Chapter 101: Chapter 101

Devon went to Bryan's house and after careful survey, found out that both wife and children were not in the house. She came out fully to confront the servants whose loyalty was admirable.

'They travelled to Serville', they told her when they could no longer keep from speaking to her about their mistress and her daughter.

'How can they go to Serville when Bryan is dying in the hospital?' she asked not believing a word they said.

'That was what we were told and who are we to doubt our mistress?'. She had threatened them with a knife and with the way her eyes were glinting, they were sure they were facing their eminent death but she changed her mind and left and when they spied from the window and saw that she had really gone, they heaved a sign of relief.

The next thing they did was to call their mistress to intimate her that her premonition that Miss Devon was going to come to the house had been right and all that had transpired.

Devon thought hard and decided to look in on David before checking on how Bryan was doing and help them unplug the plug that was keeping him alive so that both she and Sharon would lose him completely because if she can't have Bryan, then Sharon would also not have him. She would not step aside while she took everything from her.

She got there and before she could even position herself to survey and find out if it was necessary to go in or not, she heard childish shrieks of laughter and decided to make a bold entrance.

David was just getting out of the bathroom when she came. Thank goodness he already had his shorts on and he quickly picked a shirt and out it on.

'Devon, this is a surprise visit. To what do we owe this august visit?

'David, you are a good man and I would really hate for you to be hurt. You know the reason I am here. Hand the girl over and you all will be left unharmed'. She threatened.

'And if we don't?'

'Well, all I can say is that you will have yourself to blame because I have no patience with fools who do not know when to give way. Have you considered where your cousin Bryan is? His stupidity got him there '.

'I am not Bryan and will not end up in the same condition as he. You cannot have the girl, she has done you no harm. You have already dealt with her father. Why don't you leave her alone?'

'Hand the girl over! I am tired of these stories you all spin. Stories that touch the heart but they don't touch this heart', she boasted, hitting her chest emphatically.

She brought out both a gun and a knife. 'Make your choice. Which do you want to die by? The knife or the gun? Because you see I am going out of this house today with your goddaughter even if means doing it over your dead body. You see I don't really care'.

David could see that she had gone beyond redemption. Most probably, her sickness was left too long without treatment. If it had been identified early, something might just have been done and could still be done if she was interested but she seemed to be fixated on Bryan and getting him or ruining him so that no one else gets him.

She corked the gun and was suddenly surrounded. She was taken unawares. When had the officers been called but she was determined that she was not going to be caught and she shot in the air and in the confusion made away. No one saw her again it was almost as though she had not been there.

She ran and ran and decided that since Sharon was not with David, she must be with her husband. She would kill two birds with a stone but helping Bryan out of this life and killing Sharon and her son. Then their daughter would know what it felt like to be abandoned by both parents and having to fend for oneself like she had to do before Bryan gave her hope and took the hope away because of Sharon.

Yes, Deborah would have her uncle and godfather but for how long and it would definitely not be the same with having her parents around her.

She heard footsteps running searching for her and she hid until they had missed her and she continued on her trip to the hospital to kill the husband, the wife a d their unborn child.

'Scatter and look for her all around, she could not have gone too far', the head officer ordered and was obeyed instantly.

Devon realised that she had not escaped the search yet and stealthily went to where there was overgrown bush and hid.

She was there listening to their movements and awaiting her cue to run for it when she heard a hissing sound and the head of a viper raised looking at her.

She nearly screamed but caught herself early as she covered her mouth with her hands and found a flat plank which she quickly raised in defence and the snake struck the wood and slithered stealthily away and Devon heaved a sigh of relief.

Hearing their voice far away, she got out and ran, the officers heard her footsteps and ran after her but she had got to the train station and quickly jumped in and the train moved. The police stopped with their hands on their waists looking murderously after the girl who had outsmarted them.

Devon felt like she could do anything and get away with it.

She stopped at the next bus stop and continued on her way to the hospital. She felt famished and stopped on her way to eat. She found that she had a great appetite but no money to pay and asked the man in charge if she could pay him in kind and looking at her a d seeing her raven black beauty, considered her offer and accepted and afterwards, she continued on her way to her destination.

She cried a little be ause she was not going to see Bryan ever again. She had really loved him but he had disrespected and disregarded her love, thrown it back in her face and hell hath no fury than a woman scorned'. She had tried all she could to push Sharon and he apart but they still came back together and he decided to put her away in a house somewhere in the name of treatment. Who told him that she needed any treatment? All she had needed to get her back to her normal functioning and brain waves was just his love but he had told her to her face that he did not love her but Sharon and that was when she had snapped and knew that even he could not be spared.
