Chapter 22: Chapter 22
I don't think we finish the whole bottle of wine, Kayla," Amy groaned, her celebratory feeling being replaced by tiredness.
"But we both just had two glasses!" Kayla exclaimed.
"Yeah, and I feel drunk already. Besides, it's getting late. I need to kiss my boy goodnight before he goes to bed."
"You realize we paid in full for this drink right? We need to find a way to finish it," Kayla argued.
"And how do you intend on doing that?"
Kayla gave the question a thought for a moment before coming up with a bright idea.
"Let's take it home!" she exclaimed, and Amy almost died in laughter.
"How many people do you see that are carrying their drinks home? It's either they finish it, or they leave it here. Remember this is a fancy wine bar, and not your regular cheap ass pub," Any teased.
In response, Kayla turned to the bartender.
He looked too young to work in a bar, and looked like this was his first day on the job. Asides his obvious nervousness that made it look like he had no idea what he was doing, the apron was tied the wrong way.
He wasn't the person who served them, actually. The bartender who served them was way older with a lot of beards and muscles. It seemed he went out to take care of an urgent matter, and this young boy came to take his place for the meantime.
"Hello, young mister," Kayla called out to him in a sweet voice, and as if controlled by a remote control, he turned to her immediately.
Amy rolled her eyes, knowing that Kayla was about to use this situation to the best of her advantage.
"Yes, miss?"
"Is it against the bar policy to take an unfinished drink home?"
"Ermm... I... I guess," he stuttered with an awkward shrug.
This guy was definitely a novice.
"So we can take it home right?"
"I... I think so. Yeah," he replied.
"Thank you, young sir," she said and he went back to work.
"One more thing, sir," sha called him back and he took a sharp turn to face her.
"I need a favor... From you"
"What's that?"
"You see... I really like this glass cup. I don't know why, but it catches my fancy. I really want to take it home," Kayla batted her eyelashes at him as she spoke.
"I'm sorry ma'am, but I don't think the bar policy allows that-"
"I know... And that's why I'm asking you," Kayla looked into his eyes and touched his hand lightly, putting on her most seductive voice.
"I need it from you. I know you have a lot of these in the kitchen, so I just need to get your permission to sneak this one out. Can you do this... For me? Please?" She pleaded with a pout and a pair of puppy eyes.
"Ermm... You... You can... Why not... Of... Of course!" He stuttered like he wasn't in control of his tongue anymore.
"Really, I can't believe this! Thank you so much, love! You mean the world to me!" She put on a big smile and Amy stared at the big, boyish grin on the lad's face as he bowed and left them.
Amy wasn't supposed to be amused by this because she had seen Kayla do this a million times, but she could never get used to it.
Asides from her werewolf privileges, Kayla had a witch in her lineage, so she somehow possessed powers to hypnotize people into saying or doing whatever she wanted them to.
However, she liked to term it as the "gift of compelling".
It was a recessive trait, so it wasn't her strong suit, and she rarely ever used it. Still, she knew how to finesse it.
Right now, Amy couldn't decide whether she used her powers, or whether she just used her beauty.
"What? Why are you staring at me like that?" She shrugged like she didn't know what she had just done.
"You're a menace to the society. Just so you know," Amy teased her, and she couldn't help but laugh.
They packed their purses, ready to go, but Amy stopped them.
"I need to go use the ladies. My bladder is about to burst," she pleaded.
"You have such a tiny bladder. Well, you can go, but be fast. I'll be waiting for you outside," Kayla answered and Amy disappeared immediately.
With a sigh, Kayla got up from the counter. Somehow, she'd managed to have both the bottle and glass of wine in her left hand. With her right hand, she had her phone and she was browsing the internet as she began heading for the exit.
All of a sudden, she bumped into something that felt as hard as brick wall.
"What the hell...," She cussed as she retreated.
"I can't believe this," the man muttered in anger.
"Why can't you watch where you're going, douchebag?" She questioned, pissed.
"Am I supposed to be the one to say that to you? You were walking in a public space with your eyes on your phone, and know you've gotten your cheap wine on my suit!" He yelled, trying to clean the stain on his suit with a serviette.
"Hey! This wine is not cheap! We paid good money for this wine!!" Kayla defended in anger.
"Wait... It's... It's you!" The man yelled as he pointed his finger at her.
"What? Do you know me from somewhere?"
"You were the same girl that bumped into me earlier today at my friend's office!" He pointed out.
Kayla took a good squint at him and realized that he was the same that bumped into her.
"So it's you! You thank the Moon Goddess that you don't work in that office. I was so pissed, I had it out for you! I don't even know what unfortunate luck caused me to see you twice today," Kayla eyed him.
He scoffed in response.
"I don't even think I can get angry at you, knowing that it's a disorder you have - this bumping into people and blaming it on them. As for crossing paths twice, it's a mutual feeling. It was unfortunate meeting you," he said and turned, heading for the door.
For seconds, Kayla took rooted to the ground, stricken by his harsh words.
Amy finally came out of the ladies, but she was surprised to see the restaurant in chaos.
A young lady was being held down by grown men from charging at a man who just exited this restaurant. The lady was no other than Kayla.
"What's wrong Kayla?!" She rushed to her.
"Is it not that foolish guy that bumped into me?!! Instead of apologizing, he said all kinds of mean words to me!! Leave me alone!!" Kayla yelled in anger.
It took fifteen minutes to calm her down and peacefully get her out of the restaurant.
