Chapter 141: Chapter 141

Abi was fuming! She had never been that embarrassed and belittled in her whole life! Her main frustration was from the fact that the culprit was Geneva Thornston! If it had been any other person, Abi would have dealt with them right then and there.

Frustratingly, her hands were tied when it came to her opponent, but that did not mean that they were completely cut off! She had her ways, and she would use them to deal with Geneva in a way that she would never see coming!

Her shoes made crisp sounds on the marble floor as she made her way through the restaurant, drawing undesired attention from all.

"Madam Mush, are you done already? We were just about to serve t-"

The restaurant manager froze. His heart nearly dropped out of his chest. Abi’s glare was as deadly as the word ’death’ itself.

The man stepped back and out of her way as Abi did not even falter in her steps as she whipped past him, nearly knocking him.

The man wiped invisible sweat off his forehead. He did not even want to think of what might have gone on in the room. He stabilized himself and bowed at the retreating back of the angry-looking woman.

As soon as Abi stepped out, her driver pulled up, and she got in, whipping out her phone to make a call. She waited patiently for the call to be connected as she tried to sort out her thoughts.

She did not understand this woman’s thought process.

’Brianna is the best of the best, and she knew that men flocked to her side all the time. It was just her bull-headed daughter who was stuck up on that man, Ian. What was so good about him anyway?’

Subconsciously, Abi knew that she was only compensating. She was trying to make herself feel better because Ian Thornston was the best of the best and none could replace him. Not even his brother who was from the same family conditions.

Abi rehearsed whatever she was going to say on the phone because this had been a trump card that she had unexpectedly stumbled upon. She never thought that she would be forced to use it on a day like that. However, that was her last straw, and she had to cling to it by hook or crook.

A few minutes later, as her car ate up the distance and brought her, home, the anger had somewhat subsided.

’It worked! I just have to wait for the results!’ She thought to herself as a slow wicked smile spread on her face. The driver held his neck straight forward, knowing perfectly well after his years of service with his mistress that she was more than met the eye.

In the private room back at the restaurant, Geneva had lost her appetite after Abi stepped out.

Even though Abi’s request had not been that unusual, Geneva was still upset at her audacity. It had not been long since Abram Mush had tried to approach Alex for the same issue at work. Then, Geneva had found it interesting that such a ridiculous thing would be brought up. However, after seeing their intent and the fact that they had come in well-prepared, Geneva felt sick to her stomach.

Katie had entered the private room right after Abi left and stood silently. She knew Geneva enough to understand her mood, so Katie did not interrupt the older woman’s thoughts.

"Mrs Thornston, we are ready to serve the meal,"

Geneva waved them away with her hands. That was when Katie sprung into action. She stepped out to see about five waiters with platters of dishes all waiting to come into the room.

"I’m sorry, Mr Manager. We will be leaving, and also handle the bill like usual."

The manager bowed. The servers also did not bat an eye, and they all filed back the way they had come in. There was never any loss in serving clients of that calibre!

Soon, Geneva also walked out gracefully, unlike Abi, who had been wearing her emotions on her sleeve.

A few awed whispers followed her wake as she exited, followed closely by Katie.

"Will you bring it up with the master?"

"Do you think I should?"

"It’s a delicate position, but I think it may be best if we let them know what they may be up against."

"Up against? Huh?" Geneva scoffed at Katie.

"Do you think that whatever Abi Mush thinks she can do can affect my Ian?"

"Eh..." Katie did not respond, as both women knew the answer to that.

"What I have trouble understanding is the fact that the girl being proposed is a bosom friend of Shelby. I- It’s just absurd! How could she -"

Geneva ranted throughout the ride back to the Thornston Estate.

"Do you think that this dress is the best?"

Brianna stood in front of her full-length mirror in her matching panties and bra. She held a dress by her body and was trying to picture herself in it.

Three maids were slightly to the side, with three sets of different clothes in their hands.

"No, I don’t think so!" Brianna said, discarding the dress as well. A heap of such discarded clothes lay strewn on her bed and on the floor.

She stretched out her hand, and another one was placed.

"This is more stretchy and has a fur-like feel. It’ll show him my irresistible body.... but on second thought, I don’t think it will be suitable for my Ian."

The maids changed position, and another came forward.

"I’m tired! Where is my drink!"

"Miss, it’s here!" A new person responded, almost out of breath, as she handed Brianna a glass of sparkling lemonade.

Brianna only took a sip and spat out the contents on the floor and the clothes there.

Brianna emptied the contents of the glass directly into the maid’s face.

"I’m s-orry, M-iss! I di-d not know better! I will get you another glass right away!" The girl was so panicked as if she had committed an abominable crime and in a sense, she had because Brianna could be unpredictable.

"Why do you want to make things difficult? Today is a bright day, and I am finally getting my Ian. Nothing should mess up the day! Everything must be perfect! I told you that my lemonade should be only served in a glass that has been kept in the fridge! Why! Just why do you always make me out to be the bad person?"

Brianna held out her hand, and a clean white handkerchief was placed there. The maid wiped her face with her sleeve and hurried out of the room to prepare the drink again. All of them were used to such gimmicks, so they were not surprised.

She wiped her hands and then stepped all over the clothes to the other side of her room. Her bum jiggled as she walked and her made and extra effort to wind around her waist.

Just then, she stopped.

"You! Do you think that he will like me this way?"

The other maids paused in what they were doing and took in Brianna’s body. There was no doubt that she was the candidate of most men’s dreams however...

She was plump and had all the curves in all the right places.

"Of course, Miss, He would be a fool not to like you!"

"Yes, yes, Miss! You can even be a model if you want!"

They continued to flutter her until she smiled widely.

"You are all right! I have even been saving myself just for him! Today, my dream will come true!"

"Brianna! Where are you?"

Abi steeled herself for the upcoming tantrum and then entered her daughter’s room.

"How many times have I told you not to walk around in front of them ?"

"Like what? Chill, mum!"

Abi shook her head. "Get her an overcoat!"

Then she took a good look at the room, "Why is the place like that? Do you need me to remind you to do your job?" Abi snapped.

"We’re sorry!" The girls scrambled around, picking up a heap of clothes that could fit into their hands. One helped Brianna into a sexy and pretty overcoat.

"Leave!" Abi commanded.

They scrambled around, picking up things hastily, and left within a couple of minutes.

"Mum! Quick! Tell me! When am I going to see him? When is the marriage?"

Abi held Brianna’s hand and directed her to the bed.

"I’m sorry, dear Brianna. Mum’s first attempt did not wor-"

"WHAT! You promised! YOU PROMISED! Why do you always do this? I hate you!"

Abi’s heart sank. She had known that Brianna would not take the news well, and that was why she had tried to garnish it well, but Brianna turned hysterical, jumping up from the bed and shaking her head vigorously as she backed away from her mother.

"Brianna! Let me re-work it for you again, or maybe let me get you another person. A better man than-"

"There is no better person than Ian! You know this, mum! Why do you want to do this to me?"

Abi also just did not understand why a criminal’s daughter was better than hers. However, at that moment, her only priority was to calm down her daughter. That was a very challenging task off to a wrong start.

"Brianna! You have to underst-"

"I DO NOT WANT to understand anything, Mum! A promise is a promise!"

Abi closed her eyes tightly, knowing that she was not getting through to Brianna. When she opened her eyes, it was like a different person. "I am also tired, Brianna! I offered everything, but the old bat would not budge. I’ll deal with them in my own way, just stay away from that friend of yours! I know that she was up to no good with those unusual features of hers."

Just then, Brianna’s phone buzzed, and the two women registered slightly surprised gazes at the caller ID.
