Chapter 162: Chapter 162
Flora’s body jerked, looking helplessly at Lewis, "What should we do?"
"I’ll call the young master."
While he was making the call, Flora didn’t forget to take Mason Baker’s phone out and completely delete the photos. She wasn’t reassured even after deleting them, so she simply put his phone in her bag and took it away.
"The young master has completely gone silent, could something have happened? Quick, go get the keys."
Hearing this from outside, Flora was thoroughly bewildered.
Lewis grabbed her hand, "Follow me."
Flora followed him to the window, stepping out first and standing on the air-conditioning rack, "Come over."
She looked below, gritted her teeth, and climbed out of the window.
Flora reached out and hugged his waist tightly, descending from the second-floor window using the rope he had tied when he climbed up.
Upon landing, Lewis could barely stand. To avoid being pursued, Flora didn’t have time to support him to their car and hastily hailed a taxi.
"Driver, to the hospital."
"No." Lewis stopped her, whispering, "Your identity... Let’s go back to the Palmer Family, the family doctor can bandage it."
"I still need to get a check-up."
"No need." His voice lowered.
Seeing that his condition was extremely poor, Flora instructed the driver to drive faster and return to the Palmer Family.
Upon arrival at the Palmer Family’s entrance, Lewis was unconscious.
This scared Flora considerably.
She hurriedly called for someone to help him to the room.
When Mr. and Mrs. Palmer rushed to Flora’s side, they were a bit taken aback.
"Why are you dressed ?"
"We’ll talk later." Flora’s face was ashen as she advised, "Quick, have the family doctor come and check on Lewis, I’ll go change clothes."
When she returned after changing, Lewis’s injuries were already bandaged.
"What did the doctor say?"
"The injury isn’t life-threatening, not a big deal, he just needs some rest."
Flora felt relieved and sat by the bed, her mood extremely low, "He was beaten by Mason Baker."
"Mason Baker? How did you encounter him?"
"I didn’t see Harper at all, it was Mason who had Harper invite me out, he said he liked me, wanted me to follow him, and tried to prevent me from leaving with Lewis. During the confrontation with his bodyguards, he forcibly took me to another room, tied me up, and cut my outer clothes with scissors. Fortunately, Lewis climbed over from the window to rescue me, and they started fighting. Mason smashed Lewis first, and Lewis retaliated by knocking him out."
At this point, Flora burst into tears.
Mrs. Palmer was trembling with anger, "That Mason Baker, really deserves to die! It doesn’t matter if he’s from the Baker Clan, have your brother send someone to assassinate him quietly."
Mr. Palmer was also furious but remained rational, "Do you think if our family kills him, what future does the Palmer Family have? Despite everything, he is a member of the Baker Clan and also the captain of the Northriver City Police’s criminal investigation team. If he dies, won’t they thoroughly investigate? If it comes back to us, what would happen if we bear the crime of murder?"
"Are we just going to let Aveline suffer injustice?"
Mr. Palmer replied, "We must suffer in silence, after all, Mason Baker was injured too. If Arthur Bennett finds out, would he think Aveline had some unresolved matter with Mason Baker which is now tangled up?"
"What kind of good person is he himself?!"
"This matter should be kept secret, buried within us."
Flora lowered her head, feeling an unusual pain in her heart.
"Aveline, go rest, don’t think too much."
"Mom and Dad, have the kitchen prepare some food to bring up, I’ll wait for Lewis to wake up before going back to my room."
Mrs. Palmer nodded, "Alright, if it weren’t for Lewis, who knows what that beast Mason Baker might have done to you."
The couple left the room, Flora’s body slid down the bedside, lying on her knees, and she burst into tears.
Lucy Eaton was just about to sleep when Jacob Green returned from outside, "Mason Baker really needs a lesson."
"Mrs. Palmer had a minor surgery, today Flora went back to visit her, Mason Baker had Flora’s friend invite her out, then prevented Flora and her bodyguard from leaving, and they got into a dispute. Mason Baker is now lying in the hospital, and Flora’s bodyguard is injured."
"Dispute? Probably more than that?" Lucy Eaton recalled hearing old lady Baker discussing Mason Baker’s marriage at the Prime Minister’s Mansion, and that day Flora was mentioned, "Even if Mason Baker is bold, he wouldn’t dare touch Arthur Bennett’s wife unless he has a motive. Obviously, he was acting under Stellan Quinn’s instruction; she wanted to bring Flora down, and naturally resort to crooked means. But given Stellan Quinn’s intelligence, she probably hasn’t thought of that level yet. Then again, with Grace Hughes as the strategist, anything shameless could happen."
"How’s the Palmer Family handling this?"
"What else can they do? To protect Flora’s reputation and to prevent Mason Baker from retaliating, they’re preparing to end this matter quietly, pretending it never happened."
"If they really deal with it, it would be quite tricky." Lucy Eaton felt a deeper disgust towards Mason Baker, "Those siblings are really shameless."
"Genes get passed down."
Lucy Eaton gave him a smile, "All thanks to Autumn Fletcher’s good genes. As the saying goes, dragons give birth to dragons, phoenixes produce phoenixes, rats’ sons are born to dig holes. Bloodlines do tend to have substantial hereditary tendencies."
"What do you think our child would be like?"
"Never thought about it." Lucy Eaton’s voice was lazy, she lay her head on her hand, avoiding his gaze, "We’ll know when we have one."
Jacob Green looked at her, "I’m looking forward to that day."
"Do you like children?"
"Not really, I’m not very patient with children, but if they’re ours, I would like them very much."
At this moment, Lucy Eaton’s phone rang, Jacob Green picked it up and glanced at it, "It’s Flora calling."
"Give it to me." She sat up to answer, "Hello."
Flora’s voice on the other end was very hoarse, "Lucy, are you free tomorrow?"
"Tomorrow is Saturday, I’m off." Tʜe source of this ᴄontent ɪs novel·fire·net
"Can you come to Northriver? You know, I’m not comfortable going alone, I’d like to see you."
Lucy Eaton agreed, "Sure, I’ll just visit my parents."
"Then see you tomorrow, call me when you get to Northriver."
Flora hung up, her red and swollen eyes feeling sore, she looked at the still-unconscious bodyguard Lewis on the bed, her gaze softened.
Lewis didn’t awaken the whole night until nearly seven in the morning.
"You’re finally awake, does your head still hurt badly?" She stood up from the chair to ask.
"I’ll get you breakfast."
"No need to bother, Miss, I can go down myself."
But Flora insisted, "You got injured saving me, bringing breakfast is nothing to me. There are clean clothes on the sofa, put them on."
