Chapter 79: Chapter 79
Stellan waited anxiously at home. When he saw his parents’ car return, he immediately approached and asked, "Dad, Mom, how did it go?"
Autumn Fletcher shook her head, "He wouldn’t see us at all, he’s so heartless."
"I’ll go and beg him."
"Don’t go," Autumn Fletcher held her back, "We’ve already fallen out with Jacob Green. It was fine before, but he doesn’t like you at all now, going there would just be humiliating yourself."
"Then what should we do?" Stellan was extremely anxious. After all, he was part of the Quinn Family; if the company collapsed, he wouldn’t fare any better.
"Our company urgently needs financial support now. If someone helps us, we can get through this crisis. The issue is that everyone in the business world seeks profit. Who would help us offend the Clan Green? If you hadn’t had that scandal, we might have arranged a good marriage for you to bolster our Quinn Family. Now there’s almost no way out."
"Mom, what if I go abroad?"
"If going abroad could connect you to overseas tycoons, there might be a chance, otherwise it’s useless."
"Then I’ll try going abroad."
As long as it could save the Quinn Group, Stellan was willing to do anything.
But, man proposes and God disposes, and the Quinns sent Stellan to Country D at nine in the morning.
Stellan took a few bodyguards with him.
But he disappeared upon arriving at the airport.
Along with those bodyguards.
Anxiously, the Quinns asked for help from overseas police.
Even by using their toes to think, they knew who did it.
But without evidence, they couldn’t carelessly speak out.
Otherwise, it would be slander.
Benjamin Quinn and Autumn Fletcher were gnashing their teeth in hatred but were helpless. The company was on the brink of collapse, and their daughter was missing. They had to brace themselves and face it, definitely not panicking.
When Lucy arrived at Granny’s house, it was exactly noon.
Entering the door, she took a look and saw the entire small courtyard was neat and elegant, with a vegetable garden, a flower garden, fruit trees...
There was a small pavilion made of wooden stakes, with a grapevine winding around it.
The dishes were placed in the pavilion.
To her surprise, Granny had made eight dishes.
It seemed a bit much for just two people.
"Granny, why did you make so many dishes?"
"You came, I’m happy, quickly sit down and taste my cooking."
"It looks delicious," Lucy picked up her chopsticks, took a slice of meat, and tasted it, "Just as I thought, Granny, your cooking is delicious."
Granny smiled and served her a bowl of rice, "Then eat more. Don’t be shy here; you must eat well, or I’ll be unhappy."
"Don’t worry, Granny, I won’t be shy with you."
"That’s good." Granny picked up her chopsticks and said while eating, "From your fate, I can see your relationship with your family isn’t good."
"Yes," Lucy admitted frankly, "Maybe I’m naturally isolated from kin. Sometimes I’ve thought my birth was a mistake, since no one in my family likes me. I don’t think that way anymore; it’s not my fault my family doesn’t care for me."
"Good child, it’s right to think that way. How could a child be at fault? If there’s any blame, it belongs to the adults."
"Without first-hand experience, people can’t truly understand everything I’ve gone through from childhood till now. Fortunately, I’ve grown up and no longer need my parents’ love."
"Now that you’re married, I see Mr. Green treats you well too. Stop dwelling on the past, focus on living well now."
Just then, there was a shout from the doorway, "Mom."
Lucy and Granny both looked over and saw a short-haired, middle-aged woman carrying a bag as she came in.
She was tall, fair-skinned, and beautiful. Though she was fifty, she looked only around forty due to her well-maintained appearance.
As the middle-aged woman came closer, Lucy recognized her identity.
"Is she the Prime Minister’s wife?"
Granny introduced with a smile, "Yes, she’s my only daughter."
Lucy was astonished, never expecting Granny’s daughter to be so prominent, Prime Minister’s wife, Liora Hughes.
"Mom, who is this young lady?"
Lucy quickly stood up to greet her, "Hello Auntie, my name is Lucy Eaton."
Liora Hughes stared at her face for a few seconds before smiling, "Hello."
"She’s my guest. Why did you come?"
"I bought a fish to make soup for you."
"Put it in the kitchen."
Liora Hughes carried the bag into the kitchen.
After putting the fish away, she came out and joined them at the pavilion.
"This table full of dishes is certainly Mom’s handiwork."
"Of course." Granny asked, "Have you eaten?"
Liora Hughes turned her gaze back to Lucy’s face, "Miss Eaton, what do you do?"
"I’m a neurosurgeon at the People’s Hospital."
Liora Hughes quickly looked at her mother, "Mom, are you feeling unwell?"
"No, don’t worry unnecessarily," Granny said with a smile, "I didn’t meet Lucy at a hospital."
"Really? You startled me."
"Lucy, keep eating, the food will get cold." Granny urged.
"Liora, since you’re here, I don’t need to call you. Next Saturday you should come with me to the Grand Saint Temple to burn incense. Lucy, are you free that day? If you are, please join us."
"Sure," Though I’m working that day, I can take a leave.
After finishing the meal, Lucy didn’t stay long and soon departed.
Leaving the mother and daughter alone in the pavilion. This content belongs to novel-fire.ɴet
"Mom, when did you get to know Miss Eaton?"
"Mom, you’ve never liked associating with the younger generation, why have a meal with her at the same table? You even cooked so many dishes personally and want to bring her to the temple, yet you’ve never been so nice to my son Mason."
"Because she is worth treating well." Granny did not explain the reason to her daughter.
"I was stunned at first glance because her eyes and mouth really resemble Mason’s father."
"I hadn’t thought that until you mentioned it. Now that I think about it, she does resemble Jackson a bit," Granny chuckled, "You’ve always said you regretted not having a daughter when you were young. Would you like to recognize Lucy as your goddaughter?"
Seeing her speechless, Granny said, "Don’t feel disadvantaged, she’s a good kid. You’d be lucky if she agrees to this."
"I’m not feeling disadvantaged, it’s just today is my first time meeting her, we’re not familiar, and I don’t know her well, how could I casually acknowledge a goddaughter?"
"You can get to know her quickly; you like her, don’t you?" Granny grabbed her daughter’s hand, "I particularly child. I won’t misjudge. If you accept her, it will be the wisest decision of your life."
Liora Hughes had never seen her mother speak so highly of a younger person, she asked, "Do you really like her that much?"
