Chapter 82: Chapter 82
****
I sit in the waiting room, scrolling through my phone aimlessly as I wait for Adrian and Angel to return. To the lady sitting across me, I'm probably on social media or playing a game on my phone, but in reality, I'm focused on something else. I'm trying to see how things will go from here onwards, Angel's child would get every right as his first child and overshadow Camilla and his child.
Looking at it from a previously scorned woman's point of view, that child is a reminder Adrian cheated but to Angel, it's a reminder that she and Adrian shared something special.
Adrian won't ask her to get an abortion and she won't suggest it, she's happy to have a baby with him knowing full well that's all they'll ever have between them. Angel wants to be connected to Adrian forever but child or no child, she would be his friend, if only she got her head out his ass and focused on more pressing matters, like how much harm she has caused his union with his mate.
The ride here was very quiet, well on Adrian's part it was. He was presumably contemplating the follow up decisions after this. On our way here, he called Jeremiah, a biomedical research doctor who happens to work here. Jeremiah said he can get a DNA test with accurate results in three hours time.
I don't see the need for one when he could very easily smell her, pregnant women smell different compared to the normal scent and their mate can normally smell his offspring on her. I'm sure Adrian can smell his progeny on her but part of him wishes for it to be untrue, hence the DNA test.
Angel wasn't so quiet, she spoke on the phone half the way here. Most of her conversations were with Liliana, her confederate in everything she does. Wait, Camilla was with Ciara earlier, does Ciara know? If she knows she probably told Camilla, is that why she went upstairs without bringing Adrian the glass of water he had asked her for?
So many thoughts are running through my mind but all I can do is hope Camilla finds out from Adrian first, it's the right thing for him to do. She must hear it from him before Angel decides to throw it in her face despite Adrian's warning.
Angel's voice breaks through my thoughts, the sound irritating me because now that she's pregnant, she will throw it in everyone's face and most likely make our lives complicated with this pregnancy.
Scratch that, our lives are already complicated, they could only get worse from here and she has the potential to make that happen. I can't put anything past her, Angel has nothing humble about her and being pregnant with Adrian's baby is a sure boost to her ego.
I pocket my phone and turn my face in the direction of Angel and Adrian, she's hot on his trail, mumbling nonsense and playing the prey she will never be. “You can't act like this is my fault.” She sobs, following Adrian as he walks in my direction silently.
Angel is trying to act like she wasn't hopping on his dick every chance, he might not think anything of it but I'm certain she planned this baby and it's entire life before it came to exist. Nevertheless, I say nothing to him, he is angry and conceivably confused with a little bit of shock. I understand how he might feel, we were supposed to go to the hotel but we're here, getting a DNA and scan for a child he didn't know existed until nearly two hours ago.
Michelle is standing at her office door, ushering in the next patient. Adrian and Angel were getting an ultrasound done by her, she looked equally shocked as I did when Angel said she was pregnant.
Michelle has no fondness or detest towards Angel but she has always been civil with her. I rise from my seat at the same time that Michelle goes back into her office, showing no emotion. Any other sister would be mad about her sister's mate having a baby with her rival but Michelle has never once acted sentimental towards her sister, the only time I saw her look worried was when she tried to commit suicide a few months ago.
“All done? Or you'll be waiting for Jeremiah to bring the test results?” I ask, pocketing my phone.
“Umm, he will call later. Let's go.” He says, his tone breaking.
We begin to move but Angel takes my seat, unmoving. Adrian glares at her and she wipes her tears, “I will find my own way back home. Cia is picking me up.”
I don't bother trying to persuade her, instead I keep walking and Adrian follows me as well. He doesn't say a word to her or to me.
Once we're in my car, I open the back windows. I was serious about not wanting Angel's perfume lingering in my car. I have had a few girls in my car and their scent doesn't bother me but Angel's scent does for loyalty reasons, loyalty to Camilla.
The silence becomes unbearable, I finally speak. “So...” I begin, dragging the 'o' until I can think of something to say, but nothing.
Thankfully Adrian intervenes, “I don't know Santiago.” He sighs, “What am I supposed to do now? She's really pregnant and Michelle said the baby is healthy so there's no need to worry.”
“That's great I guess, but you have to tell Camilla.”
“Soon, I'll tell her once I figure out how to break the news to her. It's a lot to take in but this is happening, I didn't think I would be a dad so soon especially not to Angel's child and yet, here we are.” he sighs, looking out the window. “Camilla will flip when she learns about this.”
Taking a left turn, changing my initial route to take Adrian somewhere he always finds peace and better advice than I can give to him. He needs advice from someone logical and unbiased to the matter, I for one only care for Camilla in this situation. I feel no remorse for Angel because she chose to interfere with Adriana and Camilla, she could have given up on him the second she saw Camilla but she didn't. Angel and Adrian held no secrets thus I know she was aware Camilla was his mate from the start but she was too blind to see the love he had for her.
“Where are we going now?” He asks.
“To get you some advice from the queen, I can't help you with this matter and I'm sure you don't want to tell mom or mother about this but you know what? I think Camilla will be mature about this, her friends are who you should worry about. Cami will understand that this was before you made her a promise of never touching another woman while you're together.”
“You think?”
“Positive.” I lie, I'm not sure of what I'm saying but he needs to hear this right now. I should be scolding him like I usually do but I can't, I don't know where to begin with my orations about faithfulness and all that shit. I won't speak in his favour or against him, I will simply support whatever he wants to do and as far as his relationship with Camilla goes, I can only hope she forgives him and this soon to be new edition to their lives doesn't cause problems in their relationship.
