Chapter 45: Chapter 45

"We're going to the park! We're going to the park!!" Tris ululated all through the drive to the amusement park, and Cole couldn't help but chuckle at his excitement.

Amy, on the other hand, tried to calm him down, but he apparently couldn't contain his happiness.

They finally got to the park, and Cole when they reached the gates, he asked for three tickets. As he searched his pocket for his card to pay for the tickets, he noticed that Amy was also searching through her purse for something.

"Did you forget something in the car?" He asked.

"No," she said with a sigh and brought out some cash from her purse. She stretched it to the gateman. "For the two of us," she indicated.

Cole was perplexed by her actions.

"Wh... What are you doing?" He asked.

"I'm paying for both of us. Or don't you have money to buy yourself a ticket?" She queried.

He was stunned by her question.

"What do you mean by that? Are you being ridiculous? Of course, I have my money with me. What I'm surprised about is the fact that you want to pay for the both of you." He stated.

"What's wrong with that?" She questioned.

"I brought you both of your house to take you to the park, and you think I'd not be able to afford a couple of tickets?" Cole questioned, not knowing whether to take her action as an insult.

"I don't really care if you can afford it or not. I just want to pay for myself and my son, so I wouldn't have any reason to be indebted to you at any point in my life. I don't want you to feel a sense of responsibility over me and my son, either," she shrugged, and gave the money to the gateman.

"Don't take that money!" Cole ordered the gateman.

Both the gateman and Amy were surprised by his words.

"What? Why?" Amy questioned.

"I'm going to pay for you and Tris, and there'll be no argument about it," he said as he searched for his card.

"I still insist to pay for the both of us," she turned to the gatekeeper, "take this money from my hand"

"If you take that money from her, this will be your last day working here," Cole threatened.

The poor gateman didn't know what to do with himself.

"If you don't allow me to pay for me and Tris, then you can as well take us back home," Amy set her foot and folded her arms.

Cole took a moment to stare at Amy in shock. He'd never seen a woman this stubborn in his life.

He opened his mouth to say something, but Tris began whining.

"The sun is setting already! Can't you both cooperate, so I can go have some fun? I thought they said only little children argue like this," Tris groaned.

Amy and Cole were stunned by Tris's blunt words. It was a different experience, being humbled by a little kid.

Cole finally gave in, and allowed her to pay. They soon got inside, ready to have some fun.

"I want to try the rollercoaster!" Tris declared once they got into the park.

"Can't we go for something less… intense?" Amy protested.

"I didn't know you were scared of the intense rides. Come on, let's go look for a ride that you might like... Something with less fun," Cole taunted her, and she picked it as a challenge.

"You know what? Let's try the rollercoaster ride. I was only thinking about you when I asked for less intense rides. I was trying to help," she gave him a jibe of her own.

They paid for the rollercoaster ride, and soon they began seated and properly buckled, ready to launch.

"Are you all ready??!!" The coordinator hollered and he was replied with screams and nervous yells, which he took for a yes.

"Good!! Now we launch in Three..."

Beads of sweat began forming on Amy and Cole's faces.

"Two..."

"Maybe I shouldn't have been overconfident!! What have I gotten myself into?!" Amy yelped in her mind.

"I shouldn't have let her cockiness get to me!! Now, I get go back!! Why did I let her talk me into doing this?!!" Cole cried inside him.

"One!!!"

Amy and Cole shut their eyes tight and held their buckles with all their strength.

"Launch!!!!"

Amy and Cole began screaming at the top of their lungs alongside everyone on the ride as they felt their body projected high into the air with so much force.

Cole promised himself that he wouldn't open his eyes until he was done with the ride, but the wind flapped his eyes open and the curiosity in him helped to keep them very much open.

"Oh my gooooooddd!! This is too high, Amy!!! I want to get down!! I want to get down! Stop the damn ride!!" He screamed in horror and how high they were above the ground.

Amy on the other hand was just screaming as loud as her vocal system could offer. She kept screaming inaudible words and cusses, accompanied with more screams.

Between all the chaos happening, Cole could see Tris having the time of his life, flinging his hands around in excitement

The ride went on for two minutes, and when the coordinators on the ground were tired of making fun of them and laughing their hearts out, they finally ended the ride.

Amy was unbuckled and when she stepped on the ground immediately, due to how weak her legs were.

Cole's eyes were still spinning like he was drunk, so he had to sit himself down for a couple of minutes beside Amy as they caught their breath.

"That was... the craziest... The craziest thing I've ever done in my life!!!" Amy exclaimed when she got her tongue back from the shock.

"Let's go again!! Again!!" Tris tugged at both his parents.

Cole and Amy exchanged glances.

"Not today, Tris. Not today, not ever," Amy managed to say through all her panting.

"Come on! It wasn't even that wild!" Tris protested.

"Mr. Stranger, could you tell my mum that we need to go on the ride just one more time? It wasn't that crazy, right?!" He tried to get his father on his side.

"If your mother says no, then we can't argue with her," Cole stylishly dodged the offer.

"Let's go find something else, at least," Tris begged.
