Chapter 92: Chapter 92

****

Adrian is napping, I've been trying to get him up for a long time now but he won't put out. He bathed and came back to bed, snuggling against me so badly. I slept so peacefully in his arms, nothing seemed to matter at all. Angel didn't exist but now I'm awake, it's time to get back to reality, Angel is alive and she's having Adrian's baby soon. As much as I would like to stay in this room forever, reality awaits, and it's a fucking bitch.

Adrian's hand traces its way down my waist until it finds my ass, squeezing it in his hand. I know he's awake now, he is simply acting lazy because just like me, he doesn't plan on acknowledging reality just yet but he can't pretend none of this happened. It's not a coping mechanism, Adrian needs to be a father to that child and sadly, I don't see him ready enough just yet, he would be a trying father but I will push him to be the best for that child.

“Adrian, I know you're awake. Stop pretending and wake up Adrian!” I whine.

He shifts in his pretentious sleep. “Hmm,” he grunts, his eyes still closed. “My name is baby, Mia—I'm baby, darling, sweetie, daddy, my love or boyfriend and I will not accept being addressed as anything but one of those terms.”

I huff, feigning a gasp as I stir in his tight embrace. “You call me Mia, and that's my name, so cool Alpha.”

“No, I call you mine. I don't call you Mia because it's your name, I do it because you're mine.” he says, the last word accompanied by a yawn.

“Well, daddy, I'm hungry.” I whisper, my tone squeamish in every sense of the word. In response he brushes my back with his hand.

“Do you want me to take you out for lunch?”

I shake my head against his chest, I don't want to go out for anything, I have plans with Belle. We are supposed to go shopping for his birthday present, his birthday is two days away and he seems completely indifferent but I don't, I'm excited for him. He'll be two years older than me and sadly, my birthday comes three months after his.

Adrian's hold on me loosens and I grin, taking the chance to slip out of his embrace. If we stay here any longer, my panties will drop quicker than you can say my name. He groans in annoyance, rubbing his eyes as he sits up. When his gaze meets mine, I'm blinking at him with a pout.

He steps off the bed, his hand dragging me with him, messing my bed up in the process. I fuss about it but he doesn't seem to care. Once he's on his feet, he gives me his back, squatting and looking over his shoulder at me. “Get on,” he asserts. I waste no time, jumping on his back with full force that makes him feign a hurtful grunt. “Easy less, you're going to break my back.”

In response, I plunge my elbow into his back in a slightly playful manner but hurtful. He pretends not to feel it but I know it was effective, he secures me on his back and grabs his off my dresser before moving towards the door. I'm happy on his back, so happy that instinctive giggling overpowers me, making him laugh too.

The laughter filled moment is short lived when I spot Angel and Ciara leaning against the wall talking in what I can only describe as washed-out whispers. Ciara is the first to see us approaching, she nudges Angel to alert her and Angel looks over her shoulder with a scowl.

I suck in a breath, “Coloqueme hacia abajo por favor.” I say, unsure of why I'm using Spanish with Adrian when I know full well he doesn't understand it. Still, Adrian sets me down, somehow understanding what I said but the moment my feet hit the ground, he wraps his arm around me, tucking me under him. I suppose it's a defensive mechanism against Angel or perhaps it's his clingy nature towards me reflecting right now. Regardless of what it is, I'm okay with both.

My feet begin to move forward, Adrian following my lead aimlessly, I don't even feel the cold of the marble floor thanks to my socks. My feet halt when we reach Ciara and Angel, call it a reflex action because I wasn't planning on stopping here but now that I have, let's face the music.

Angel straightens, her face pulling into an empathetic gaze. I ignore it, she's not sorry, I know for a fact she wanted this and she's shocked to see me, I saw it in the way she scowled at us. “Hi,” she lets out, sick of the stare down but I'm not just yet, part of me is assessing her face for something I don't have that drove Adrian to her.

Eyes? No, I have two of them too or maybe it's because her’s are normal color? Nope, Adrian likes my eyes.

A nose? Well, perhaps hers is cuter.

Lips? Mine are fuller, maybe that's the issue.

Cheek bones? Mmmm, I don't know.

Or is it the rest of her body? I'm pretty sure I'm thicker in most areas than her or she's just better at sex than–

No, I give myself a mental slap, a hard one to snap me out of it as I return her greeting. My eyes trail down her body, to describe in relation to mine since insecurity has already sunk in. Only now do I notice the tiny bump on her stomach, how did I miss this before?

Angel was hiding it pretty good and now, She's already showing off her baby to the world. I almost gag at the sight, I'm not fully for the idea but I'm trying to be supportive. “How are you?” I ask, flickering my gaze from her stomach to her and Ciara to indicate my question is directed towards them both.

Angel opens her mouth in what seems like a panicked motion, “Umm, I just want you to know I didn't plan this, I'm sorry.”

I nod awkwardly, my teeth baring themselves. “Yea, sure. You didn't plan on it or anything but it's already happened and I'm okay with it. I admit I was upset about it and said some mean things.” I murmur, my gaze drifting to Adrian before back to her. “ I know mistakes happen and besides, Adrian and I are fine. I'm happy for you, and for him, maybe having a baby will help him wise up and I'm glad I don't have to pop one out just yet, thanks.” I giggle, and Ciara echoes it. I run my tongue over my lips and sigh, “I want you to know I am here for whatever but I'm not washing nappies or changing diapers but I will babysit whenever, I love kids.”

“Oh, so you're not Mad?” Ciara urges, studying me closely for a reaction but I give her none that she's looking for.

I shake my head, my lips stretching into a grin. “Nope but like I said, I was mad but some people reminded me that if you love someone you'll stand by them and I love Adrian more than anything he means the world to me, nothing will make me hate him. If I were to give up on him I'd have done it long ago but I realize we all have different roles to play and I'm not giving mine to anyone.” I say, my gaze drifting to Angel. “I love it, I can't wait to be a step mom and I'm sure you can't wait to be a mom either I know it might be scary but we're here for you me, Adrian, your friends and everyone and we're going to help you with whatever you need right baby?” I ask, my eyes peeking at Adrian, he doesn't respond so I nudge him in the side with my elbow. His gaze is on Angel's baby bump but he quickly shifts, it's like reality slapped him in the face a second time.

“What?”

“I was just telling Angel she can count on me for whatever she needs.” I murmur, leaning closer into him.

He nods, “Right, didn't you say you're hungry baby?”

“Yeah,” I slur, “I'm hungry. Angel, do you want anything? I'll have it sent for you.”

Angel shakes her head and I nod, my lips stretching into a grin as Adrian sweeps me into his arms. I meant every word I said to Angel, she can count me for whatever she needs, I'm one-hundred percent willing to help her out through the remaining three or five months of her pregnancy, depending on how long she carries. Arielle carried Liam for six months, she had a complicated pregnancy, but the baby was utterly healthy.
