Chapter 48: Chapter 48
"Do you like it?" Jeff asked me as we watched the sunset from the lake. "We must go on more vacations in the future."
I smiled and shrugged. "Will you waste a lot of money on a fake marriage with me?" I asked him, chuckling weakly. " I don't want to make you poor." I kidded and he laughed.
"Make me poor?" he asked in disbelief. He held my hand and pulled me closer to him. "Do you think several simple vacations would make me broke?" His eyes were on me, reflecting the light from the setting sun.
I shrugged. "Did you think I would be worth all the money you're spending?"
"Why won't you be?" he asked me back. "You're my wife."
"But not your real mate," I countered. "I am only here for you for six months. You should go on and hurry up in finding your rightful mate before our contract expires." I wanted to be very honest with him because sometimes, I feel like he's doing too much for me. Even though my heart is beginning to long for him. Morgan, Adrian I have met but one of them had made me feel secure the way Jeff has showered so much love on me. I will hope everything turns out well for me. I really want to spend the rest of my life with Jeff but I can't force it, not when he is the one making the rules.
He narrowed his eyes at me, seemingly confused. His stare lingered on me even when he rested his hand on the small of my back, pulling me close to his chest.
"Right?" his voice sounded dangerous. "I need to find my mate."
He whispered before kissing my earlobe. "What if I don't find my mate in six months?"
My eyes widened and my lips parted. "That can't be. You were so confident in finding your mate," I retorted even though I was already trembling.
He chuckled and leaned closer until his lips were touching my ear. "Would you be able to live without me when everything is over?" He traced my shoulder with his index finger sending tingles all over my system.
"Why are you suddenly asking me that?" My voice was already strained.
He shrugged and brushed his lips over my shoulder. "I just don't want you to think that I can replace you that easily.
I narrowed my eyes at him. "I know that I am not irreplaceable.
His hold on me tightened upon hearing what I said. His brows furrowed and his jaw clenched. He's acting like I just said something that angered him.
"You think you're replaceable?" he asked in a treacherous tone.
"Then does that mean you think of me as someone who you can replace too?"
I gulped hard, already nervous about where we were going with this conversation. And I was right, because before I could even rebut, his lips were on mine, claiming me like I'm legally his to claim.
And truth be told, I didn't care about anything anymore.
"Where are you going?" I asked Jeff. I am still in bed and it looks like it's still dawn but he's already wearing his office clothes.
He turned to me while buttoning his white long-sleeved shirt. He smiled and approached me, sitting on the edge of my side of the bed. "I'm sorry. Something urgent came up. Nolan and I have to drive to Tucson to attend a breakfast meeting.
I smiled and nodded. "Will you be out all day?" I asked. He shrugged. "I will try to be back as soon as I can," he replied before leaning in to kiss me on the lips. "I asked Dion to accompany you today. She'll be here by the time you eat your breakfast."
I nodded. "Are you driving?" I asked. He shook his head. "We'll have Ryan to drive us to Tucson. It's only an hour and a half. Don't worry too much, okay?"
I nodded, "Can I text you?" I asked him. I don't know why I'm suddenly clingy but I was so used to having him around. He never went far away when we got married. This is the first time in almost a month.
He chuckled and nodded. "I'll call you when we get there," he replied as he brushed his thumb against my cheek. "And you're allowed to text and call me whenever you like." Whenever do I like it? What if he's in the middle of a meeting? It won't be good for him.
"I'll text you at lunch," I replied. "Don't worry about me. I'll surely have fun with Dior, He smiled. "I'll leave my card so you can use it if you thought of going to the mall to shop," he told me.
I nodded. I'm not going to shop anyway. I don't want to go and spend his money on things that are not even important. I have lots of clothes here. Maybe I can join the women who are cleaning the garden since I really enjoy that.
But then, I need to ask Dior what she wants to do and decide after that.
Jeff finally bade goodbye. Ryan was already from the other side of the door and he would not stop until Jeff gets out.
I shook my head and got out of bed. I took a bath and prepared for the day. I wore a simple navy-blue chiffon halter dress and a pair of flats. I will only be in the packhouse today so I didn't need to wear something extravagant.
I went down and planned to help the girls in preparing breakfast but the table was already set when I got there. I looked around and saw Marinel removing her apron.
"Hey," I called her and she reluctantly turned to me. I wanted to frown but I already know what was happening. It's the rumors about me that make them keep their distance. " Where's everyone? Let's all eat together," I bravely told her.
Her lips parted in shock before shaking her head. "No need, Luna. We have already eaten and will proceed to clean the garden and the poolside today." Displeasure was heard in her voice. I cannot unhear how unwelcome I am in their group.
But then, how will I be welcome when they don't know the real me yet?
I smiled widely. "Can I help? I love gardening!" I beamed even though I am already hopeless deep inside.
Marinel bit her lip and trembled. "B-but...you're the Luna," she said. "If Alpha knew about this, he would-"
I shook my head and smiled to assure her that everything is fine. "He won't get mad. He knows how I love doing household chores." I will ask Jeff later if he told everyone to treat me like a queen, if that's the case, then, it's not about the rumors that Dionessa told me.
Marinel still looked reluctant but she nodded. "O-okay," she stuttered. "W-we'll be in the garden. You can eat your breakfast first." She smiled weakly before leaving me alone in the dining room.
I watched her walk out of the backdoor and sighed. I looked at the table and saw it set perfectly. Why do they give me a lot of food? They know that I am the only one here.
This shouldn't be new for me because I am used to eating alone but because I have been with Jeff every day, I feel lonely now that I have to eat alone.
I grabbed my phone to text Dior when Pires suddenly came down. He's eating an apple while topless and I suddenly had the urge to look away.
I swallowed hard as I turned my back on him.
"Morning," he uttered in a low voice.
My eyes widened and bit my lip hard. Did he just...? He walked to the dirty kitchen before I heard the backdoor closing.
I let out a heavy sigh before finally typing a text to Dior.
Me: Where are you?
I pulled a chair and sat while waiting for Dior reply. I just wish she still hadn't eaten yet so she can eat with me.
The food seemed great as always. I must say that they prepare the best dishes. I just wish they join me in eating.
My phone chimed and I excitedly opened it.
Dior: On my way. Let's eat together. I smiled widely and patiently waited for her. Finally, I won't be eating alone.
It took fifteen minutes before Dior arrived. We started eating and talked about what I wanted to do the whole day.
She frowned at me but then she said she would help me get around the girls and that made me happy. If I'm going to stay here for six months, I need to go on and be good friends with them.
Dior and I washed the dishes before we geared up to join the other members of the pack in the garden.
It was larger than the garden in Jeff's mansion but it looks like it was not as well-maintained as it was.
"We only garden once a month," she whispered as she
leaned into my ear.
I smiled and nodded. It's obvious This wouldn't have been the case if they did garden every week, at least. "It's okay," I replied.
"We just need to make sure that the flowers won't wilt.
Mauriel saw me and began directing me what I should do. I noticed that she was only trying to make me do simple jobs like trimming and sweeping.
I frowned at her. "I can also carry the pots," I told her and her eyes widened. "Don't worry, I have rearranged Jeff's garden before. This is nothing and I have a lot of you to call for help.
She stared at me for a moment before sighing hard and nodding. "Yeah, but with assistance," she said, obviously sounding like she was being forced to do so.
I chuckled and nodded. "Thank you, Marinel!" I beamed at her and started working with all of them.
It was good to know most of them. Not all of them are talking to me but I appreciate everyone who tried to reply to me when I was talking to them. I just don't understand why a Luna would be feared like this. I am not going to make them kneel in front of me and I don't want them to think that I am that kind of person.
I am a stranger to the whole pack and I know that it would be hard for them to adjust but I am here, all prepared to be friends with all of them.
Dior was wiping her sweat while complaining while Pires was smirking at her. She glared at him and I couldn't help but smile at their interaction. They look adorable while they seem like they are teasing each other but everything ended when Wynona came and took Pyro away.
I shook my head as I saw Dior glaring at Wynona's back. I can only imagine how pissed she is because it's so obvious that she likes the guy.
Wynona glared at me when they walk past me and I just shrugged. Why would she do that to me? I haven't even talked to her or any of her friends.
"Are you tired?" Dior asked me.
I shook my head. "I'm thirsty, though," I admitted. She chuckled.
"Great. I'll get us drinks," she said. "Sit here first."
I nodded and did what I was told. I watched the girls trying to rearrange the pots into a better formation. I smiled as I watched them have fun while doing it. They are all laughing while trying to work and for some reason, I envy that.
The members of the pack are all close. I don't see any discrimination between the higher ranks and the lower ones.
Everyone was working and having fun.
I would have loved being with the members of my former pack if this has been the situation back then. I wouldn't have grown up alone and lonely.
I sighed and waited for Dior when I suddenly heard a rustling sound. The garden was connected to a forest which I think is still under Fire Blood's territory.
I narrowed my eyes and waited to hear it again. When it came on again, I swallowed hard before standing up to follow it. I know this is stupid but the curiosity in me is eating me and I have to go and see it. Otherwise, I can shout and the members of the pack can hear me, right?
I just wanted to satisfy my curiosity.
I slowly walked in the direction where the rustle was coming from without anyone knowing. I furrowed my brows and alerted my whole being as I braved the path of the forest.
I walked on and followed the sound until I heard a low growl coming from behind me. I clenched my fists as my whole system trembled with fear. Why was I here again? I pursed my lips and swallowed hard as I slowly turned to whatever is on my back but the next thing I know, all I could see is black.
"Shhh!" The voice I heard behind me without seeing a face. I don't what or who is doing this to me. This can't be Jeff's business he is on a business trip. I can only have run into a rogue due to my curiosity. How do I undo this stupidity of mine? And no one from Jeff's pack knows I am in the firearm at the moment. I will have to fight for my life now. I turned to try to catch a glimpse of this intruder in the dark.
"Who are you? And what do you want from me?" I uttered in fear.
The body in dark came closer to me, almost resting its nostril on the nape of my neck like it was going to kiss me. I sniffed the scent, "Ooh my gosh! This cannot be." It was a familiar scent. My whole body began to tremble. I knew had gotten myself into a big mess if Jeff gets to find out that I am here.
"He won't get to find soon because you are mine and I promised I was coming to get you when it was time." He said.
"Who are you?" I asked just to confirm even though I knew already.
"It is Adrain, you love and fated mate. I couldn't forget how sweet you are. I heard being following our scent all through the city, searching for you all through day city since the day you left home. I am glad you have found your Andrea. Can we go back home to my pack now?"
"Adrian! No.No. I have moved on with my life." I said hoping he understand. I part of recalled how we clicked on the first day we met and the hot sex and romance. Everything began to replay in my head. How much I wanted a man who touched me like Adrian but Jeff has been so nice that I wish to spend my whole life with him due our marriage is a fake one. But I strongly believe Jeff will change his mind about me and I make me his Luna forever.
I part of my wants to be with Jeff but Adrian's scent which clouds my nostrils kept reminding me of all I had missed this whole year. He got closers to me and ke5 his hard bulge rested on my thigh. I squirmed before I knew my pants were becoming wet.
"I know how much you miss me." His tiny soft voice caused more trouble them good to my already devastated body.
"I don't...miss.." I paused, knowing I miss him a lot but I have to go back to Jeff's pack now.
Like he knew what I was thinking, Adrian, lifted me above the ground, shifting into his wolf. He ran off with my whole body on his shoulder into the highway. I felt I was going to devour.
