Chapter 44: Chapter 44
Angel reached for the big needle he normally used to inject them as if they were animals, and stabbed him in the arm with it. The man grunted in pain, afraid to shout as Blaze continued to glare at him. Angel injected whatever was inside into the older man's arm and watched as he started to shiver, his colour turned bright red like a lobster and he started to drool.
“That must feel great, right?” Blaze said as he reached for another one and passed it to Angel. Angel extracted the full dosage and when the older man made it as if he was going to raise alarm, Blaze held his open palm to his mouth, holding his head firmly to the seat headrest as Angel injected him again.
Kurt loosened the tied girl and helped her to wear a gown. Odwolf made a triumphant sound and turned around from an open refrigerator hidden in a corner to show the rest a blue liquid in a small tube. He packed the rest of them, stuffing them in his pocket, and then lifted another set of tubes from the refrigerator too these ones were black and orange in the same tube and they never mixed. Angel knew the drug too well it was an elixir used to subdue their powers. Odwolf strode past Angel, Blaze and Kurt as if what they were doing was none of his concern, walking inside an adjoining bathroom. Angel heard a flush and knew he had flushed them down the drain. He came back and went to start to pack more of the powdery plants used to make it and went back to flush it as well. When Angel saw him bring out a labelled wolfbane, he stopped him on his way and used the syringe to draw out some with the drug in the tube and gestured to him to go on. Odwolf chuckled with pure devilish relish and Angel injected the doctor again.
“I told you—countless times, that I was going to stand over you while you die a really pitiful death, what kind of an Alpha Were would I be if I don’t fulfil my promises?” Angel said in a calm disposition. He then gestured to Blaze to move back as he wrapped a rag around the doctor’s mouth to muffle his cries, and pressed one explosive under his chair. He then calls out to Odwolf to get out of the bathroom before pushing the man inside with the chair.
They all stood back and watch their tormentor writhe in agony, literally withering on the chair. By the time he finally drew his last breath, he looked like a rotting corpse. The smell of a burnt human body filled the room mixing with the potent smell of the experimental drugs.
“Man! That was satisfying. I like this kind of therapy,” Blaze said, nobody else spoke.
Angel then picked a pair of cargo pants to wear on the side rack with a white shirt. He wore them and used one white sheet to cover the doctor and locked the door, pocketing the key. He gestured for the rest of them to wait as he carefully pulled the exit door open, peering out, he listened for about a minute before signalling for them to follow him. The others trailed him outside.
When they got to Nadia’s floor stair landing. Angel felt Kurt’s eye on him. He gave his friend a side glance, arching an eyebrow at him.
“You want to plant explosives here too?” Blaze asked.
“Yes,” Angel replied, “we are planting it everywhere.” Kurt sighed.
They strode past her door, looking for the best light fixture to use. When they were done, they went to stand at the end of the hallway on private stairs that led up the building to Mathew and Antonio Rufus' wing. Angel said, “You guys need to go back now I will take it from here.” His eyes lowered to the human Kurt was still carrying.
“Where do I put her?” Kurt asked.
“In my cell, we might need her to get the others out to the tunnel.” Kurt gave him a look that obviously meant he was out of his mind. Angel added,” Do you have a better idea?” Kurt blinked and then shook his head.
“But any of the guards could come to the pit!” Kurt said. “I know there are a few of them now but you know Antonio Rufus, by morning, he would have brought in more of the fuckers!”
“Can we put her in the tunnel?” Blaze asked.
“Wouldn’t it be too cold for a human though, and dangerous? There are bats and rats there … big ones!” Kurt said, sounding exasperated.
“One of us can stay with her until she wakes up,” Blaze supplied, lowering his gaze to the human female.
“Mmm… Angel said and his eyes went to Nadia’s door. “Okay. Let’s do that, but for just a few minutes until I am done here and bring help,” Angel said after forming a plan in his head. Kurt breathed a sigh of relief then turned and tried to pass the human girl to Odwolf, the other Were retreated as if Kurt had tried to give him a lump of hot coal to hold. His eyes widen with trepidation.
“What is going on with you now?” Kurt asked.
“She is human,” Odwolf said as if that was enough explanation.
“What does that even mean!” Kurt snapped quietly, glaring at the other Were who was still moving backwards.
Blaze sighed and reached out his hands, gesturing to Kurt to give him the girl. Kurt gladly obliged.
Kurt passed the three remaining explosives with him to Angel and led the others back down the stairs. Angel waited for them to leave and silently counted from one to twenty before going up the floor. He wasn’t surprised to see two guards standing at each end of the floor, patrolling it. He hugged his back to the wall, framing the shadowy stairway, studying the two. When he noted one had earphones on, he moved in his direction, blending into the darkness.
