Chapter 426: Chapter 426

"... besides, how can two children make a deal? You are no more than ten earth years, and you’d like to make that kind of bargain?" The witch teased slightly,

"You are no kid! The fact that you are in the body of a child does not mean that you are one! Besides, he already told me about that tattoo that is on the back of your hands. So, I know what you are...."

"Oh.... I like you more and more, Ingrid. You will turn out even better than I expected!" The Witch did not bother to ask, whom Ingrid was referring to...

"Not for you, though..."

"Anyway, what would you like? I don’t make deals with kids, but I like you more and more and will bend this little rule for you...."

"I hope you don’t have any tricks up your sleeve!" Ingrid narrowed her eyes,

"Hehehehehheheeeeee...."

The Timeless Witch smiled, especially noting that Ingrid was still cautious around her. She stepped closer and whispered something into Ingrid’s ears. The little girl’s eyes widened like saucers, and Ingrid gasped.

Ingrid was still in a daze and was not even sure what they had discussed after that. Was she being impulsive? She thought to herself.

A smile played on the Timeless Witch’s lips, ’Aliya still has no idea how powerful this child is? She will live to regret it, but it’ll be too late by then....’

"Goodbye, Angel Gabriel! It was nice meeting you!"

Gabriel lowered his head and did not reply. He was still holding back from his guilt, even though he liked his new friend very much.

The Timeless Witch walked out of there without looking back,

"With this, all is set, and no favours are owed anymore!" She said to herself as she finally blended into the woods behind the Thornston Estate.

Ingrid turned and walked slowly back to where Gabriel was waiting,

"I’m Sowwwyyyyy.... Really! I won’t do that again! I promise!"

However, Ingrid was not listening. She was still stuned and reeling from what she had heard. She contemplated telling Currey but then decided against it.

Thornston Estate, North Wing....

"Is Ingrid also like that?"

The two questions sprung up simultaneously, and Currey turned solemn. He had already expected that question from the onset when the conversation started. This was because he had asked himself this several times, and he was not even sure if this group had probed here already. In short, everything was a mess in his eyes.

They all released a unanimous sigh, just as Currey added,

"But that does not remove the possibility that it may happen,"

Geneva’s heart almost stopped,

"That sweet and shy girl can turn into that disgusting thing you just showed?"

"Unfortunately, yes. It is definitely a trait that is somewhere in her, but not all of these creatures turn into this. For one, she is lucky not to be raised by that mother! If she gets the best of directions, she will be okay...."

"Oh, thank the heavens!"

Almost all of them sighed in relief because the idea of the Ingrid they knew turning to that was too much for any of them even to imagine.

Then Currey dropped another thing on them,

Alex, especially, could not believe that he was listening to such bullshit like Faes, Witches and now, Sirens... and ones who could do something even stranger.

He had not even read such fairy tales, not to even think of the possibility that such could exist..... Seeing was believing, but it was still hard. He had seen Roman once and Alex agreed wholeheartedly that the man was strange in a way that could not be explained. Currey’s voice drew Alex back to the conversation,

"Some things will have to change the estate and remain so till His Highness is able to get out of this...."

To spare them any worry, Currey did not speak of his worries about Ian and Shelby at all.

Geneva’s breath hitched at that moment as a sudden thought crashed into her....

A sharp pang of guilt flashed through her, tightening its grip around her chest.

Had she really been so preoccupied with her own issues that she had momentarily forgotten him? He had been on the verge of death when the hospital had called them and that was before that devil, Aliya, had made her appearance!

Her hands clenched, her heart sinking under the weight of realization.

’Oh my heavens... I’m a bad mother! The silent confession burned, but before she could spiral further, she caught sight of her first grandchild, Samantha.

The confident and defiant child hesitated, shifting awkwardly, her lips parting slightly as if she had something to say .... but then stopping short.

Geneva straightened in the seat; her guilt momentarily pushed aside. A new worry crept in.

What was Samantha holding back? But then, Geneva rather voiced her concerns for Ian,

"Oh my, What about Ian! Is he okay? Did she do something to him? Is that why he suddenly took a turn for the worst?"

"I know what happened to Dad,"

Obviously, all eyes turned to her when she had said that.

"I saw something at the hospital when I sneaked out to find Dad,"

Samantha went ahead to narrate everything she had seen Aliya do to Ian,

"So, if you saw her, why were you acting all cozy with her? I thought that you hated her guts?"

"I do!" Samantha spat out angrily,

"But Murray taught me to hide my gifts, and if I did not do that, I am not sure of what that woman would have done to me!"

"What do you mean by that?"

"She saw me see her do that to Dad.... So...."

After Samantha completed her narrative, the whole room, fell silent. Even though Currey knew that his brother was doing some training with the kids and the few people who had found out about their existence, he never knew that his brother had gone to the lengths to help Samantha with this as well.

Alex, Geneva and Brad were a little confused, though, till Currey volunteered the information,

"Samantha is a special girl as well...."

"Yes, as I said previously, all three kids are special," Currey continued,

"Gabriel is like me, and even though Samantha seems to be all human, she cannot be coerced to do anything from what we have seen, neither can her memory be wiped,"

"You can wipe memories, too? Oh, my World! What planet have we been moved to?"

Currey ignored that as a rhetorical question and didn’t even mind who asked the question because it randomly variated between Alex, Geneva and Brad. Suzie was quiet and just stood on the side,

"Wait.... Is that how Katie...."

"Yes," but Currey did not volunteer any more information on that.

"I think Samantha made Aliya feel like the coercion worked,"

Then Currey turned to Samantha,

"Good job doing that.... From now on, you will go ahead with anything Aliya asks you, no matter how outrageous it seems."

"We need to make Aliya feel like she has the upper hand in everything...." Then, as if remembering something, Currey turned to Geneva,

"His Highness is stable. I would know if something drastic happened to him, so please do not fret so much...."

"Are you su-" Geneva stopped herself and just nodded,

"You were saying?" Brad prompted, a bit impatiently,

"Keep doing whatever you are doing...."

Currey said, and then handed a small vial to all of them, Everyone got the same-looking bottle and they examined it suspiciously.

"All of you are not immune to the coercion like Samantha is... so every single morning without fail, put a drop of this liquid in your mouth...."

Unfortunately, it may not necessarily restore everything, but it will help you know that something is amiss and find ways to log everything you do in the day so that you may be able to use that in case it happens.

They nodded but no one even bothered to ask the exact ingredients of what was in there.

"For the males, including Chairman Alex, stay away from her!"

Currey narrowed his eyes at Brad, and he swallowed his sentiments,

"Move all male workers to the field to work and let the females work in-house. Keep Gabriel in his room and try to entertain him as much as possible...."

Then Currey turned to Geneva,

"Madam Geneva, I know you may not , but you have to go along with the charade that you are still mute, and I would prefer if you stay in the North wing... let’s go with the story that you are ill. She will believe that and think that it’s what she had done..."

"What about Ian and Ava? I have to-"

"You do not have to do anything, and you will be of no use to them there....." Currey sounded harsh, but he had to drill his point home,

"Suzie will make sure that you are cared for and I will update you on anything that relates to His Highness. As for Ava, she is in good hands, and if you do not make contact, she will be off this devil’s radar...."

Alex placed his hand on Geneva’s arm to stop her. From the next series of instructions that Currey gave them, he understood the gravity of the situation.

".... Finally, no matter what happens in the media, do not comment! Or take any action!"

"What of you....? ... and Brad?"

"I’ll have to go to the Winery to take care of things, so I can’t avoid her...."

"Master Brad will have to take the risk... I’ll add a few protections to his room, and I’ll take care of things on the outside...."

Currey paused, taking in a deep breath,

"I will find Miss Shelby, and we will defeat this Shadow weaver person!"

"What are the odds that three special children will find their way to Aliya like that?" Brad, who had gone quiet, suddenly asked.

Thank you so much to all for your votes and comments! I hope we can keep it up ^_^
