Chapter 55

"Wait, what?" Quinn asked with a bewildered expression on her face

"Yes that was what I heard from Warren through our mindlink. He said that the elders and somehow found out that you were a witch and now they were demanding an audience alone with you. I don't know who was able to let out this information seeing as we never said it outside the four walls of a room but I guess I had forgotten that the walls have ears." I said as I glared around the room menacingly.

"What is going on? How did those stupid old men find out?" Akayla asked as she stared at me with a raised brow.

"If you can't take care of this mess, we don't mind taking Quinn with us" she warned.

I clenched my fist as I glared at her.

Take who away? She was definitely not talking about my Quinn!

"Don't worry! I can handle those old men so just relax and wait for me I'll be back." I assured Akayla through gritted teeth

As I was about to turn around and leave Quinn squeezed my hand and that made me look down at her.

"What's wrong?"

"I want to go with you. They demanded to see me so I will make sure to go. I have told you that I will not hide behind you anymore. You promised to support me so please don't refuse." She stated firmly.

I was a bit unwilling to let her go but seeing the determination in her eyes I knew there was nothing I could do to change it.

I scratched my head and sighed.

"Fine! You can come with me but please make sure to let me know if it is too much for you to handle. You don't have to force yourself to be strong from day one.."

"I know but I'm still doing this."

I sighed again before pulling her out of the room and towards the meeting room. She kept looking around with wonder in her eyes as we got to the large area where the meeting room was located. It could be seen that a lot of work had been put into this area as that was where the throne room was also located.

"Well..... If it wasn't for the fact that we are here on official business, I would have taken you on a tour around here."

"Seriously? Isn't that like not allowed? I mean this is a place where officials come together to meet so giving me a tour would be a bit unideal."

"I'm the Alpha King and I can bring anyone I want with me to anywhere in my territory. Besides, you are my Luna and you will someday gain free access to this place anyways. You might as well get familiar with the place now."

"That is if the fact that I am a witch does not stop me from being your Luna." She said as a head and shoulders drooped and she looked towards the multicolored marble floor.

"What are you saying? You are my mate and the rightful Luna to the whole werewolf realm. If those annoying old men do not accept it then that is their own business. I don't give a crap about any of their opinions as they are corrupt evil and manipulative. Besides we all know they cannot confront me and win so the only thing they would do when we get to the meeting room is to advise me."

""Well I don't want you to fight with the people of your pack just because of me. If the situation becomes too dire, I am willing to leave."

"What are you saying? Leave to where? So far you are still willing to accept me without the influence of anybody then I will never let you go. Let them say whatever they want to say I don't care about any of the opinions." I said as I gripped onto her hands tightly and squeezed it.

Soon we were standing in front of the door that lead into the meeting room. I pushed the door open and Quinn walked in with me.

In the room, the elders both old and newly appointed already waiting for us. My father was also seated in the room looking at me with an expressionless face.

I didn't let any of their judgemental faces or attitudes get to me. I just lead Quinn towards the centre of the room.

We stood side-by-side as I glared at all the elders in the room. We all knew why they were demanding for this meeting so I was waiting for them to get on with it.

They seemed to not be expecting me to come along with Quinn so they shared glances with each other. I knew that after the previous episode of dealing with the corrupt elders they were scared to their bones of me.

They wouldn't have dared to confront me but seeing as this matter was such a sensitive one I'm sure some of them would wanted to use this as an opportunity to try and step on me.

Oh I'll love to watch them try.

After a long silence, An elder sighed deeply before he finally spoke.

"Alpha King, we demanded an audience with your mate alone but since you're already here anyways we won't chase you away. I will just get on with the reason why we are holding this meeting. We got ear of a rumour that our future Luna is apparently a witch. Is this rumour true?"

I knew that this question was just a formality and that all of them already knew that Quinn was a witch. If they didn't know they wouldn't have called a meeting based on untrue rumors. If there were so much as thread of lies in the rumour my father would have not taken time out of his precious life to come to the meeting.

"You all know what the answer to that question is so stop acting ignorant and get straight to the point."I said as I glared at every single one of them.

I could see some of them shiver a bit under my penetrating glare and unsurprisingly, they carried on.

"Okay, it's obviously shows that you have been aware of her kind a while back so why didn't you inform the council?"

"Why would I inform you guys of anything that concerns me or my mate? Do you guys think that because I allow you to make some decisions I have to report every single thing that happens in my life to you? Do know your place as I am still the Alpha King and I can make you disappear with a snap of a finger." I warned as I glared menacingly at the elder.

I could see that the elder was trembling and he kept swallowing but surprisingly and impressively he continued his nonsense.

"Alpha King that is not what I am implying. All I am saying is that you do know that we have been mortal enemies with witches for years now. You are even the one that ended the war that spanned out for years among witches and werewolves. The war may have ended but the enemity did not as we only signed a peace treaty under your behest. So I needed to know why you didn't deem it fit to inform anybody once you found out that your mate was a witch. If we allow her to be our Luna, that is like a slap on our faces. We cannot allow a witch to rule over us werewolves."

"That is not for you people to decide! Quinn is my mate and that will not change even if she is a witch. So caution yourself when you speak to me in that way. I make the decisions about my life and I am telling you now that Quinn will be my Luna. If you old baffons cannot accept that then you can go and rot in hell for all I care."

My father abruptly stood up and I could see that he was fuming and figurative smoke was coming out of his ear. It would obviously be since he was the one that started the war between witches and werewolves in the first place.

"Kayden! Was this what I raised you to be? How dare you try to make a witch the Luna over all the werewolves? This will never happen as it will only be possible over my dead body. Know your place son! You might be Alpha King as of now but I have ruled longer than you. I am ordering you as the ex Alpha King and your father leave Quinn now." He roared and I was sure he was expecting me to just bow and follow his command but he is sorely mistaken.

"Father! With all due respect, I will not let you interfere in the relationship I have with my mate. If it were to be that I should leave Quinn, then you will just have to take the throne all to yourselves." I announced loud enough for all of them to ear.

Gasps echoed in the room.

What were they gasping about? They had always given me obstacles during my rule as the Alpha King.

"What use is having the throne if I cannot implement decisions for myself? Whether you like it or not father, Quinn is my Luna and that will always remain unchanged." I announced with dominance before I turned to leave without giving them a chance to talk.

"Kayden! Come back here this instant! How dare you walk away from me? Kayden!!!!" I heard my father roar behind me but I walked without looking back while pulling Quinn along.

I leave the meeting room and headed towards my room.

Once we were there, I opened the door and allowed her to enter the room before closing the door behind me.

I was then able to now observe her reactions and it was then I noticed that she didn't even look fazed by all that just went down.

If it was previously, I was sure Quinn would have broken down in tears at the rejection she faced from those old baffons as well as my father.

I was impressed and I had to admit that I liked this version of Quinn.

She kept looking around my room and I could see that she looked impressed but I still teased just to lighten this test atmosphere.

"So, how do you like my room? Does it scream nice and handsome or brutal and ugly?"

"Well I guess all I see is a touch of you everywhere."

She sighed and I knew what was coming next.

"Kayden! I have already said it before that you really don't have to go against so many people just to protect me. I may have not felt hurt by how the elders condemned me for being a witch but that doesn't mean that I didn't hurt when I realised that you were putting everything on the line just to secure me a position by your side."

I walked closer to her and held her hand.

"I keep telling you in every way possible that it is my right to protect you from these kind of things. You're my mate, my partner, my Luna and most especially my love." I paused to gauge her reaction but once I saw none, I continued.

It was high time I confessed to how I really felt.

"I may have not send it directly before but the past month that have been together I have tried to show it. I found that I had fallen deeply for you." I sighed before continuing.

"At first it was just the mate bond pulling me towards you but as I grew to know you better, I understood my feelings for you. As I watched your ups and your downs and how you overcame a lot of trials, I found myself falling deeper for you. I know that this might be the weirdest time to confess my feelings but I just had to say it. I love you Quinn."

My heart is pounding in my chest as I confessed my feelings to her. This was the first time I had bared my heart open for anybody I knew that probability of her loving me back was quite low seeing as she just escaped a traumatic experience, but a man could hope.

I observe her expression for a while longer and when she remained unchanging my heart sank. I was expected to be the strong and unfeeling one in a relationship due to the fact I was the Alpha King but I also did have a heart.

I could already taste the rejection and boy was it bitter.

I clenched my fist tightly till my knuckles became white but my face was still calm and collected.

I smiled at her and said "I understand if you do not feel the same way back but at least let me love you."

When she still didn't respond my smile dropped as well as the facade that I put on my face.

Does she also not want my love? Am I not enough for her?

"It's also okay if you cannot accept me. It is what it is" I said as I gritted my teeth and turned to leave the room.

Just as I was about to walk away, I felt the touch of a hand on my shoulder. I was immediately overjoyed thinking that she had accepted my feelings but what she said next shattered my heart completely.

"I am sorry Kayden, but I don't accept your love"

Oh! I was expecting that but it surely did hurt.
