Chapter 89: Chapter 89
Nadia was with Isabelle, Tiana, Opaline, and Amelie when they all watched the craft land atop the mountain. They had gone to visit Amelie with the new additions to the family as they had been doing for the past few days. Amelie was a bit overwhelmed with the thought of three babies but with the she-wolves' assistance, she had a lot of time to rest and be with her mate.
The she-wolves have been taking turns in babysitting and helping with the house chores. Xavier was still a tad careful about having Weres stream freely to the home he now shared with his mate and still had guards standing across the water to the cabin as security and to allow only authorised pack members to cross over to the cabin.
But since he was the Alpha to the pack and the triplets were the first babies born by a human mare to a Were, all the pack members were interested in seeing the babies.
Xavier decided to organize a party so as to introduce the babies to the pack members.
Nadia didn't know the setup of the island before but she was told the mountain housed the entire pack and it was only Amelie that had a cabin built by Xavier away from the mountain to protect her from Weres because she was human and pregnant with his child.
She also heard tales about Xavier's ex and what befell her.
Amelie's cabin which used to be a bungalow was now a quite swanky duplex, befitting an Alpha. The cavelike apartments carved inside the mountains were now blocks of condos embedded in the mountains with glass windows, displaying the beautiful decor. During the day the curtains are drawn to shut out preying eyes in case of passing crafts but at night, the Weres pulled the drapes aside to show off the candlelight glow of the interior lights, making the mountain look like a mould of rocks with light decorations. And the dusted powdery snow only added to the beauty. It was almost like Christmas all year long. Amelie thought it was magnificent.
Each of the pack members has an apartment to themselves and the alphas were given double-deck homes somewhat like Xaviers in the surrounding woods but with enough land mass for privacy.
The grounds in the northland of the island close to the water were where they chose to use for the vineyards. The entire ground was demarcated with a wooden fence tall enough to shield it from the rest of the ground. Angel's house was about a kilometre away.
The space was well planned with offices and stores to accommodate everything they needed for the winery. Branded boats were tied at the harbour. Anyone looking through a binocular would see a well-grounded wine-making establishment and nothing more.
They had a fully equipped hospital now with about three school buildings for creche, toddlers, and teens. The plan on how to get their people trained was underway. A security tower that was as tall as the mountain was also built on both sides of the dock and the gammas automatically took shifts in watching out for threats.
The former cave Xavier used as a prison for mentally challenged Weres had been converted into a cell block and there was an office for the security personnel.
The central grounds between the mountain, the cabins, the winery and everything else were now a leisure park for children and an expansive space was left for gatherings
Loud laughter and sounds of children running about filled the air now, carrying from the park to Amelie’s cabin.
"Cole is back!" Isabelle said with excitement. Nadia smiled. Her joy at the safe arrival of her mate was evident in her voice. Nadia didn't voice hers out but she was equally thrilled Angel was back.
"And my boy toy," Tiana said with suppressed glee.
"Unlike you, Tiana, I am confident enough to announce that Jason is far from being my toy anymore. I want to make a dozen babies with that hunk," Opaline said. The ladies laughed. Tiana grinned.
"Fine!" she said, got up and before rushing across the wooden bridge that separated the cabin from the other side of the water, she added, "the last person is a rotten mango!"
"Tomatoes, Tiana!" Nadia corrected, giggling.
"Doesn't matter as long as it is rotten," she said, sticking her tongue out. Nadia laughed out loud.
"Not fair! How am I to run with three babies?!" Amelie protested.
"Hey, I didn't ask you to enjoy your time too much with the hot Alpha!" Tiana countered, placing her hands over her hips. Amelie dissolved into giggles.
"It doesn't actually work that way," the doctor replied
"We will help you carry them, don't you worry, they are all wrapped up and ready to go!" Isabelle said, carrying the baby girl, "Who is Aunt Belle's favourite niece? You are, you are," she cooed.
"You say that to all of them, Belle," Amelia laughed. "That's not how favourite works," she added.
"Oh, heavens, you can't let them know that!" Isabelle whispered with widened eyes as she covered the baby's ears. Amelie tried to stop herself from laughing and failed.
"Sorry!" she whispered.
They all left the cabin walking towards the park. Tiana waited for them to meet up with her before proceeding and they got to the park together.
Nadia saw Xavier startled to a stop looking at Angel, Cole, Ash, Jason and the men they had gone with to Ohio walk towards the park. She directed her gaze in the direction with a smile on her face and the smile froze when he saw an elderly man and woman holding on to Angel. The activities on the grounds ceased.
"Heavens!" Isabelle gasped. And Nadia knew that the newcomers were their relatives.
"Who are those?" Amelie asked but Isabelle was already striding away to meet up with Angel and so was Xavier. Xavier stopped a few meters away from Angel and his parents but Isabelle didn't.
Cole stepped forward to cup and kiss her then took the baby from her before allowing her to go further. Isabelle was sobbing now.
"Uncle! Aunty!" she cried and rushed towards them. Alpha Bardulf took a step forward to wrap her up in a hug. The tall man lowered his head to press a kiss to her hair. His wife wrapped a frail arm around Isabelle from the back and they hugged themselves still holding on to Angel. Xavier smiled at his uncle when he lifted his head to look at him.
"Please, tell me you are not as hard-headed as my brother," the old man said. Xavier laughed and closed up the distance to jerk the old man into a hug. His shoulders shook as he cried quietly.
Angel let out a sigh and directed misty eyes to hold Nadia's. She smiled but tears spilt down her face and her lips trembled.
She was in shock that Angel had found his parents and was also scared of them finding out who she was. Something reminded her she was no longer simply a human, but that didn't stop the irrational fear.
When Xavier and Isabelle drew back, Angel raised and reached out his hand for Nadia to come to him. Tiana took the baby from her and Nadia wiped her palms down the side of her stomach.
She was three months pregnant now and looked about six months gone, the robe she wore gaping, showing off the swollen belly. Her eyes darted from one grey eye to another, not quite sure where to look. Isabelle moved forward to reach for her hand, smiling at her. Her eyes were red and her nose was as well.
"This is Luna Nadia Wulfblood…" Angel said. Nadia felt her heart tighten in the wall of her chest. Alpha Bardulf gave her a warm smile.
"You are pregnant…" Angel's mother said with profound happiness. Nadia nodded and swallowed. The other Were stepped forward and drew her into a hug.
Nadia's shoulders shook with tears. When the older woman drew back, his father came to take her hands.
"Thank you," he said.
Nadia couldn't speak. She could only nod her head repeatedly, crying. Angel stepped forward and his parents drew back. He gathered her against his front and whispered into her ear, "I told them you are blind cos you thought me beautiful."
Nadia laughed despite herself. Angel drew back and cupped her chin.
"You are beautiful," she insisted. He arched an eyebrow, looking highly sceptical. Nadia reached up to cup his chin. "And I love you," she muttered. He grinned.
"May I?" Angel heard his mother say and he turned around to see her standing in front of Amelie flanked by Isabelle, Opaline and Tiana. The doctor nodded and slowly placed the pub into her arms.
"Ah, grey eyes," the older Were said. Xavier and Alpha Bardulf along with a few other pack members and pups—that had been waiting to see the little ones—surrounded Amelie. "He is Wulfblood…" she added.
"They all are. They are Xavier's children," Isabelle whispered close to his mother's ear. The older woman beamed so did Alpha Bardulf. The two moved closer to Opaline and Tiana with Amelie in the middle, gazing adoringly down at the little ones. Three pairs of grey eyes peered back in curiosity and the female one smiled. Her grey eyes gleamed. Alpha Bardulf laughed.
"Oh, she knows who we are," Angel's dad said.
"See they all do," his wife said and there was a collective gasp as they all watched the three pups' eyes gleam with joy.
"May the moon goddess bless you three. May you find favour and love and happiness and a mate who will complete you and be your source of strength," Alpha Bardulf prayed, blessing the children.
"Amen!" the whole pack chorused.
"In case you are wondering who these are. This is my uncle, my father's junior brother, Alpha Bardulf Wulfblood of The Boldclaw Prowlers’ Pack and Luna Hera Wulfblood from Ohio. They are Angel’s parents. Their land was stolen and they were kept as slaves. A lot of us here know what that was like. But now they are free and now home. Accord them the courtesy you would accord me. Having them here feels like having my parents back."
"Welcome home, Alpha Bardulf," Darrow said, stepping forward. "I am Alpha Darrow. son of the late Alpha Randolph of the Moon pack. I suffered the same faith as you. Your nephew saved me. Now I am part of this pack and I will not have it any other way. I lost my family. Xavier brought me into another. I am honoured to be part of your family."
Taking the cue from Darrow, Wulfrun stepped forward.
"I'm Alpha Wulfrun. The alpha of the Silverhawk pack. My story is not something that I like to remember. I had buried it along with my past. Here is my home now, with friends, brothers, and sisters. The past is the past. What matters is what we make of our lives from here on. And we are happy to have you."
"I'm Hallec, Xavier's beta. I'm from Westlands’ pack. I'm the son of the beta of our pack. My alpha did not make it nor did my father. I lost my mother when I was a pup and my father remarried. My stepmother perished along with my father in the attack. I would have too but your brother came to help us. Along with Xavier and Isabelle. They gave me the courage to fight back and it was a great honour to stand by their sides. Your brother died making sure we escaped. His mate died protecting him. I have never seen or met brave and noble blood as yours. I will be forever grateful and honoured to be part of this family."
