Chapter 1542: Chapter 1542: Being Exhausted

At last, Zen had done everything he possibly could. But all that he could do now was to place his every hope in Kaydan.

Zen's most recent interception had caused the Formless Sky Pythons to sink into absolute chaos. Once the Formless Sky Pythons had been thrown into the mess, their only desire was to crawl out from beneath their fellow pythons. The harder they tried though, the greater the disarray became. A few of the Formless Sky Pythons' bodies were scattered across the ground, intertwined and entangled together.

Despite the turmoil and disorder, many of the Formless Sky Pythons continued to charge out in an attempt to attack the warriors.

Kaydan looked out across the black sphere and noticed that, thanks to his Heavenly Jade Seal, a green, luminous pattern had begun to spread throughout.

As the green light continued to disperse itself and flow along the pattern, Kaydan suddenly announced, “It has been done!”

Many warriors stared vigilantly at the Formless Sky Pythons. Upon noticing that Zen was lying on the ground, they instantly knew that their only choice was to risk their lives in the next coming round.

And that was when Kaydan's voice rang out. The warriors were immersed and hearing it, they felt that it was the most beautiful heavenly music in the world!

“Let's go!”

“Hurry up and enter!”

Warriors could be heard shouting at one another. Nearly all of them rushed hastily in hopes to be the first to reach and enter the black sphere.

Under Kennan's careful protection, Laquisha and the others carried Zen's body and equally escaped into the black ball.

At the same time as the warriors moved forward, the Formless Sky Pythons also decided to dash toward the black sphere. Luckily though, these pythons had no chance in entering for as soon as all the warriors had entered, the green pattern on the surface of the black ball instantly vanished, leaving no trace behind!

The Formless Sky Pythons weren't very intelligent. Instinctively, several of them began to launch their different attacks on the black sphere.

Of course, it didn't matter how much the Formless Sky Pythons crashed into the sphere, or wrapped it up with their massive bodies in an attempt to crush it. The black ball did not budge an inch; it remained suspended mid-air, completely motionless. At its own speed and rhythm, the black sphere began to rotate on its own orbit, totally unaffected by the external force driven by the Formless Sky Pythons.

Zen lay quietly on Laquisha's back. He had lost all sense of perception of the outside world, including his sense of touch and sense of smell. Zen was quite uncomfortable, which was expected from this kind of full-body exhaustion. The key point of such an experience was that after the life vitality of a warrior who cultivated the life vitality had been exhausted, one could gradually recover his or her strength by using life vitality crystals. But to recover one's strength would take a period of time and a body refiner's thirst for strength was much greater than a warrior who cultivated the life vitality.

Just at the right moment though, cyan dragon scales slowly lit up in the depths of Zen's mind. It was the cyan dragon, quietly transmitting his strength to Zen.

At the same time, a bold voice also sounded out, also in his mind. “Ha, ha, I forgot to remind you. Unless it's a life or death type of situation, body refiners should try their best not to squeeze out all of their strength!”

Zen recognized this immediately as the red dragon's voice.

And this was the truth. In fact, it was even considered a warrior's rule. In the face of all sorts of difficulties, there were still some occasions when life vitality and strength were insufficient. If one retained at least a small amount of strength, then this was doing the same as reserving an opportunity.

But it was already too late. Zen's desperate gamble had brought about serious consequences.

Thankfully though, as the power of the dragon scales began to fill Zen, his body quickly began to regain a certain composure and the feeling of exhaustion gradually disappeared. This was an improvement, to say the least. Ɽ𝙖𐌽ỐΒΕṣ

Unfortunately, this didn't last long! As soon as all the energy had been channeled into Zen's body, it was almost immediately sucked out of him by Eight Path Platforms! And soon after, Zen felt that the power contained within Eight Path Platforms had been sucked out by the Nine Divine Stars.

Sensing this, Zen felt an overwhelming need to weep, but failed to shed a single tear.

'Just how much power would be needed to fill the Nine Divine Stars?' Zen questioned himself solemnly.

The cyan dragon might have been silent now, but he continued to instill power into Zen's body. Despite doing so though, the transmitted power felt more like a heavy stone sinking to the bottom of the ocean. It wasn't improving Zen's situation whatsoever.

Fortunately for Zen, his Nine Divine Stars were recovering at an astonishing speed.

After all, these Nine Divine Stars existed within Zen's chaotic sea. In addition to absorbing the energy from Zen's Eight Path Platforms, they were also capable of continuously absorbing the surrounding chaotic energy. Naturally, they would replenish their own energy much faster than they would absorb Zen's.

On one side he had the power of dragon scales and on the other, Zen had a replenishment of chaotic energy. With these two sources of power, the Nine Divine Stars, which were originally extremely faint, began to emit a glowing rainbow colored light.

It was then that the Nine Divine Stars stopped acting so crazily. They suddenly stopped absorbing the energy from Zen's Eight Path Platforms, and the Eight Path Platforms stopped absorbing the energy from Zen's fleshly body.

Simultaneously, Zen began to take closer notice of the cyan dragon in his mind. The scales on his body were much dimmer than usual and without their shimmering light. In all honesty, they looked much like the ones that still needed to be lit up.

Among all nine dragons, Zen had the best relationship with the cyan dragon. After all, Zen had spent most of his years with the cyan dragon's company. Once the other eight dragons had awoken, the cyan dragon chose to stay silent. But now, he infused Zen with his energy, in a tactical manner.

In the past, it was highly possible that Zen might have held a grudge against the nine dragons, due to their deceptive ways. His anger was amplified, of course, because they had also threatened him with Yan. After learning about the Evolutionary Universe's origins as well as Mike's identity, it was as if all that resentment had dissipated.

It was true that, ultimately, they had no intentions of harming him, right?

Although he had only recovered a very small portion of his strength and still remained very weak, Zen was now at least free to move on his own.

While he was concentrating on absorbing the power of the dragon scales, everyone had had the chance to enter the black sphere. When Zen finally opened his eyes, everything was still pitch black.

“Put me down...”

Now that his strength was gradually being restored, Zen suddenly smelled a faint, pleasant fragrance. He took a deeper breath and feeling the soft hair fluttered around his face from time to time, Zen realized that he was lying on Laquisha's back.

“Oh, how did you recover your strength so quickly?” Although she wasn't a body refiner, Laquisha knew that Zen was in a weakened state just moments before.

“I am fine,” Zen said. He was standing up now, trying to readjust his eyes. His circular pupils grew larger in the darkness but still, he couldn't see a blasted thing!

This kind of situation wasn't unknown to Zen. He had already experienced this several times in the past. He knew that this place must be filled with some kind of intense Dark Law.

If a Holy Being had set it up himself, then it was safe to say that no one here could see through the darkness. And just as Zen had thought, everyone moved slowly within the black space, pressed closely up against one another.

No one dared run in the darkness; they knew nothing about what the space in the black sphere contained. At the moment, everyone here felt blind. At best, most of them had released their senses in order to explore the surrounding terrain - but even that was uneventful. They were all walking on the same, flat plane with nothing but oblivion for miles. There was nothing else to explore.

After walking in the pitch blackness for a certain time, someone broke the silence. “Kaydan, are you sure this black sphere is actually connected to the other black spheres?”

Kaydan could feel everyone's eyes on him. They were waiting for him to answer.

After a moment of silence, Kaydan replied, “Yes, I am. The last time I entered one of these black spheres, I walked all the way through it and emerged from another one.”

“Then why are these black spheres even here?” someone else asked.

“I'm not sure... To be fair, I'm not really familiar with these black spheres either,” Kaydan concluded. He was being honest and really didn't know what purpose the nine black spheres served, aside from floating within the interior world.

That was when Kennan's voice sounded out once again. “If my guess is right, these nine black spheres would be the Nine Divine Stars of the Holy Being!”

In the darkness, Zen closed his eyes for a second. He thought the same way as Kennan did. He also believed that these nine black spheres were the Holy Being's Nine Divine Stars.

“Nine Divine Stars? It is said that after a warrior enters the Holy Realm, the Nine Divine Stars would indeed move into his or her inner world. But the Nine Divine Stars are a gathering place for the strength source. There's no strength source within this black ball,” a warrior of the divine land said doubtfully.

“Now that, I can't pronounce myself on. Holy Jay is a maverick. It was already very strange for him to place his strength source within the Collapsing Mountain race. However, the thoughts of a Holy Being are not something that an existence like us could understand,” Kennan said frankly.

A Holy Being was a peak existence of the divine land. There might be a reason for such an arrangement, but ordinary warriors would never come close to even guessing it.

Zen didn't understand this factor at all, either. Placing his strength source in Sacred Spring Mountain was equivalent to abolishing his Nine Divine Stars. Doing this would literally be unreasonable.

“Hey!”

While deep in thought, Zen suddenly saw a faint flash of golden light not far away.

That golden light only appeared for a very brief period of time. However, in such a dark place, when a golden light appeared, you noticed it! It was as dazzling as fireflies in the dark. Zen knew he saw it clearly.

“What's wrong?” Laquisha asked.

Zen's curiosity began to grow. “You didn't see it?” he asked.

“See what?” Although he couldn't see her face, Zen could tell that Laquisha looked puzzled.

“It's nothing... Never mind.”

Zen knew what he had seen and he was sure it wasn't an illusion. It was a flash of golden light.

In the darkness, the light had been extremely dazzling. Zen realized that he was the only one to take notice and the others didn't have any reaction at all. This could only mean one thing: Zen could see the golden light, but the others couldn't.

With this thought running through his mind, Zen carefully left the group. He wanted to get a closer look at what that golden light really was.

Shortly after sighting the first one, another burst of dazzling golden light flew into Zen's view. This time, the golden light had been much clearer than the first; it was actually a golden Sanskrit word!
