Chapter 72: Chapter 72

CHAPTER SEVENTY TWO

LILITH

We all gasped back to reality and took indrawn gasps while the necromancer removed the needles from our foreheads. Roxanne and Zane stared at me like they were seeing a ghost and I motioned for the necromancer to stay with me and not leave yet.

“Mom– oh my God,” Roxanne whispered in disbelief as she placed a hand over her head.

Zane stared at me with pity. An expression I loathed with my being.

“I know it's hard to decipher,” the necromancer said. “It's also overwhelming. Your mother sacrificed Lilith’s life to save you because you were a powerful child, Roxanne. You were the prophecy blue moon had years ago and I knew I had to seal your powers. Your mother was in so much pain that day but she had to do what she needed to do.”

Roxanne shook her head as tears slipped down her face. “She had a choice.”

“But she still had to make a choice from both,” the necromancer said. “You were chosen, Roxanne. Sealing your powers away was what made you weak. You were never born a weak child, Roxanne. That was what affected your inability to have a wolf. And you had blue eyes like Lilith but since you were born from death, your eye colour changed.”

Roxanne rubbed her forehead. She looked dizzy, as though at any moment she would lose consciousness. She turned to me, “I'm sorry. I'm sorry you had to die because of me. I'm sorry you were neglected.”

“What's that going to do?” I snapped harshly and lunged for her.

Zane blocked my path. “Don't dare. Lay a hand on my sister and watch me do justice to all your fingers.”

I growled. I was his sister too. I hated Roxanne. She had everything I always wanted… the life and privilege.

“Calm down,” the necromancer warned as she grabbed my arms.

“I was the unimportant one,” I spat, pointing at myself. “I was left, abandoned and forced to leave because of you. Now you're apologising? Would that make up for twenty years?”

Zane sighed. “I'm still shocked you were born twins. Seeing you is like seeing Roxanne with blue eyes and mommy issues. But you can't blame either of us. We weren't informed. It's mom's mistake not ours.”

I glared at Roxanne, “Born of shadows, the child was torn. A breath denied, her soul reborn. Blessings of old, now turned to ash. A cursed resurrection, a haunting’s flash. Does it make sense to you, now?”

She retreated, fear evident in her eyes. “How did you know that poem?”

“Because it was always about you and I, Roxanne. Born of shadows talks about you. I was the child who was torn. A breath denied was me. A soul reborn was you. A cursed resurrection, a haunting’s flash, is you and I.”

She shook her head vigorously and muttered to herself. It seemed almost like she was losing it. “Now it makes sense. Now it makes sense. But how, how did you wake up?”

The necromancer circled us as she walked. Her ghostly eyes bored into zane's and Roxanne’s. “After your mother left, I was reluctant to bury the child.

When I was to bury her, she stirred. A child who had been lifeless for more than 12 hours, moved her body and she cried. I was scared and confused. I didn't know what to do but I knew I couldn't give her to your mother. Your mother was a white moon so definitely people will wonder how her second child ended up with a necromancer from blue Moon. I decided to keep Lilith a secret and I brought her up, only telling her this story when she was thirteen.”

“You have no idea how messed up it is to know you're rejected,” I said to Zane and Roxanne.

Roxanne stared at me grimly. “I've been there. I know what it's like.”

“Ohh but at least you had mom and dad, didn't you? You even had a brother who protected you.”

Roxanne glanced at Zane and he went stiff. I wondered what type of sibling relationship they had but I cared less.

“Lilith was also born powerful but I didn't sense hers, just yours. While trading her life for yours, Roxanne, a part of Lilith went to you and a part of you went to her, which is why Lilith survived. But rather than the three abilities you have, Lilith has one. The ability to fight. She can't heal nor can she see visions but she can manipulate them. I taught her how.”

Roxanne stared at me, teary eyed. “That was how you were able to come into my dreams.”

I smirked. “Yes and I told you the truth, that the world will be in ruins because of you. Didn't it come to pass? You killed most of the people of Blue Moon and White Moon. It was fun entering your dream, manipulating you into thinking you were in trouble all the time.”

“You fucker,” She growled and lunged for me, her claw scratching the sides of her face.

Zane caught her and shook her vigorously. “That's enough,” he said.

Roxanne pushed him away. “Get your hands off me. You don't tell me what to do.”

I motioned to the necromancer to leave. I needed to get this off my chest, to see Roxanne in pain. The pain I felt for years.

ROXANNE

“How did you find me?” I queried, curious to know.

Lilith grinned. “Well, it was easy. I used the people you know. I've always sneaked in to white Moon so I could see you, Roxanne. And I blended well because many people who saw me, thought I was you. I must say, you were really treated as shit. I wanted to talk to you and do what sister's do but I knew I had to stay away because Mom didn't want me.”

The sadness in her eyes caused me to ache. Lilith used to love me but the way she looked at me now was like a threat. Her feelings were valid. If it was me, I would feel cheated too. First of all my life had to go, then I wasn't even regarded to be told to my family about my existence.

“I sneaked in one time again and you weren't in White Moon. I was pained,” she whispered. “I thought I had lost you before I had the chance to cause you pain. Until one day, when someone dear from Blue Moon wrote to me that there's someone who looks exactly like me in Red Moon.”

My bottom lip quivered. “Who is that?”

“Kara.”

All I wanted to do was sleep and realise this was a dream and that none of it really happened.

Lilith sighed. “Kara was my mate—”

Zane's face fell.“You're gay?”

“Doesn't matter,” Lilith shunned. “This is a talk between sisters.”

“Go on,” I urged.

“Kara was my mate but she was cast out of Blue Moon so she sought refuge in Red Moon. The only way we communicated was through writing letters. One day she wrote to me saying the girl that looked just like me kept whispering my name and writing my name on the walls. I hated you the minute I knew you were still alive. Yes, I've always hated you but I hate you more now and I want your powers. Actually I wanted you dead. So I decided to carry out the plan in my head,” she whispered.

A chill ran down my spine as I listened to my sister speak. The way she said the hate and dead, made me feel sick.

She played with the hem of her dress. “I made Kara my Ally. I told her to be close to you, take care of you and get secrets from you.”

I was shocked but I understood why Kara was nice to me. Asides Lilith instructions she must have been nice to me because I looked exactly like her mate.

Lilith proceeded. “I told her I will give her a gamma position if she succeeds, when I become powerful and I will bring her back home so we could get mated. I wanted her to kill you, so she could have a respectable position. But she didn't and along came Beta Miles.”

I glanced at Ryker. He looked as though he had passed out but from the way his lips pursed and his jawline tightened, I knew he could hear everything. Anger boiled in my veins.

The door sprung open and Beta Miles walked in with Selina who looked terrified and irritated of him. He clapped his hands together, “what a big family reunion. There's a party outside. Let's get this over with.”

He walked past us and went straight to stand in front of Ryker but Selina was quick to stay beside her brother, looking ready to spring.

He caressed Ryker's face. “The world is such a selfish place, right? Someone else has what you don't. They have enough yet they're not satisfied. Then they take from you who has only got one.”

“Speak if you're going to and do that without being disrespectful to the Alpha,” Selina snapped, losing her cool.

Lilith squealed in delight as she watched the whole feud. She clapped her hands and her eyes gleamed. At that moment she reminded me of Selina. Do people get excited just by making others suffer? Yes. And such people were sick.
