Chapter 7: Chapter 7

"What's going on?" Chris asked.

His voice seemed to snap Isabelle out of her happy trance as she pried away from his embrace. She pushed him away slightly and turned around her cheeks flaming hot. She ran her hand to her neck awkwardly as she pursed her lips to stop herself from smiling.

What in God's name had she just done? She closed her eyes and all she could think of was his musky scent. And the sparks...

Chris looked down at his empty arm and to his mate who had her back turned to him. He smiled and approached her.

"Isa?" He called.

She blushed at the nickname as she turned around keeping a hard stoned face.

"Matilda is awake. Can I go visit her?" She asked. The thought of her sister being awake since being in a coma for 18 years brought a smile to her lips. They would definitely make up for the whole 18 years they had lost.

She would take her out, they would have fun, so much fun, shop together, have a sleep over, sleep together, make breakfast together, her sister would cut the onions.. She really missed Matilda.

"Isa? Are you listening to me?" Chris said bringing her out of her plans.

"What? No." She said grinning.

"I said I would like to meet your sister so we should go together." Chris said again.

"Umm... What if she asks my relationship with you? I don't even know what to call this relationship, so just come next time. Let me go alone this time." Isabelle said.

"Oh... I'll drive you there then." Chris replied looking slightly hurt and he nodded.

"Sure, thanks. Just give me 10 minutes to dress." She replied pointing at her cloth.

"I think you look good this way." Chris replied shrugging.

"Get out." Isabelle said jokingly as she pushed him out.

Chris stood in front of her door as he smiled to himself. Seems like she wasn't ignoring him anymore or was it because she needed his help? He would ask her later.

"Okay, what's the name of the hospital?" Chris asked looking up at her face.

She had dressed in a red mid length gown with a leather jacket worn over it.

"Trinity Hospital. It's not far from my... house." Isabelle replied.

"Oh...okay." Chris said and swerved right out of his garage. The passed through woods for a while before they finally saw street.

"So, are we good?" Chris asked keeping his eyes on the road.

"Hmm?"

"I mean, you're accepting me as I am? Werewolf and all?"

"I mean, I see the reason you lied and kept it a secret from me. Really, if I found out a day after I arrived at your... place, I most certainly would have freaked out and run away. But... I trust you and Dolores won't do anything to me. I mean, you guys didn't even when I didn't know your true... should I call it identity or form? I think I'm sticking with form."

That earned a chuckle from Chris.

"So I think we're good." She finalized.

"You think or are we?"

"We're good." She said shrugging and looked out the window as trees rushed past.

"Thank you." He replied gratefully.

Isabelle didn't reply as she was filled with thoughts, did she make the right choice just now? It was true, they didn't make any attempt to do anything to her since she arrived except the locking in and stuff but she has her freedom now and nothing threatened it. She was even on her way to see her sister.

She smiled at the thought and open her mouth to breathe on the window forming a fog. She raised her hand and drew a smiling emoji and then a heart.

She sighed and rest her head on it. Soon, she fell asleep again.

Chris glanced over at her and stopped the car for a minute. He sighed and moved closer to her.

"You have no idea how happy I am to hear you saw that. Thank you." He mumbled and reached over to kiss her forehead. He smiled at her as she smiled in her sleep. He chuckled and sat upright continuing thier journey.

He reached the hospital after one hour, that was how far they were from civilization. They didn't want a human stumbling upon their pack lands thereby wasting his or her life in the process cause most of them were proclaimed insane.

Who would believe a person who said he saw a person turn into a wolf? No one.

"Isa? We reached." He said lightly shaking her with the same lightness. She woke up blinking her eyes before yawning. Even though it was in the car, she still had a good sleep. One without the nightmares.

She turned to look at Chris who was looking at her as if she was the most interesting thing in the world.

She blushed scarlet and averted her gaze to the building in front of them.

TRINITY HOSPITAL was written in bold with a emergency plus sign beside it.

"Oh, we reached. Thank you!" She said and without waiting for a reply she jumped out of the car. She practically ran to the reception. The nurse on duty welcomed her with a smile since they all knew her.

"Isabelle! Been a while since you last came here. Hope all is well?" The nurse asked.

"Yeah. I've just been busy. Still the same ward?" She asked smiling.

"Yep. Congratulations." The woman said after her.

"Thanks." She replied and pressed the elevator button. She waited a while for the elevator to come down. Immediately it arrived, she jumped in it.

"Hold the door for me please." She heard an old woman's voice. She immediately reached out to press the elevator button again. The elevator reopened and in came an old woman who smiled gratefully at Isabelle.

"Thank you very much, young lady. You know, I have a grand daughter your age. She's just so..." Isabelle zoned the woman out as she looked up at the elevator number counting.

It reached her sister's floor as the elevator opened.

"This is my stop. Nice to meet you, grandma." She smiled and waves at her.

"You... you're destined for great. Don't leave him, he needs you the most. Your true form will be revealed when you bear the mark." The woman said instead holding the elevator looking up at her before giving her a smile.

Isabelle looked at her baffled and tilted her head.

He? Who? What mark? What true form? What was she saying?

"Hold the door please." A man's voice said from behind snapping her out of her thoughts. She reached out to press the button to hold the elevator. The elevator door opened revealing an empty elevator.

Isabelle's eyes widened as she shivered. Where did the old woman go? Where was she? Who did she just see right now? Was she sick now that she was seeing things?

"Remember what I told you. Keep it in mind, dear." The woman voice said in her head again. She turned around looking around the hallway but she saw no one.

The elevator had long gone.

"Isabelle Smith?" She heard and she swirled around meeting with her Sister's Doctor.

Her face immediately lit up at the smiling face. She walked to him beaming with smiles.

"Good day, Doctor." She said bowing slightly.

"How are you?" He asked.

"I'm very fine. Matilda?" She asked.

"Very stable. You can meet her now, trust you know where she is?"

"Like the back of my hand." She said grinning.

I mean, why wouldn't she? 18 years was no joke. Of course she knew this hospital in and out even more than some new doctors.

The doctor watched her go and he looked down at the report. In all actuality, Matilda was supposed to have a stiff body. After all, it had been 18 years since she had last moved. But, surprising enough, she moved her body like she had already mastered it. Like she was never in a coma. It baffled the doctor but he shrugged it off. Must be a miracle.

She stopped in front of her sister's ward to see her flipping through channels. She groaned and shut off the TV. Her eyes flickered to the door where their eyes met. Isabelle slowly opened the door and walked in with tears in her eyes.

"Strawberry?" Her sister called.

"Onion." She replied with tears running down her face. Her sister opened her arms and Isabelle ran over engulfing her in a hug.

"I fucking missed you, you fool." Isabelle said patting her back.

"So did I." Matilda replied sniffing.

Isabelle broke the hug and cupped her sister's face in her palms.

"Let me look at your face."

Matilda took her hands from her face and pulled her in kissing her forehead.

Isabelle sat with her sister till night time catching up on what they had missed. But they couldn't cover it all today.

"It's getting late. Would you spend the night here?" Matilda asked.

"Uhm... Let me check my phone." She said and saw the time widening her eyes. She had used almost 5 hours here and she totally forgot about Chris!

"I can't... I'll see you tomorrow. Love you." Isabelle yelled running out of the ward bag and shoes in hand.

"Hold the damned elevator!" She yelled when it was about to close. She saw it open and she practically ran into it.

"Thanks." She breathed out and sighed.

The elevator stopped at the first floor and everyone trooped out. Isabelle who was still holding her sandals and didn't want it to stain anyone was the last to come out.

She walked out of the elevator and immediately made for the front door.

"See you had good time with your sister?" She heard again.

She internally groaned and turned to face the nurse with a smile...

"Yeah. Byeee." She yelled racing to the door where she collided with a hard chest.

"Ouch!" She said holding on to her forehead as she felt a migraine creeping in.

"Watch where you're going!" A gruff voice said.

She looked up at the man and glared at him.

"You were the one who didn't watch where you're going! And now you're saying I should watch where I'm going. You collided into me! You should apologize not push the blame around." She said rubbing her forehead.

"What did you say to me?!" The man shouted thunderously.

"I said..." She hadn't gotten the chance to continue as the man threw her a deafening slap. She stumbled back as she held on to one of the waiting chairs for dear life.

She blinked her eyes as she felt her face turn pink. There was no doubt she was going to need an ice pack on this face when she went back to Chris house.

She avoided the man as she ran to the car where Chris was waiting.

"What took you so long?" Chris asked.

"I was talking to my sister... Let's just leave." She replied wincing as she put on her sandals.

Chris nodded and drove out of the hospital. He looked at Isabelle who was still staring out the window. She seemed too quiet for someone who just met her sister.

"So how is your sister? Can she talk? Move around as normal?"

"She's okay." She replied hissing.

Chris turned to her and then stopped. Isabelle still didn't turn to him.

"Isa? What's wrong?" He asked.

She shook her head nothing. He frowned and held her chin turning her face to him. He watched her for a while before he caressed her cheeks.

"Who did this to you?" He asked.

"No one. Let's just go please."

"It's not no one, who did this to you?"

"And I said it's nothing! All right?! Nothing!"

"Who fucking did this to you?!" He yelled making her flinch.

She sighed snatching her face from him and brushed her hair back. She glanced at him and then at the dashboard.

"It's this man I ran into at the hospital. I've told you, now can we at least go?" She asked.

Chris didn't say anything as his eyes darkened. He ignited the engine moving at a slow pace before he swerved and sped up back to the hospital.

"What are you doing?" Isabelle asked. Chris didn't reply her as he kept on the road ahead.

Isabelle noticed he might be going back to the hospital. She sighed, if he was looking for a beating... there was nothing she could do about it, right?

Soon, they reached the hospital. Chris parked the car, jumped out and slammed the door. Isabelle immediately ran after him.

"Which one is it? Him?" Chris asked as soon as she stepped inside.

"It's him." She replied pointing at the man who was sipping coffee reading a magazine about dental health oblivious of the two people who had just entered.

Chris walked up to the man. The man looked up at him and closed the magazine sipping his coffee again.

Chris snatched the coffee from him. The man glared at him and grunted.

"Why are holding my coffee then?" He asked.

"What, this one?" Chris asked and smirked. He tipped the coffee dumping it on the man as it slides from his hair to his cloth.

"Oops."

"You fucking..." The man didn't get to finish as Chris threw him a blow.

"Don't you ever lay your filthy hands on her ever again, you hear me?" He said pointing at Isabelle.

The man turned his eyes angrily at her and then stands up. He was big, no doubt about that. He towered over Chris as he drew his hands back to throw him a slap.

Chris ducked making the man miss.

"Uh oh. You missed." He replied playfully.

"Get over here!" The man yelled out as Isabelle stifled a laugh and then let's it out before she winced and shut up her mouth.

The man was now missing two front teeth, the impact of the blow from Chris earlier. Chris pulled Isabelle along as  they walked to the Parking Lot.

The man walked after them grabbing Chris shoulder. He sighed and smiled at Isabelle letting her hand go.

"You're going to regret this " Chris said glaring at the man.

"We'll see about that." the man replied with a smirk.

Chris shrugged and the man charged forward. He raised his hands to blow him yet again. Was blow the only way he knew to defeat his opponent? So pathetic.

Chris caught his hand half way and turned around befire flipping the man on his back. It was naturally untrue as the man was twice his size but since Chris aas the Alpha to his pack, he has to own up to that title now, doesn't he?

Chris sat on the man's stomach dealing punches after punches. He lost count at 23 and then when the man had lost consciousness, he breathed out and stood from his body.

He turned to Isabelle who was looking at the bloody faced man and then to him. Well, particularly his hand which had been stained with the man's blood.

"Come on." He said to Isabelle.

"Is he...? He's not right?" Isabelle asked.

"Of course not, I wish he was though. But he's just passed out. He'll be fine by tomorrow." He said to Isabelle.

And then to his wolf, 'he'll be out a day or two.'

"Let's go." Isabelle ran after him immediately with the fear of the man jumping up and coming after her.

The fight started with her after all. They rode in silence and got home soon.

"Thanks." Isabelle said suddenly after a few minutes of silence. She was in the sitting room while Chris was in the kitchen in front of an open fridge.

"Hmm? What for?" Chris asked grabbing the bucket of ice from the freezer before slamming it shut.

"For... You know, fighting back for me." She replied sheepishly.

"Meh. It's fine. I'll be right back." He replied jogging upstairs.

He came back with a first aid kit in hand and then looked up to see Isabelle placing the ice directly on her face ever so lightly.

"That's not going to help." He pointed out sitting beside her and dropped the first aid kit on the table in front of them.

"Why not?" She asked wincing. She tapped her cheek with her index finger before returning the ice to his face.

"I just know it." He shrugged in response and took the ice pack scooped some ice and poured it into the ice pack he had opened.

"Come here. you're taking mercy on yourself, it's not good." Chris said pulling her.

"How so?" She replied but still moved closer.

"Hmm, your face would still hurt by tomorrow and I would have to make fun of you. It's going to be so swollen." Chris replied placing the ice pack on her face.

"Hmph!" She cried out.

"Sorry. Sorry." Chris replied laughing lightly.

"You think this is funny?" Isabelle asked in a joking voice.

"What? No, of course not. It's not funny at all." Chris replied pursing his lips so he wouldn't laugh. He couldn't keep it as he cracked up.

"You... look... hilarious."

"You do think it's funny!" Isabelle said grabbing one of the black and white throw pillows. Her hands took black as she stood up.

Chris moved back running from her while she chased after him with a black throw pillow. Chris also took an opportunity and grabbed a white throw pillow smirking at her.

They hit each other with it with Chris avoiding to hit her face until they both got tired and slumped on the love seat chair.

Isabelle laughed and rest her head for a while thereby falling asleep.

Isabelle didn't know that when she closed her eyes was when Chris did as well. Both fell asleep without knowing who fell asleep first but in the morning, Dolores saw them in this position as she turned around. She smiled and turned again taking a shot of them. She smiled at the picture she took and turned going back home.

Chris being the vigilant one snapped his eyes open catching the back of his sister walking out. He looked at his side where Isabelle clung unto him like he was her pillow. Her head was on his shoulder while her arm was wrapped around his biceps.

He smiled and kissed her hair that smelled like Vanilla then rested his head on hers closing his eyes to sleep again. He made a mental note to collect the picture from Dolores since his own phone was on the table and he couldn't stretch to get it without waking Isabelle which he didn't want to do.

He loved the way she snuggled in his arms.

A/N

Who else loves the treatment Chris gave the grumpy man? I do! And oh! I guess why Matilda is so all up and doing. Sorry Isabelle, but really, don't you guys feel it's kinda weird? Cause I do!

Either ways, love y'all. Adios❤️
