Chapter 38: Chapter 38

Precious opened the door to the house, getting attention from everyone in the house.

Grace's head was on Austin's lap and as soon as she saw Precious, she rushed to embrace her.

"Precious, please forgive me! i don't regret having you!" She cried out, wrapping her arms around Precious tightly.

"My precious!" She cried out more.

"I'm so sorry, I never meant any of the words I said. You know I would rather die than see you die." She cried out bringing back those memories to Precious.

There was a certain time Precious was sick and Grace had sleepless nights because of her, Grace hardly ate as she used whatever money she had to fend for Precious.

For a whole week, Grace didn't sleep and Precious started to worry, so she acted strong one morning to make her mother sleep well. Precious loved her mother and she would forever be grateful that he loved her even with the problems she went through.

"It's fine mother, i understand." Precious said with a smile on her face.

Precious forgave her mother as she listened to Bethel's advice to grow past it. They did meetings and plannings on how to take a step further.

Austin wanted to make things right as he asked for an apology from them all. It was awkward for Precious as she was still comprehending the situation with Austin.

The journey to Bayelsa state was arranged for the settling and reuniting of everyone.

While Precious rode in her uncle's car, Grace rode in Austin's car.

They arrived at the southern ijaw local government at past seven in the evening, Grace's parents resided in Gbaramatu, one of the towns in the local government.

Precious noticed the state was a riverine setting, all the places were surrounded by water making it inaccessible to road.

When they reached the bungalow of a house, they saw people gathered, some with sad faces while some with tears. Grace was uncomfortable, she was back to the place where she grew up after seventeen good years.

Gideon walked up to ask one of the men who had greeted in a native dialect asking what happened.

"Gideon,Ini dau fi tei!" An elderly man spoke with a tragic voice.(Gideon, your father is dead!)

Immediately Grace screamed when she heard that, Precious didn't understand what they said but she knew it was painful news.

Soon, they all rushed into the house to see people crying on the floor while some were consoling an old woman which Precious traced some similarities of her mother to, she knew that was her grandmother.

"Eyin!" (Mother!) Gideon called out.

"Gideon." The old woman said. He walked up to her and wrapped his arms around her.

Soon the old woman looked towards Grace and she recognised her in an instance.

"Ebiwari" The grand woman had called with surprise laced on her tone

Grace cried when she heard her mother's voice.

"Grace!" A woman that looked the same age as Grace called and as soon as Grace saw her, Grace called her. "Trisha!"

The death of Precious' unknown grandfather was what happened and the reuniting happened.

"Eyin!" ( mother!) Grace cried out.

The evening went on with family members coming for the arrangement of the deceased Grandfathers.

Precious was lost as everything was too toxic for her to handle. She hadn't met the man and he died the day she was coming to see him.

After a week of arrangement for the funeral, they buried my grandfather. Austin decided to rectify his mistakes and said he wants to marry Grace but Grace rejected even with both family intervention.

Although Grace said she'd be friends with him, marriage was not on her list.

Precious and Grace continued to stay in Bayelsa and Precious continued her education there.

After seventeen years of separation, desperation, especially heartbreak, loneliness and rejection, Grace finally felt at home once more.

She was really happy and she decided to teach in a primary school to assist in the house.

After a month, Gideon went back to Lagos to continue his work

Precious celebrated Christmas and new year in another state for the first time and saw the different way people celebrated Christmas.

What more could she ask for?!

It was all over and a new life awaited her.
