EIGHTEEN

A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL

Vincent returned back to the palace and met with Adam and Brenda outside they look so worried.

"Tell me you found her" He said, to Adam but he just shake his head negatively.

"We are going for a run this evening, it's been a while" He said, surprising both Brenda and Adam.

Had he changed his mind about keeping his mate, Laura safe?.

"What happened!" Brenda asked.

"I have no idea either but please no matter what happens in the future, stay away from the Alpha. If he letting Laura go then the park is in trouble again, and he won't spare any flirt from anybody" Adam advised his sister.

"I wasn't flirting with him, duh!" She huffed, a bit annoyed with her brother for calling her a flirt.

"You judge yourself too quickly" Adam replied, turning away to his office to arrange his uncompleted work.

He still needs to deliver the names of the new members in the pack so they can be registered and alot of people have been turning in to train their selves against the coming war so they can protect their families.

"Whatever, I'm going to the market with Victoria to pick some fresh fruits for myself" Brenda scoffed, and talk away also to meet Victoria who was waiting outside the palace already.

"You are here" Victoria looked so excited to see her.

"Yeah, why are you so happy" She asked, curiously.

"Is your brother not coming with us?" Victoria asked, as she looked around for him.

"Really? He is a Beta and he got works to do" Brenda rolled her eyes, with a hope her friend hasn't fallen for his brother.

In this world, the wolves doesn't even care about their Mate but who they love and cherish. Their Alpha isn't an exception to it when he married Jessica and chased their way of thinking but unfortunately after Vincent marriage didn't work out it was hard for them to believe in love anymore.

"Let go" Victoria linked their hands together, ignoring her friend sarcastic behavior towards her and they head to the market to get the fruits.

"So, how is things working out at school?" Brenda asked, since Victoria works at the community school.

"Not been good but okay. Since, Alpha Vincent stop paying the school a visit things had been really hard" She complained.

"Then why didn't you tell my brother about it. He would have passed the message to the king" Brenda said.

"To be honest, it skips my mind anytime I meet with him" She replied.

"Obviously, if you ain't busy lurking around him and having him fall for you" Brenda scoffed.

"What are you talking about?" She asked, grabbing an apple from a fully displayed fruit tray that is been sold by an old lady.

"Spare me all that, I know you like my brother and can't wait to have him so you can move into the palace and live with the royal" Brenda replied, with an eye rolled again.

She was going too far to realize Victoria is already getting pissed off by her already.

"Why are this ego coming from?" Victoria asked, and turned to face her.

"You know what, I don't want you coming to the palace again. There are alot of royal family wanting to be mated with brother and not an ordinary villager like you. Why was I even your friend in the first place, pathetic loser" She fired at her, and walk away leaving her alone in the market.

What's wrong with her? Is this one kind of a joke or something, Victoria thought but she dropped the apple she picked and left the market angrily straight to her home.

Alpha Vincent new attitude towards everyone made the news of Laura missing went viral that even his greatest enemies heard and that push Alpha Maeve, of the blood moon pack to strike again.

Vincent and Adam were on a run but for the very first time Adam was beating Vincent to a race. He knows it's unusual but he happily ran off and stopped at a spot when he felt tired as he shifted back to his body and grab a cloth he had kept to put on after the race.

As he changed into his cloth, Vincent arrived and changed back too then after he put on his clothes.

"What's up with you man?" Adam asked.

"Don't be overjoyed, I wasn't in a race with you" Vincent replied, coldly.

"Is this about Laura missing again?" Adam asked.

"I don't want to talk about it?" he replied, as sit on a wood to take a rest.

"Is this some kind of a spell, you are into her too much and can't even avoid to lose her. I thought you learnt your lesson from the first one" Adam added.

"I said, I don't want to talk about!" He replied.

"You are an Alpha but easily fooled by females. I don't care if Laura was your mate but I don't like her, I will be honest with you. She took you away from everybody completely, now she is gone but you are back like this?" Adam said.

"What don't you understand? I said I don't want to talk about it" He yelled angrily, surprising Adam.

"What's wrong with you?" Adam fired back.

"You know nothing about all that is happening, I know we are friends but you are just below me and I'm expecting a regards from you" He scowled, at him.

"Vincent" He called.

"It's fated, don't meddle with it or you have to pay for it. I need you to help me with something" Vincent replied, with a cool voice surprising Adam on how he could switch emotions so quickly.

"What help?" Adam asked, as his voice soften a bit too.

"I want a file of all the old woman from my father generation that died early last year" Vincent added.

"But why!" He asked.

"I will let you know about everything when it's time but for now. No one else should know about this until everything is resolved" Vincent replied, and walked away but stopped and talk back.

"And by the way, I'm not down because of Laura. She is coming back very soon" He added, and walked away ripping his clothes apart and ran off changing into a raging wolf leaving Adam confused and curious.

Even though, Adam hated the fact Vincent hasn't been opened to him lately about things he doesn't keep to himself before, still immediately he arrived back home. He sent for his personal worker who trusted with some old files and ask him to retrieve all the old death record of last year.

"But, why she?" He asked.

"Collect them and submit it to me first thing tomorrow morning" Adam replied, he wanted to question him again but held his peace and left his presence to get his duty done.

He didn't rest either as he begun to sought out all the necessary documents that can help Vincent too when a knock on the door interrupted him.

"Who is there?" He asked.

"Jessica" She replied, he stopped what he was doing as he rush to the door to confirm if it is true she is actually the one that knocked on his door.

"Jessica" He called, surprised.

"Being a while, can I come in?" She asked, faking a smile.

"Sure" He opened the door and welcomed her in.

"Thanks" She said, and step into his room probably.

"I heard you are now so close with the Alpha" She begun, but Adam already left her to continue with the documents.

"Yeah, sure" He replied, still focused on the documents.

"So how had things been? Have you found your Mate or rather someone you like now!" She continued, but Adam wasn't paying too much attention.

"Why are you here!" He asked, dropping a file and head straight to get a chair for her but Jessica sneaked straight to his table and checked what he was up to.

He returned and found her checking his stuffs.

"What are you doing!" He asked, she jolted back knowing she had been caught.

"Why are you checking the files of a deceased wolf?" Jessica asked, ignoring his question.

"Not a reason you should be going through my stuffs" Adam replied, not ready to spill anything to her.

What can the ex- queen be doing in his room and going through his stuffs.

Jessica is back for something else, not only Vincent hated her for cheating and going after that rogue but he also hated her as much as he hates Laura for leaving Vincent all the time and leaving him cold again.

"I know you are back here because of the queen mother but I want you to stay away from us. Vincent, Brenda and I'm not an exception. You ain't welcomed here anymore but the house can be yours" Adam stated, and dropped the chair for her to seat then he walked towards the paper and arrange them back into his drawer pushing Jessica aside who looked shocked.

How on Earth is she going to convince them all and get her back with Vincent if they are not even ready to starts to conversation with her.

"Why are you been cold towards me, I did what anyone could have done" Jessica scoffed.

"Wow, oh really because Laura is better off than you" Adam replied, raging at her already.

"You are supporting that idiot that is only going to bring the kingdom to doom?" Jessica fired at him, out of jealousy.

"What doom?. There is only one person I know that can bring the kingdom to doom and it's you" Adam fired back.

"What has she done to you because We used to be friends..."

"I'm not your friend" Adam shut her up immediately.

"Laura is possessed, all Alphas are after her because she possessed what can be of a use to them. Her father killed our Deceased Alpha and now she is cursed!" She ranted, but it caught Adams attention.

"What are you talking about?" Adam asked.

"Tell me why you are checking those deceased paper first?" She replied, immediately.

"I won't fall for that" Adam replied.

"Then you have to promise me" She added.

"Promise you?. Why?" Adam shrugged.

"Promise me you will tell me once I open up what your best friend is hiding from you" She replied, unblinking focused eye on him.

"That's a deal" Adam replied, with a slightly closed lipped smile as he stare at her.

"I overheard Vincent and his mother arguing. Its got my attention so I eavesdropped and what I heard shocked me" She said, that a bit tempting emotions because it got Adam attention fully.

"What's that?" Adam asked.

"We need to keep Laura far away from Vincent as much as we can. She is the reason everything bad is coming for this pack after a successful battle war, it's is fated that she is possessed and will be responsible for Vincent death at the full moon war" She narrated, with arms crossed.

"I knew it!, that girl is trouble" Adam hit his palms together, Jessica look around suspiciously with her eye brows up fully satisfied she had gotten Adam's to her side successfully.

"But how do I make Vincent see all this" He muttered lowly to himself but to Jessica hearing.

"I didn't come here without a plan" She replied, Adam turned to her with hands on hearts as he eagerly waited for her to say whatever is going through her mind.

"Help me get Vincent back and I will make him forget everything about that woman. She is not his mate right? , and I haven't even talked to him since I got her because he had been avoiding me but with your help it would be quite easy, right!" Jessica laid down her plans, like she had bewitched him Adam agreed to all her plans but he left out the part of Laura, his Alpha Vincent actual mate and there is nothing to do about it.

"So, tell me. What are you doing with those papers?" Jessica asked, it dawned to Adam he still had to tell her about Vincent new mission.

"I'm afraid I still can't tell you" He replied, all Jessica happy face flew away and her furrowed eyebrows, narrowed her eyes, her hand went on her lips and as much as she had the urge to scream out she still had to control herself to get what she wants.

"Why?" She asked.

"It's Vincent mission, I'm a Beta and I can't belittle myself for that" He replied, Jessica looked more furious as she controlled herself from the thought of pulling his head apart already.

"I guess, I would like to take my live now" She rushed out of his room, leaving Adam confused for a while but he shrugged it off and went back to his business.
