Chapter 85: Chapter 85

Amy stirred her coffee the next morning before taking a sip. She inhaled deeply and placed the cup on the counter as she heard the doorbell. Sighing, she walked over to the door.

"Yes?" She said as she opened it, only to be greeted with the face of Cole's father.

He maintained a stoic look as they stared at each other.

"The semester is done and Tris won't be attending school for now. So, there'll be no need for you to come pick him up for school," Amy said to him.

"I know the happenings in schools, Miss Amy. I'm here to take Tris out with me,"

Amy stared at him. Would it be wrong for her to deny this man his grandson's love? "Isn't it too early? Tris is still in bed," she replied.

"I'll wait. I know you have to leave for work. I just wanted to ask for your permission," he said and Amy sighed.

"Okay, I'll let Kayla know you would be going out with Tris," she replied and he nodded.

She closed the door and walked to the living room. Kayla walked out of her room. "Right on time. I was just about to meet you,"

"Anything?" Kayla asked, placing her hand on head like she had an headache.

"Cole's father is outside and he would like to take Tris out later," Amy said.

"Oh okay," she said walking over to the kitchen.

"Are you alright?" Amy asked, noticing that Kayla wasn't looking alright.

"Just a bad headache," she replied, reaching for the cabinet.

"Take some pills, you'll be fine," Amy said with a smile as she walked up to her and ruffled her hair.

Kayla smiled. "Run along now, or you'll be late for work,"

"Yeah, right. Take care, I love you," Amy said kissing her cheek.

Kayla chuckled. "I love you too," she replied as Amy rushed out of the house.

She was about to walk past one of Cole's father's cars when the bodyguard opened the door for her.

"This way, Miss," he said to her.

She stared at him. "Why?"

"Mr Darrel insisted,"

"I'm fine. I'll take a taxi,"

"The mother of the future alpha of the Dark Moon pack shouldn't be caught in a taxi," Mr Darrel said from behind the bodyguard.

Amy looked over at him. "I'm fine, honestly. You really don't have to," she said.

The bodyguard looked over at Mr darrel and he nodded. He prodded Amy towards the door.

"But," she hesitated.

In the end, she was forced into the car and driven over to Hemsworth Tech company. She turned on her phone and saw countless of messages from Cole. She opened them and after reading, she turned off her phone again. She leaned back in the seat and closed her eyes.

She inhaled deeply as the car pulled to a stop in front of the company. The bodyguard opened the door for her. She stepped out of the car and just as she had thought, her colleagues coming in, were staring at her. This was why she initially refused the offer Cole's father enforced on her.

The bodyguard drove away without saying a word to her. Amy adjusted her bag on her shoulder and was about to walk towards the entrance of the company, when her eyes met with Cole's.

Her heart ached as she felt a sinking feeling down her stomach. She inhaled deeply. She walked towards him and tried to play cool.

"Shouldn't you be at work?" She asked him.

"It can wait," he replied, his eyes fixed on hers.

She nodded. "Okay. I'm running late. I'll head in now," she said and turned away, but Cole held her back.

She took a sharp breath as she felt his hand on her wrist. She turned to him, trying her best to hide the hurt she was feeling, but his eyes were different as they mirrored what she was hiding.

"You have been avoiding me," he said to her.

"I haven't," she replied, simply.

"I sent you messages,"

"I had a flat battery,"

He narrowed his eyes. "You read them, Amy,"

She swallowed as she looked away from him.

"Amy, I'm sorry," he said and reached for her other hand. "The other day, I..."

Amy slowly took her hands away from him. "I have to go now. Have a great day at work," she said with a little smile and walked away as she blinked back the tears that clouded her eyes.

Cole watched her leave and for the first time, he was very scared of her silence. He was scared of the way she smiled when he has known her to always react when she was hurt. He swallowed, thinking of ways to get her back.

Tris went round the carousel, his face full of smiles. His grandfather stood close to the ring, smiling at him. He knew he was not a good father to Cole and wanted to correct that with Tris, by being a better grandfather.

The carousel spun around one more time, before coming to an end. Mr Darrel lifted him off the horse. "That was awesome!" Tris exclaimed excitedly.

His grandfather smiled. "You liked it?"

"A lot," Tris grinned.

"Come on," Mr Darrel said, holding Tris hand. "There is more," he added.

"Are we going on all the rides in the park?" Tris asked as they walked towards another ride.

"Yes. We are going to do everything you want today," he said and Tris grinned in happiness.

Amy tucked her hair behind her ear as she arranged her desk. It was Seven Pm already and closing hours. She picked up her bag and was about to leave when Liam walked out of his office.

"Ready?" He asked her and she nodded. "I'll take you home," he added.

"That won't be necessary. I can get home myself," Amy declined.

"I insist, Amy," he said.

She shook her head. "Please, Liam,"

He decided not to push it any further. "Alright," he replied and Amy gave a little smile.

Together, they headed to the elevator. Both of them said nothing to each other until they got out of the elevator and walked out of the building.

"Good night," Amy turned to him.

"Good night," he replied with a smile.

Amy turned to leave and she saw Cole standing beside his car, waiting for her. She swallowed as she walked closer to him.

"You're here," she dragged out as if she was out of breath.

"Couldn't miss the chance of taking you home," he replied.

She heaved. "Okay,"

He moved aside from the car and opened it for her. She got in and he closed the door. He turned over to Liam and gave a little wave. Liam waved back and Cole got into the car and drove off.

The drive to Amy's house was a silent one. Amy kept her eyes glued to the window, refusing to have eye contact with Cole.

He stole glanced at her, not knowing where to begin. He reached for her hand and covered hers with his. Amy swallowed as she looked at him. The look in his eyes had a hold on her and she couldn't pull away.

At this point, she didn't know if she was angry with him or herself, but one thing she was sure of was she wanted to be with him.
