Chapter 4: Chapter 4

All through precious class before break, she had an unsettled feeling in her gut. She kept thinking of all Beauty, Blessing and Dorathy has said to her today.

She couldn't have lunch with them or else her little secret would be exposed. She was not embarrassed about her background but she wants a stress-free and non dramatic school year ahead.

There was no way, she wouldn't be exposed today or even tomorrow or next week. It was either they knew she was poor or wanted to know about her.

She stepped into the cafeteria, Royal stone was known for its excellent, healthy and nutritious food. They had chefs from all over the globe who made intercontinental dishes for the students.

The cafeteria was very big enough to contain over 500 students.

Precious took a deep breath as she stepped into the cafeteria, she looked around for Beauty and her minions, she halted trying to gather enough courage to go meet them. Beauty wasn't with them yet as she could only see Dorathy and Blessing.

Precious walked to join the line to get her lunch before she joined the table. They were oblivious of her presence as none of them raised their head to look at her.

It was awkward and she wasn't comfortable anymore.

Bethel typed on his phone not caring about what made Daniel and Jeremiah, his two best friends laugh. "Bethel, here comes your wife!" Daniel spat out finally getting Bethel attention. Bethel looked up towards the cafeteria entrance and behold was Beauty making her way to her table as she got attention from everyone.

He scoffed, just last month his father and her father announced to the both of them they were engaged and their engagement party was coming soon.

Bethel didn't care and had told his father to cancel it because he was never getting married early and to top it all to someone he didn't like.

He didn't like Beauty, she was just too annoying for his liking, although they had so much in common, he hated her more because she was an attention seeker. Her friends annoyed him the most, especially Dorathy with the face of an old woman in a seventeen years old body.

His eyes trailed on Beauty as she made her way to her friends. Jeremiah cussed upon seeing Beauty, he hated her more than anyone in this life considering she was the reason his girlfriend had to leave the school.

"Isn't that the girl that was always with Amanda?" Jeremiah asked Daniel. Bethel wasn't one to know much people as he didn't let in just anyone close to him like his two friends.

"That's Precious and what is she doing with them?" Jeremiah asked, he stared at the table wondering what Precious could be doing with those girls considering they didn't let just anyone sit with them.

"Don't tell me, she sold Amanda out!" He spat out. He clenched his hand as his face frowned.

"If you are that curious, go ask her," Daniel spat out not like he meant it. "And you could go pour out your frustrations on them instead of frowning from over here," Daniel said, not caring about his friend's reaction as he kept typing on his phone.

Precious sat down, her hands were sweaty and her legs were shaking, while they ate their food, she made no attempt to touch hers, she was in a mental breakdown state and she wasn't comfortable.

She was trying to keep up with what they were saying until Jeremiah showed up in front of their table speaking in a language she couldn't understand.

"Excuse you?!" Beauty spat out cutting Jeremiah short.

"What's your problem?" She asked.

"Just shut up and back off!" He retorts making Blessing and Dorothy gasp.

He turned back to Precious, "You are all so shameless and I dislike...no...I hate all of you, especially you!" He pointed at Precious making her gasp.

"What?!" She was shocked. Why would Jeremiah say so to her? She never expected him to be this way considering her relationship with Amanda.

"What did I do?" She asked, still confused and trying to comprehend the scene moments ago.

"That's a very good question," he paused. "If I were you, I'd definitely not be able to look at anyone's face." He spat out.

Precious was beyond shocked, She never expected Jeremiah to be so irrational. She always considered him as a different person unlike the rest of the people at Royal stone.

Jeremiah was hurt, he believed Precious betrayed Amanda or else no one would have figured out Amanda family status.

"That's a very good question." He smirked. He was going to expose her just like she did to Amanda.

"Can you please speak already!" Dorathy raised her voice.

"Do you know who she is?! Do you know about her fa-mi-ly?" Jeremiah dragged, making Beauty and her minions more curious. Precious began to worry, Jeremiah was going to put her in trouble for a reason she knew was not off.

"Who is her family? And what did she do?" Beauty asked.

"Do you know Amanda?" Jeremiah asked.

"Amanda Eke, yes we know her." They are chorused.

"This snitch here is her best friend and she is just as poor or even worse than Amanda!" he spat out.

It felt as if Precious' heart was about to come out from her chest, she began to panic, Beauty and her minions stared at her with an unreadable expression and not only them, the entire attention of the cafeteria was on them.

Jeremiah looked at her before raising his voice, "The truth is Precious is poor and is on scholarship!" He smirked at her before walking off.

They were whispers and loud mutterings all over the cafeteria, Precious bowed her head as her eyes began to glister with tears.

She knew her peaceful quiet days were over, before Beauty and her minions could say anything, she ran away in tears.

The school ended for the day and precious was quick to rush home. She has been avoiding running into Beauty and her minions. While she was approaching her home, she saw people outside with bags and bulldozers.

She saw her bags and her mother's and some of their belongings outside and she began to panic.

She asked one of their neighbors what was going on. "We've been told to evacuate instantly and not to be seen lurking around before eight or else we will be arrested."

Could this day get any worse?! Precious asked within her.
