Chapter 1688: Chapter 1688: Zen's Sudden Disappearance

“Marko, stop blabbing nonsense! What are you waiting for? Just hurry up and kill the old guy!”

As Pranav spoke, he continued his precise control of the five-colored small swords with which he attacked Zen ferociously!

Even Zen, having deployed his Wishing Spell, could only handle three five-colored small swords at most. Every time the five-colored small swords simultaneously shot towards him, at least two of them would break through Zen's defenses, penetrating his armor, leaving a deep, bloody wound on his body.

But because Pranav had now been forced into a corner, he had no other choice but summon another two True Gods for help. Pranav was more than just pissed though, and in order to vent the boiling fury in his system, he loosened his attack on Zen. In other words, as the five small swords drilled toward him, they didn't do so with the direct intention to take his life. Instead, the small, five-colored swords avoided Zen's vitals parts, only leaving a painful lesion behind every single time!

Even though Zen was wearing his Redemption Armor in order to protect his body, the small five-colored swords pierced through to his body with a ridiculous ease. Despite Zen's best attempt at defending himself, he had at least two or three dozen wounds covering his whole body.

Marko, who had just been scolded by Pranav, didn't show the slightest intention of shutting up. Instead, he chuckled and said, “Pranav, might you've taken a fancy to the boy? Since when have you had an interest in this mere little world lord?”

These two True Gods had been summoned here by Pranav. They had crossed tens of thousands of supreme worlds, all the way from the Murphy Universe and entered directly into the Evolutionary Universe to come to Pranav's rescue.

They had believed that Pranav was unable to defeat the True God of the Evolutionary Universe and had thus asked them for help.

What they had never expected was that the battle they were walking into was actually against a secondary creature who was equally a world lord. And that even more so, Pranav had actually used the Five-element Divine Sword! The only explanations they could think of for using the Five-element Divine Sword against a world lord was either Pranav was completely out of his mind or he had developed a liking for that world lord. Other than that, the two of them couldn't think of any other plausible reason.

However, once Marko had had the opportunity to observe the fight for a moment, his eyes revealed a hint of surprise. “Huh? This world lord actually looks like he has some ability. Did I just see him successfully block three small swords from Pranav?”

The Five-element Divine Sword was Pranav's unique technique. Both Marko and Mateo were extremely wary of the latter.

Neither of them had ever imagined that a single secondary creature in the Evolutionary Universe could resist a True God's unique technique. Even less coming from someone with nothing but a world lord cultivation level. There were no words: this was truly incredible.

“The kid isn't weak whatsoever...”

“Oh, and the kid even employed the Wishing Spell. I wonder how much he hates you, Pranav!”

“Stop messing around with him, will you? Just kill the boy!”

Marko actually seemed to enjoy watching the fight as he continually offered his unpopular commentary.

In comparison to Marko, Mateo didn't say much at all. He and Marko had entered the Evolutionary Universe together, but he was making himself useful and had already started to fight with Wynn.

Mateo was Marko and Pranav's senior fellow apprentice. He was the strongest out of the three True Gods, and at this moment, he wasn't at anywhere near a disadvantage. If Marko were to join in on the battle, Wynn would probably be defeated in an instant.

However, Marko, who was still busy nagging Pranav, didn't appear to have any intention in making his first move. Instead, he watched with interest as Pranav attacked Zen with his five small swords.

In the Evolutionary Universe, many others still paid silent attention to the ongoing battle.

Deep in the divine land, a dense mist was hanging motionlessly in the air.

From the patches of thick fog, a corner of a jade building could only vaguely be seen.

Suddenly, an angry voice resounded, “Murphy!” it shouted. “Three True Gods have been sent out for the war of the two universes. Do you dare break the rules?” 𝐑A𐌽ȏᛒΕṦ

As the voice echoed in the air, it seemed to contain a special kind of magic that enabled the voice to linger in one's ear. Even after a long period of time, the voice didn't dissipate but continued ringing tirelessly in one's head.

After a long while, another voice rang out in reply, “So what?” it asked. “This is the new rule that has been set up by the Hall of Holy Beings. Ha-ha! You can do that too.”

“The rules of the Hall of Holy Beings cannot be violated. Murphy's actions are not against the rules,” a third voice was quick to answer.

“But if rules can be changed at random, wouldn't it be too reckless? This rule that was set three thousand divine eras ago is changed right now, at this critical moment. It is indeed completely unfair!”

“If you have the ability, then you too can also change the rules on the stone tablets yourself!”

Numerous voices sounded out, interrupting one another as they argued.

As they quarreled back and forth endlessly, an even more majestic voice sounded above theirs. The voice contained an irresistible aura as it spoke and said, “Stop arguing! The rules of the Hall of Holy Beings are not violated, and no one has the right to criticize Murphy. Have you forgotten the original intent for creating the Hall of Holy Beings?”

As this dignified voice was heard, everyone else quickly fell silent.

A few of the Holy Being were actually quite sympathetic to what had happened to Mike.

With a Holy Being's power, anyone was able to destroy Mike's inner world easily, which, of course, was the Evolutionary Universe.

But the rules of the Hall of Holy Beings stated that it was forbidden for a Holy Being to destroy the inner world of another Holy Being. Without such a rule, the war between Holy Beings would fall into a viscous cycle. The final result, at best, would be both sides suffering great losses.

However, a Holy Being had the permission to start a war between two universes. A Holy Being could make the secondary creatures within their inner world invade the inner world of another Holy Being. But they too had to follow a set of very strict rules. A Holy Being was only allowed to send one True God in to help with a war, and the True God could only be of low-rank.

Once Mike escaped, with severe wounds of course, he had made full preparations. Not only had he arranged one of his disciples within his universe, but he had also made his universe last forever. The other Holy Beings were all amazed by him achieving such a technique. As long as the Evolutionary Universe remained untouched, he'd still have a chance at returning.

That didn't matter much anymore, though. Not long ago, this rule was changed. The number of low-rank True Gods that a Holy Being could send to war between universes had increased from one to three.

It was obvious that this change had been made as a direct strike at Mike.

The Hall of Holy Beings originally had great enmity with Mike. Even if a few of the Holy Beings wanted to speak for Mike, they wouldn't be able to do anything. They could only watch what happened in the Evolutionary Universe helplessly.

Most of the Holy Beings knew very well that the Evolutionary Universe would eventually collapse. When was impossible to tell. When the time came though, one thing was for certain, Mike would perish!

Other Holy Beings felt very indifferent to this matter. After all, it had nothing to do with them and it was as simple as that.

And others still were actually secretly relieved. Mike living, even for one more day, was pure torture to them. They would only ever feel at ease anew once Mike was dead.

The speed at which Zen brandished his Great Weighty Sword was getting slower and losing momentum.

Pranav's small five-colored swords were too sharp, and his attacker was too quick. Beneath the continuous stabbing, Zen was losing more and more of his blood.

In the face of a True God, all of Zen's methods were rendered absolutely useless.

He had once employed the Eight Smoky Melodies, but it was now impossible for him to dodge these sharp small swords. Furthermore, the Causality Breaking Light of the Enemy Repelling Arts had no effect on the Five Elements Godly Way, and thus, he found himself in an utterly passive position. All Zen felt he could do now was to leave himself at the mercy of Pranav.

Worse, the sudden appearance of the two True Gods caused Zen's heart to sink way down into his depths.

Wynn was feeling nearly the same way as Zen.

If it was just for dealing with Pranav alone, the Evolutionary Universe would have been capable of contending against the Murphy Universe, and their chances of winning would have been quite high.

However, Murphy had actually sent out three True Gods to fight the war. This placed the Murphy Universe in an invincible position!

“Aren't you going to end that kid's life?” Marko chimed back in.

“Is it really that rewarding to torture a small, helpless world lord?”

“Pranav, I never expected you to have such a nasty hobby…”

Although Marko had come to help the Murphy Universe, he didn't have any plans of physically taking action. So much so that there were even a few Sacred Supreme Lords that died not too far off, and he still ignored them, continuing to nag at Pranav instead.

“Shut your stinking mouth!” Pranav reprimanded with fury.

He was also beginning to feel that the war was coming to an end. His figure flashed and in the blink of an eye, he appeared above Zen's head.

At that moment, the power of Zen's Nine Divine Stars had almost completely been exhausted. There was nearly nothing left at all.

Even though he had exerted the Wishing Spell, he didn't have the strength to counterattack once again. Now, he was struggling even more to keep control of the Great Weighty Sword.

He mechanically brandished his Great Weighty Sword forward. These weak strikes didn't muster the slightest ounce of power. Pranav simply extended his hand and tapped lightly on the Great Weighty Sword. Zen's sword was flung hundreds of feet away and there was nothing he could do about it.

“Give up, boy! Your performance really impressed me. You don't even have the Heavenly Destiny, and yet you managed to cut off one of my arms,” Pranav said flatly.

“What? This brat cut off your arm?!” Marko, who was standing to the side and watching, was also stunned.

Pranav ignored Marko and continued speaking to Zen in a condescending tone, “You're a secondary creature, thus you're born with a lowly life. You're doomed to being restricted by the heavens. No matter how talented you are, how strong your willpower is, the only thing you'll chase after in your entire life is nothing but a joke in my eyes. Kneel down, and I will grant you a dignified death!”

Once Pranav finished speaking, Zen revealed a dry smile.

Upon Zen's eerie smile, Pranav was overwhelmed with a strange feeling, one that made his heart pound. Clearly this world lord was already in a bad position. What could he be trying to say with such an expression on his face now?

“Are you qualified to grant me with my death?” Zen asked.

And once these words escaped his mouth, Zen suddenly disappeared, vanishing completely like a miracle, right before Pranav's and the other True God's eyes.
