of lightning with the size of a dragon appeared and was about to strike him.

Crack!

As a result, the dragon-like lightning bolt only brushed against Eddie's side. It failed to hit the intended target.

Having said that, Eddie was able to sense the power contained within that attack. Had he been struck by it, even though he might not have died, he would certainly end up in a critical condition! In addition to that puzzling mist, a terrible idea abruptly came to Eddie--the Cloud Hall's sect-protecting array was completely capable of obliterating him.

This was something Eddie found quite so hard to accept. But at that moment, if it weren't for his swift movement and his ability to sense danger, it was for certain that he would have ended up in such a problematic situation!
