Chapter 13: Chapter 13

Liam was so engrossed with the conversation he was having on the phone with Cole that he could focus on the road.

"Last night was so lit, bro. The club was lit. Apart from the fact that it was filled with those snobbish spoiled brats, the night vibe was on point!"

"Is that so?" Cole asked, very uninterested.

"Yeah! It's a pity you're in a relationship. You could followed me to admire the strippers whining their little waists at the stage. One of them found me so fancy, she left the stage and rocking me," Liam laughed.

"Really?"

"Dude, it was crazy. She was so fucking pretty, and she knew what she was doing. She wasn't a newbie to the business. I knew the ball was in my court, and trust me when I say I didn't play myself. I got drunk, got her drunk and we left club immediately. We had the night of our lives, Cole. I almost died of pleasure. Well, I escaped death by pleasure, but this hangover migraine is starting where the pleasure stopped, in terms of killing me. I don't even know how I'm managing to drive a car to work."

"Mm-hmm"

Liam's laughter died down, and it wasn't long before he felt like he was talking to himself.

"Cole?"

"Yeah?"

"Why are you sounding so absentminded? Why are you whispering monosyllabic answers to my narration?"

"Nothing"

"Cole?"

"Yeah?"

"Where are you?"

Liam got no response.

"Cole?"

"I'm in Tris's school,"

"What?!!"

"Stop yelling!!," Cole whispered fiercely over the phone.

"Wait, I want to get it clear. I don't know if I heard you well. When you say you're in Tris's school, what do you mean exactly? Did you mean you're outside the school waiting for him to come out, or you're inside inside the school?," Liam questioned for clarity.

"I'm in the school's store room, if that makes things clearer for you,"

"Wh... Why are you there, Cole? Don't you have anything else to do? Why didn't you tell me you were going there? And why are you in the schools storeroom, of all places? How did you get yourself there?"

"You told me we needed more evidence, didn't you? Like some sort of DNA test?"

"Yes, and what does that have to do with your being there?"

"I'm here to get it,"

"How? Are you going to go straight to the principal and ask for his fingernails of a strand of his hair?"

"I can't do that, and that's why I sneaked in,"

"You what?!"

"I dressed as a school janitor and found my way in. Thankfully, it's the same color of uniform the others are wearing."

"And what's your plan?"

"I need to meet the boy again. Be his friend. Let him feel comfortable around me. Comfortable to the point where he'll sleep in my arms, I'll take some strands of his hair,"

"You're a crazy bastard, Cole. I don't know how I managed to cope with you all this while,"

"I know I'm crazy. Even I am surprised by my craziness-"

Liam took his attention off the call and screeched his car to a halt at the sight of someone crossing the bend.

"Liam? Is everything alright? Liam-"

"I'll call you back, Cole. Be safe," he said and ended the call.

"There is a reason you have a horn in your goddamn car you motherfucker!!," He heard the young woman yell in rage while she was on the ground.

"Damn. She's really pissed,"

He came out of the car and rushed to her side.

He squatted to the ground and touched the lady tenderly.

"I'm so sorry ma'am. I should've been more careful. Are you hurt-"

"Get your careless hands off my body!!," She yanked her body free from his touch and stood up to her feet.

"Do you know that you almost killed me?! How can you be so careless?!! Didn't you pass your driving test before you wasted your money on a big for nothing car?!!"

She was also at fault for not looking before crossing, but he wasn't going to point fingers.

"Ma'am, I'm sorry. I should've done better. I'm sorry,"

"Just look at how you stained my shirt with coffee," she wailed as she tried to clean it off.

She looked at him and caught him staring at her.

"Why are you mopping at me that way?," She threw him the question.

"Uhmm... I'm sorry ma'am, but why does it look like I've seen you before?"

She scoffed.

"Do I look like a baby? Does it look like you can use that trick on me? What kind of corny line is that? Look, you'll pay for this shirt-"

"Amy?"

She got silenced at the mention of her name.

"How did you know my name?," She asked, confused.

"You don't remember me?"

She took her time to stare at him intently, and after a few seconds of analysing, she eyes widened in surprise.

"Liam?!"

"You do remember me!"

"Oh my God!! It's been so long since I saw you!! I don't think we've crossed paths before highschool!," She said in surprise, and they hugged. She couldn't believe her eyes. Her one time crush was standing right in front her!

"I'm so happy to see you! What are you doing here?!"

"I own this company," he pointed at the building behind her, and marvel at the look of shock on her face.

"Get out of here! Are you serious?! That's really interesting!," She grinned.

"Thank you. How about you? What are you doing?"

"I came here at your company for searching for a job. I actually got invited for an interview last week, but I was really sick. I got recovered today and came here thinking the job would still be available. But according to the receptionist, it's long gone."

"Wait... You actually came here for a job search, and the receptionist told you there was no job vacancy?"

"Yeah. She said there was nothing that could be done, and she threatened to call the security on me-"

"Follow me," he said and walked into the building.

"But I have an interview I need to attend to-"

"Just follow me," he ordered. She had no choice but to follow him back into the building.
