Chapter 111: Chapter 111

“But,” he begins. Leaning forward but not too close to me and I don't have to peer up at him from this angle because he's leaning against my ear. “It's okay, I don't mind you being an asshole, I like it.” he whispers. A giggle escaping my parted lips, causing him to feign a gasp, but real shock evident in his expression. “What was that, did you –”

I shake my head, trying not to be amused by his shock. I can laugh. “Don't, if you tell anyone I won't hesitate to make your daughter fatherless.” I say, walking away from him.

He follows closely behind me, “Okay.” I hear him say, “I won't mumble a word but, only if you tell me something.”

I roll my eyes, my gaze shifting to him. “What?”

“Promise you'll answer my question,” he says softly.

“Bro, I don't have to promise you shit.” I contend.

“Come on, I helped you rescue your pack members. There must be some code of ethics here,” he counters.

I sigh, nodding for him to go ahead. “What am I promising you?”

“To tell me why you're this newly birthed demon. I know you weren't always like this because your friend seems too shocked by this. Scared even,” he lets out.

Scared? So I was right, she is frightened by me. I shrug towards Beta, “Well, just a few ungrateful people.”

“Really?” he urges, his tone giving off a hint of surprise.

“I don't want to discuss that ever, if anything, shut up. Let's just get your daughter back.”

“Okay Alpha of the Vulnerable, what did you sign on that paper?” he asks, ignoring the point of my entire remark.

“I don't have to tell you anything, I'm not your friend.” I sneer.

“I don't make friends with pretty women especially not the ones that kill my pack warriors and Alpha.” he muses, making me smirk and snort.

“Let's just get your kid.” I groan, looking away from him and solely focusing on the road.

“Hmm, it's night in case you haven't noticed and we can't show up covered in blood. I know a twenty-four hour store and a hotel close by, we can stay there for the night.”

I growl.

Wait, I can growl?

I had no idea the only thing I've ever done is bring out my claws and fix them when I please. I suppose with my eighteenth birthday drawing closer, the wolf in me is getting more dominant.

I don't need to give him approval to follow him. The entire way to the store, Kingston won't stop arguing with me over petty things, like my pronunciation of certain words that he makes me try out. He is annoyingly cute for that and I see how I missed Mirabelle and everyone else left us behind. We're crossing the road, my feet are killing me, my gladiator sandals nearly worn out while Kingston argues about the shade of green that the traffic light is. I said apple green and he insisted it's emerald green which I doubt is correct either.

“You win, shut the fuck up Beta.” I holler, annoyance noticeable in my tone.

“Alright luna.” he replies, flashing me a smile.

“Kingston,” I warn.

“Camilla.” he echoes, conforming to my tone.

“You're very annoying, why are you acting like a 4 year old?”

“Why are you acting like my dead grandma?” he counters, making me break the pace of my stride. I shake my head, and he goes on talking. I listen to him tell me about how I murdered more than fifty people mercilessly and thats when it hits me, I actually killed me.

I have invariably been against turmoil of any form but now I'm practising it in its worst form. I have become everything I hate and there's no going back now. A lamp grows in my throat and I swallow it, unable to cry again, I won't cry ever.

Beta opens the door to the clothing store, holding it open for me. “Go on, Bill is on me, get whatever you would like.”

“I can buy myself things Beta.” I tell him, stepping past the door so he too can enter, and he does, an eyebrow raised at me. “Kingston,” I correct myself.

“Alright Alpha Camilla.” he grins.

I return his gesture, walking further into the store. He goes to the men's section while I stay at the women's section, shopping seeming to be annoying for me. I pick two dresses to try on, both grey. One shorter than the other, aside from that, I picked a pair of nike slides. I pay for the outfit using mobile banking, I have three bank accounts, excluding the one funded by Adrian. My accounts altogether hold about fifteen million, I always get money from my siblings and never had use for it. Even Michelle sends money to me monthly despite having little or no communication over the past few years.

Michelle and I have always had a weird relationship in comparison to that I have with my other siblings, I know she comes across as a bitch and cold hearted but she actually feels the most. She has this fear of not being good enough as a person, I think that's what drove her medical career to the top. She does more than enough and I hope one day, she realises this fact.

Morning came quick, perhaps because I was too busy arguing with Kingston to focus on how long the night is. Kingston had offered how to let me use his phone to check my social media because every teen is obsessed with social media but I denied his offer, I'm not a regular teen. I'm a seventeen year old girl that just murdered half a pack and is spent an entire night arguing with the Beta of that very pack after she drained his phone battery by watching homicide documentaries to get her mind off her best friend and the people she's now legally responsible for.

I admit they're a bit weird but they're a habit I've picked up from Tee, she enjoys watching those more than she does movies but her all time favorite genre is animation movies, it makes her feel like it makes me, safe.

An Uber was requested by Kingston, it took us to his desired location, freshly showered, all my wounds from yesterday healing with the bandages and band aids Kingston forcefully put on me. However, he himself didn't bother to tend to his bruises and wounds, but hypocritically compelled me into it.

I could have easily said no to his request but I've easily found that he shuts up when you give in to his absurdity and hypocritical demands.

The ride to Xuiato was quiet, I hated it. The silence was so loud in my head, it created so much uneasiness for me. Lucky for me, Beta didn't shut up. When we made it to Xuiato, he was all talk. His sister in law's house is in a central location, there's several kids out here, it seems like a costume party and too early for one in my opinion.

Kingston reaches into his pocket, his hands emerging with his phone. He presses something into it and brings it to his ear, “I'm here, bring Karla out to the main playground.” he says softly. “Bitch, I said get your ass.out.here.” he roars.

I try not to make a smart ass remark about his change of attitude. Less than a minute later, a lady comes out and meets us where we are. Her hair falls neatly around her neck, big blue eyes shining bright and purple lipstick gracing her lips. I take a second to assess her from the hair to the feet, her figure is immaculate, she could very easily be a model. I have one word to describe her but it's slipping my mind. I take another glance at her, she's–perfect, that's the word.

“What do you want?” she snarls, her gaze momentarily drifting to me.

“Brittany, nice to see you too.” Kingston says, no pleasantry whatsoever present in his tone.

“You disturbed my work, what is it?”

Okay thank God she's not talking to me because I would straight up flatten her balloon boobs to the point where her surgeon would quit.

“Where is Karla?” Kingston asks, his hand swiping his nose with the index finger.

Brittany rolls her eyes, chewing on gum I didn't notice she had in her mouth. “Viviana is asleep, she was up late last night so come back later.”

“Bree, I've told you on numerous occasions not to deviate from my daughter's name.” he snaps, the softness I had seen disappearing.

“My sister named her Viviana,” Brittany counters, grinning like a Cheshire.

“My sister,” he echoes, his tone mimicking her own. “The same one that abandoned her for some dick? Is that whose choice for a name I should respect? Listen here Brittany, just bring her out so I can see her for a minute and ill bring her back tonight.”

“No,” Brittany snorts, “You can't take her away. We had an agreement, you can't raise her with that busy schedule! You're basically –”

I walk away, leaving them to what seems like their continual argument. Brittany as I've learned her name insulted his potential as a parent and he stayed quiet about it. If I'm going to find his daughter, I have to start with the playground all the kids are tinkering at. Kids play with all kids right? So one of them must know Karla or Viviana like her current custodian referred to her.I see a little boy dressed in a batman costume and call out to him, “Hey. Come here for a second.” I say softly, he doesn't hesitate to. He comes fast, his little feet running to meet me despite the close distance between us.

“What's your name?” I grin, peeking down at him.

“Preston,” he says, smiling back at me.

“That's a nice name Preston, and a very cool costume or are you really Batman?” I whisper, pretending to look around for wandering ears.

Preston giggles, his head shaking. “Alright,” I shrug. “So Preston, I'm looking for someone. A little girl, Karla or Viviana.”

“Umm, I don't know Viviana but I know Karla's, the pretty one and the other two ones.” he giggles.

“Can you show me Preston?”

He worries over my question but nods still, his gaze turning to the princess jumping castles. “That's crybaby Karla, the pretty Karla who fights with my twin sister Linda everytime and the other Karla, she bites.” he says, pointing to each of the girls as he describes them.

I look at the three girls, the pretty Karla as the boy addressed her looks a little like Kingston. She has his hair, I look back at Kingston and then at her, they're both arguing with someone and wiping their nose after a while. Yep, definitely his kid, she looks like she's close to tears but not dropping the fight.

I reach my hand out, curling it into a fist. “Thanks bud.” I say to Preston, bumping his fist
