Chapter 85: Chapter 85
"I found out who I am, papa," she said, calling her father the way she used to when she was little or feeling vulnerable. Her father's eyes widened.
"W – what do you mean?" he stuttered.
"I found out why you and mum wouldn't allow me to use a regular hospital."
"That fucking bastard! Did Antonio tell you?! He promised me he will never bring you into his shitty obsession with those creatures---"
"You mean our kin, papa?"
"Nadia, listen to me you are nothing like—"
"I am no longer just wolfless kin as you and my uncle Antonio, Papa. The moon goddess blessed me with a mate, a Wulfblood…"
"Oh God, he has infected you with his madness. Wulfblood are extinct. They no longer exist, Nadia! Antonio was not right in the head. He was obsessed with those creatures …"
Nadia gave Angel a warm smile, Xavier gestured for every Were to turn their back to Nadia and right there she shapeshifted. A gasp tore from the device as her father gaped at her. Isabelle passed a robe to her, standing out of view. Nadia collected it and used the robe to cover her front before regressing back to her human form.
"My child…" her father muttered and started to cry.
"I am the Luna to an Alpha wolf of Wulfblood, papa, I am home," Nadia said as tears streamed down her face.
After speaking with her father, Angel drew her into his arms as she cried. Her father had told her he would come to see her and she should give him a number to call her with. But Xavier had shaken his head and Nadia told him she would call him instead. She told her father she loved him and then ended the call.
Angel carried her to one of the outdoor bathrooms. Letting her feet touch the floor, he took off the robe she wore and hung it on a hook embedded in the back of the door. He then twisted the shower faucet and water sprayed over them both, washing off the blood. Angel reached for the sample containers of shampoo, pour the content into his large palm and slowly worked it into her hair. When he was down with that he draped her face and body cleaning dirt and blood off of her skin. He then allowed her to stay under the sprinkling water while he cleaned himself up. Afterwards, he simply pulled her into his arms and the two stayed in that position for a little while.
"I love you," Nadia muttered against his chest, sobbing quietly. Angel tightened his arms around her, pressing his nose to her clean wet hair, he inhaled the aftermath of the floral scent of the shampoo
"And I love you," he muttered, "we are going to be fine."
The two later joined the others to clear off the remains of their attackers. They dug a grave and threw them all inside and lit up the bodies. Afterwards, Xavier asked the Weres to cover up the grave and they all lined about the deep hole to shovel dirt atop the burnt bodies.
After they had succeeded in clearing off the entire grounds, some went for a swim and others used the outdoor bathrooms. They all ate afterwards and before long nature caught up to them and each walked into a tent to take a nap.
Angel noted Xavier sitting apart from the others, at about the same time Isabelle came out of her tent. The two shared a look and went to join him, flanking him on both sides.
"I'm fine…" Xavier said before either of them could say a word.
"Of course, you are, which would make you a far better Were than I am. Your calm disposition is out of the ordinary. If I were in your shoes, nothing would keep me from going with them. You would have to shoot me with silver bullets and poison me with wolfbane to keep me subdued," Angel said. Isabelle giggled. Xavier threw him a side glance. The hard lines of his face softened.
"Speaking of bullets, how is your wound?" Xavier said.
"I'm fine," Angel said. Xavier nodded.
"Not being with her at this very important moment of our lives got me thinking of Cole's suggestion, having a town to ourselves would be really great. And I know he is crazy enough to make it happen…" Xavier said.
"It is already in the works. I'm just a little sceptical about his method though. He might get people hurt," Isabelle mumbled.
"Ahh… I'm scared to ask," Xavier sighed in exasperation. Angel chuckled.
"First he suggested we should bring in wild animals to scare folks out of the region. Then he thought of orchestrating kidnapping people and making them appear in another town far away so they could believe there was an evil presence here teleporting humans out. Trust me you don't want to hear the third…" Isabelle said in a comical grimace. Xavier and Angel busted out laughing.
"Are you certain you want to have a child with that lunatic?" Xavier asked. Isabelle gave him a side glance. Her beautiful eyes danced with evident joy.
"It's a little too late to reconsider that, brother," Isabelle said. Xavier went very still. Angel reached forward to cup the side of her face, giving her an affectionate smile. Xavier pulled her to his chest and held her.
"Does Cole know?" Angel asked.
"He was the first to suspect and asked Amelie to test my blood," Isabelle replied.
"That sounds like Cole; nothing gets past him. And I think I can remember the exact time he figured it out," Xavier said. Isabelle giggled. "I will protect and defend this family till I draw my last breath, Belle. No harm will come to you and yours. I promise," Xavier said, sounding choked up.
"I know," Isabelle muttered. The emotional family moment caused them not to notice they were no longer alone. When Isabelle pulled back from Xavier, she raised her eyes and saw Cole standing there watching the three.
"Do you guys have room for one more?" he asked and the sparkling shine in his eyes depicted his emotional state. Isabelle shot up and lunged at him. He cupped her face and kissed her as Xavier and Angel stood up.
"Cole?" Xavier said in a hesitant tone. Cole wrapped one arm around Isabelle and offered Xavier a handshake. A slow grin stretched the alpha Were's lips.
"Where are they?" Xavier asked. Cole pointed up as a craft flew over the woods heading to the island.
"Ash is taking them home. Tiana and Opaline are fine and Congratulations, you have two bouncing baby boys and one really cute girl."
"Three pubs?!" Both Xavier and Isabelle exclaimed. Cole and Angel grinned. Angel slapped Xavier in the back, making a joyful whoop.
"I suppose I have to make plans for more than one baby too, huh?" Cole said, smiling down at Isabelle. Xavier still looked stunned. Isabelle stretched up to press a kiss on the corner of Cole's lips. "Shall we join them?" Cole added.
"Please…" Xavier said in a daze.
