Chapter 70: Chapter 70

CHAPTER SEVENTY

ROXANNE

Selina briefed me on the plan as we moved quickly towards the area where Ryker was.

She told me that she could trace the way they went since Beta Miles was her mate, but I couldn't scent Ryker since he had rejected me.

If my wolf had surfaced earlier, I would have been able to sense that he was in danger, but now I couldn't. My heart pounded loudly as I thought about the battle. I was unsure about myself. I had no idea if I could defeat Beta Miles.

We headed towards Blue Moon. Confusion sprawled on my face as I wondered what had brought the Beta and Alpha here. It must be his way of reuniting the three packs so they could turn against me. After all, I was a threat.

As we neared the location, the air grew tense. The sound of battle echoed through the trees.

“Stay close,” Selina whispered, her eyes scanning the area. “We need to find Ryker and get him out of here.”

I nodded, my senses heightened. The scent of blood and fear filled the air , and I could feel the energy of fightpulling me in. We moved swiftly, avoiding detection as best as we could.

Finally we reached a clearing, and there they were as if expecting my arrival– the people of Blue Moon. The Alpha, Colin Wyatt and his Luna, Adelaide, stood at the forest front.

“Red Moon,” Colin beamed, his eyes glinting with mischief. “What brings you here? We were not informed of your arrival.”

“We don't have time for talks,” I snapped, getting off the horse with Selina.

I walked forward, boldly taking the lead as they eyed me with visible hatred. “Who are you?” Colin demanded.

“Who I am doesn't matter,” I replied, locking eyes with them. “We are here for the Alpha of Red Moon.”

“We don't have him, young lady,” Adelaide whispered in a voice as soft as the breeze.

I clapped my hands together. “Trust me, you don't want to do this the hard way. We don't want to fight. We want to do things the right way, so just hand him over.”

Selina drew out her sword, her eyes gleaming with determination. “I like war, though. I'm a Red Moon, remember. And if we wage war, all your people will be wiped out.” She stepped forward. “You have my mate and my brother. Hand them over.”

“Or what?” Colin demanded, stepping closer. “You show up unannounced at my pack to seek what we don't have. Yet you speak in such a tone.”

I stepped forward, sealing the distance between us. My voice was cold and hard. “Or we will tear through your pack like a storm. Your defences will crumble, and your people will fall. This isn’t a threat, it’s a promise. We’re not here to play games. Return what is ours, and we’ll leave peacefully. Refuse, and we will show you no mercy.”

Colin’s eyes flickered with fear but he held his ground. “We don’t have your Alpha,” he repeated, but there was a tremor in his voice.

Without notice, someone grabbed me and pinned my arms behind my back. A cold blade pressed against my throat. It was Adelaide. Her eyes gleamed with malevolence as she whispered in my ear, "Cause any nuisance, and I'll slash your neck.”

Colin seized Selina, his grip cruel. "What do you think you are, just barging into my pack and causing trouble?" he spat.

Then they both smiled, sinister and triumphant. "We've waited so long for the prophecy," Colin said, his voice dripping with satisfaction. "Now that we have you, we're not letting go.”

Suddenly, everything went black. In the darkness, a vision of Ryker appeared. He was chained, his body tortured. A hot iron was pressed into his thigh, and I gasped.

When I opened my eyes, fury consumed me. I broke free and punched Adelaide across the face. She staggered back, crying out, "You bitch!”

Without thinking, she drove the sword into my stomach. Pain ripped through me, but something strange happened. Instead of me bleeding, Adelaide began to bleed from her stomach without being injured. She shakily let go of the sword, her hands clutching her abdomen in shock.

Selina was taken aback. She watched as I pulled the sword from my stomach, revealing no sign of blood.

I licked the sword and grinned at Adelaide. "One of the benefits of being the prophecy. You can't get rid of me.”

Colin staggered in fear. In a desperate move, he stabbed Selina in the stomach. Rage flickered in my eyes as I watched him carry his wife. At that moment, White Moon appeared, witnessing the entire saga. Alpha Zane stood in shock, his mouth agape. His sister was fierce and terrifying now.

Selina called out to me, "Let me help.”

I shook my head and placed a kiss on Selina's forehead. "You and the army will fight against White Moon, but you need to lay low.”

"We agreed to be in this together," she reminded me.

"I know, but you need to stay safe. I can't get hurt, but you can. You have to protect Ryker's only family," I said, a smile curving on her lips.

I placed my hand on Selina's wound and whispered, "Hold on for me a little bit.”

When I removed my hand, the bleeding had ceased, and the wound had closed, but Selina felt weak and sore because the sword had been soaked in wolfsbane.

I turned back to Colin. "You want to play the game of war? Then bring it on.”

Colin whistled to his army, and they began to attack. In a loud voice, I ordered my army, "Attack! Kill every person, every child, every slave. Leave no one alive.”

The clashes of swords against swords reverberated in the air. The scene turned into chaos as our armies collided.

I moved like a blur, slashing and stabbing, knocking down enemies with swift precision. Blood splattered across the battlefield, the metallic scent filling the air. The screams of the dying echoed around me, but I remained focused, driven by the need to save Ryker.

My wolf instincts guided me, each movement a blend of grace and power. I tore through the Blue Moon warriors, my claws ripping into flesh, my teeth bared in a snarl. The adrenaline coursing through my veins made me unstoppable.

Selina fought fiercely alongside the Red Moon warriors, her sword slicing through the air with deadly accuracy. Despite her wounds, she didn't back down.

In the midst of the battle, I caught a glimpse of Zane. His eyes met mine, and for a moment, the chaos faded. There was no hatred in his gaze, only a profound sadness. But the moment passed, and we were back in the fray.

Bodies fell around me, the ground slick with blood. I could feel the exhaustion creeping in, but I pushed it aside. I had to keep going. For Ryker. For Me. For all those who had suffered because of this war.

Finally, I reached Colin. His face twisted in rage as he lunged at me. Our swords clashed, the sound ringing out like a death knell. I could see the desperation in his eyes, the realisation that he was losing.

With a final, powerful strike, I disarmed him. He fell to his knees, breathing heavily. "It's over," I said, my voice cold. "You've lost.”

He looked up at me, a mixture of fear and defiance in his eyes. "This isn't the end," he spat. "There will always be another war.”

The battlefield fell silent, the victory was ours. But it was a hollow victory, the cost was too high. I stood among the fallen, my eyes piercing into the eyes of the Alpha I had brought down.

"Not if I can help it," I replied. I raised my sword, about to give him the final blow, that would end his life when a voice stopped me.

Beta Miles.

Beta Miles appeared, his face falling when he saw me. He was about to turn and run but managed to maintain his composure.

"I'm seeing things," he muttered to himself. "I killed you," he said louder, staring at me with disbelief. "How did you wake up?”

I grinned. "Don't joke with the prophecy," I replied. "Evil rises from the dead.”

His eyes gleamed with sinister satisfaction as he approached me, stepping over dead bodies until he stood before me. "So that's what being the prophecy feels like. Eternal life?”

"You," I growled, keeping my hand down but remaining on guard in case Alpha Colin attempted anything. I pointed my knife at Beta Miles.

He smirked. "It's me you want, then leave the Alpha alone.”

Selina stepped between us, her wolf practically trembling with rage. "Where's my brother? I swear I will rip out your brains and weave them into a basket if you've hurt even a hair on his head," she warned her mate, her voice deadly serious. She stared at him with pure hatred.

Beta Miles sniggered at her. "So you now take sides with an outcast just because she's the prophecy?”

In a swift motion, I knocked him down and pressed the blade of my sword against his hand. "One stab in the brachial artery and not even the Moon Goddess will be able to save you," I said coldly.

Fear flickered in his eyes, and he shuddered. Nervously, he said, "You have issues with me. It's good you both are around. Zane, you better join the party. This is going to be the best family reunion ever.”

Confusion spread across my face and Zane's. I moved away slightly as my brother neared me.

Beta Miles grinned. "I had to lure Ryker here so you would come, Roxanne. I actually expected just Selina, but it's more fun with you. Once your name is mentioned, the Alpha is easy to fool. If you hadn't arrived on time, he would have been dead.”

"Just take me to him, or I stab," I threatened, my voice steady.

"Easy, tiger," Beta Miles said, leading the way with Colin. I followed closely, pointing the sword at Miles' back, ready to strike at any wrong move.

I snarled at him, and he smirked. "I'll take that as a yes.”

He forced the door open, and we all walked in. Zane and I stopped in our tracks, sweat beading on our foreheads, shock etched on our faces.

"Hey, sister, nice to meet you.”
