Chapter 218: Chapter 218

Even though Ian had not mentioned the name, the two brothers knew whom Ian had referred to.

"We don’t have much data on Tyler...."

Tyler was Aliya’s fiancé and Ingrid’s father. As if on cue, all four of them turned to look at the frozen frame of Ingrid. She looked splendid with her transformation as well as deadly at the same time. It reminded the Fae’s of the lonely mer-person at sea who could lure men to their death, except this was a child.

However, the fact that she had been able to kill a witch’s helper at that age and with that much strength showed that Ingrid came from a strong bloodline. For a halfling to be that strong was unusual.

"What is she, though?" Shelby asked.

"I think she may be a siren.... Or not... I’m not too sure."

"You’re kidding, right?" Shelby asked in amusement.

"Are you guys going to bring all my fairy tales to life? A siren? Why not a mermaid, then? Didn’t she have those pretty scales?"

"Actually, I am not that surprised. I am just piecing two and two together. Her voice. She sings beautifully, but I have a hunch that she has not fully grown into her natural being yet, or else we will have many issues.

Also, she killed without batting an eye to protect you.... Sirens are deadly. I can only think of those.... But I could be wrong. She could be a mer-person who just had a rush of adrenalin to protect you."

Currey and Murray nodded as if they agreed with him. They were also thinking along those same lines.

"Find out all you can get on him. We need to know what he was! We can only protect the girl if we know what she is inherently."

It was quite obvious what Ingrid was. She belonged to the water, but her depictions and characteristics showed that she was a halfling. In the water, she only showed certain traits, and not all of them, which only depicted that one of her parents was human and the other wasn’t.

They all knew Aliya, and that only left Tyler, her fiancé! They had never seen Tyler much and had not interacted much with him. What was puzzling for Ian was the sneak peek of Avril’s thoughts earlier that day. As it surfaced in his mind, he turned grimmer.

Ian did not and could not let his mind wander because if all was as his thoughts were, then trouble was brewing.... Big troubles!

The two bowed and disappeared with a poof, but then, they reappeared right back.

"What is it?" Ian asked, getting annoyed. He wanted time alone with his wife!

Currey smiled sheepishly,

"Currey forgot to give the drawing back."

"The one that Miss had done at the orphanage."

Ian nearly rolled his eyes. ’You interrupted my time with my wife just for this?’ Shelby glared at him and wiggled her way out of his embrace and his lap.

Ian dropped his arms, feeling the cold air rush over him as Shelby headed for Murray’s outstretched arms. She took the sketch from him, unrolled the piece carefully.

The drawing was an unfinished sketch, and she was not overly enthusiastic about it, but the fact that Murray had made time and brought it to her touched her deeply. She was not even sure when Murray had gone for it.

"Thank you, Murray," she opened it, glanced at it casually, and was about to close it when Currey let out an exaggerated gasp.

"What is it?" Ian snapped.

Ian wanted the two gone like an hour prior, but since they had managed to hook his wife’s interest, he had to bear with them.

"Miss, may I take a look at it?"

Shelby also gave him a complex look but handed it to him just as Ian got up, curious about what it was that had caught their attention.

Currey walked up and spread the paper on the wall, holding it in place with some wall clips.

"Miss Shelby, your attention to detail is so good. Look at that small figure in the middle of the drawing."

"Small figure? I didn’t draw any people in there. It’s just a sketch of the sea and the horizon. I just did that swirl in there, but it’s an unfinished drawin-"

She stopped talking at Currey’s baffled look. Ian’s gaze was glued to her face. He marvelled at how she brightened up whenever she talked about her paintings. Her eyes would light up and shine like stars. Ian made a mental note of that.

"What is it, Currey?"

"Did someone add some detail in there? I see this person in the middle of the swirl, but he looks a little familiar for some reason. It’s so funny! Hahahahhaahahahahaaaaaa....."

Currey let out a carefree laughter, but he saw that his brother had also made his way to the front of the drawing and was looking at it intently. Murray was the one who always took things calmly and analyzed them.

Ian just looked at the two of them, wondering when they would leave. Ian loved his wife’s paintings, but he loved his wife’s company more, and he wished the two brothers would disappear so that he could spend some quality time with his wife.

Currey walked up to it and then stretched his hand towards the drawing, exactly where the swirl was, but his brother immediately slapped his hand away.

"What is it?!" Currey snapped. In fact, Murray’s action surprised them, and they looked at him puzzlingly.

Murray’s face was grim, "Don’t touch it."

"Couldn’t you have just told me that instead? Why hit me?"

Murray ignored his brother and turned to his bosses, "Pardon my rudeness, Your Highness, but I think- ... I mean, it’s best if I show this to you for you to understand."

He bowed deeply and then brought out the other drawing. This was the one that Shelby had drawn at the park.

Shelby took a single step back from the painting. This was more detailed and completed. The contrasting colours made it look like they are looking at a picture of the forest instead of a hand-drawn picture.

Despite its details, she did not like it much because it reminded her of that time in the park. That was a memory that she’d rather not re-live.

Murray propped up the second painting, and then he told his brother,

"You can touch this one." There was a faint smirk on Murray’s face, but Currey missed it.

"What do you mean? Isn’t it just a picture, I can just to-"

"Ah! Where did he go?" Shelby asked in surprise and looked around.

"Why would he use his teleportation ability when he was talking to you," Ian asked.

"He did not," Murray stated calmly.

Ian seemed to have spotted what Murray was driving at and then walked closer to the second picture, examining it.

"There...." Ian whispered.

In the second picture of the park scene, they could see copper hair in one corner. It was very faint but still there.

Ian’s surprise was unfathomable. He looked at the painting and then at his wife.

Shelby was still unsure of what was going on, as they seemed to be talking in cryptic language.

"What the hell?!" Currey screamed as he hit the cold bare floor. It was earthy, dump and had a few roots poking up from the ground. One minute, he was in the cold room, and the next moment, he was in the park... at the same spot where they had picked up Shelby’s canvas.

"Did my power get unpredictable? How did I get here when I did not want to come?"

He asked himself, still not understanding what was going on.

"Whatever, let’s go back." Currey closed his eyes and willed himself back to the Thornston estate, but nothing happened.

"What the hell?" Currey frowned, wondering what the hell was going on. He tried several times, but nothing worked, and that was when panic set in. He had never had a situation in his life when he could not use his power. He frowned and then decided to resort to old school, as he called it. He brought out his phone and tried to call his brother.

"I’ll kill him when I get back!" Currey fumed. However, there was no reception on the phone.

"What the double hell? When has there ever been an area on T-Vino Island with phone reception?"

Currey held his phone up and walked around, trying to find the signal to make the call. After what seemed like a few hours, he decided to walk out and grab a taxi back.

"I wonder why I can’t use my power or the phone and how I got here to start with."

He walked out of the park. Currey walked for what seemed like a long time but then came right back to the same spot.

Just then, it clicked, and that was when he heard the voices echoing all around him. Currey could clearly hear his bosses and brother’s voices. It echoed all around him, but he knew in his guts that they were not there!

’How am I able to hear them? Where in the world is this?!’

"Hey! Murray!" Currey screamed out, but it did not look like they heard him.
