Chapter 94: Chapter 94
Ye Ling shook her head. She had gone to the Zhao Family’s house after having dinner at home, where her mother was trying to persuade Ye Qian to eat more, so she didn’t know what had happened after she left.
The words that were at the tip of her tongue, Ye Ling swallowed back down, knowing that as soon as she spoke, her mother would be the first to come at her, as if she had done something terrible even though she hadn’t done anything yet.
Ye Ling shook her head, Bai Xue unhappily glared, "Hurry up and find her, Ye Qian argued with me over you and left in anger. Just look at yourself! You’ve been cold to your sister all day, yet she speaks well of you to me every day. How can you be so heartless?"
It turned out that when Bai Xue returned home yesterday planning to make dinner, she found that half of a radish was missing and two bowls of millet rice were gone, and knew it had been eaten by Ye Ling. However, Ye Ling hadn’t left her room all night, and Bai Xue couldn’t chase her for eating two bowls of rice. Early the next morning, before she could say much, Ye Ling had left, not even taking lunch.
Bai Xue held a grudge in her heart; anyway, since she had eaten a lot yesterday, she considered it eating today’s lunch too. But her daughter’s attitude made her feel uncomfortable. During dinner, she brought it up again, and Ye Ling retorted with a few words, leaving Bai Xue unable to talk to her daughter and filled with anger.
After Ye Ling left the house, Bai Xue couldn’t help nagging, and Ye Qian couldn’t help but complain unhappily about the situation at home. Bai Xue, unable to hold back, said something more harshly, causing her daughter to angrily go into her room without finishing her meal.
Seeing her daughter angry made Bai Xue regretful and she also blamed her elder daughter. After clearing the table, she went out, specially taking the only canning jar at home to buy a can of food, only to find her younger daughter missing upon her return, causing panic, and then she ran into her elder daughter.
She impatiently wanted to reach out and push her away when she thought of something, placing her hand down, but the more she thought about it, the more irritable she became. Ye Ling calmly said, "Mom can’t find her, and I don’t know anyone in the courtyard to know where to look."
Anyone could die, Ye Qian wouldn’t, so Ye Ling wasn’t worried at all.
And as for Ye Qian speaking well for her, forget it. She didn’t need to guess to know Ye Qian was playing the role of Bai Lianhua, being a good person and making their mother like her even less.
Bai Xue glared angrily, "Fine, if you can’t find her, go home and wait. When she comes back, have her stay home and wait for me."
Giving her elder daughter a displeased glance, she then went into the courtyard to search.
Ye Ling was long used to her mother’s angry attitude upon seeing her and wasn’t bothered, going directly home. She saw the house was clean, not seeming like anything happened, making her even more puzzled.
Bai Xue was searching everywhere in the courtyard for her daughter, while Liu Rui and Ye Qian, with snacks in hand, were under the back window of the small warehouse, looking at the back window. Liu Rui was anxious.
Liu Rui had been worried about her brother, having cried several times at home. Her father wouldn’t relent. After enduring a day, as soon as her father went to the company, she immediately went to find Ye Qian after school, bringing snacks to secretly deliver them.
Ye Qian had been hurriedly pulled by Liu Rui and didn’t have time to tell her mother, not knowing that her mother mistakenly thought she was born, causing her to worry and search everywhere.
Ye Qian glanced around, "There’s a stone here, step on it and see if we can get up."
The stone was the same one Ye Ling used yesterday.
Liu Rui looked happy, but her smile quickly twisted with concern; she had never climbed that high, and this was her first time sneaking over to deliver something.
Seeing her concern, Ye Qian stepped onto the stone, her face just level with the back window ledge, smiling as she looked down at Liu Rui, "Okay, I’ll knock on the window to see if they can open it."
With the problem solved, Liu Rui nodded happily. Ye Qian then turned back and knocked on the window, just about to say something when the window opened to reveal Zhao Guodong’s smiling face.
Seeing it wasn’t Ye Ling, but Ye Qian, Zhao Guodong was surprised, speaking kindly, "How come it’s you?"
Unlike Song Mei, who had such a nasty attitude, Ye Qian was petite and charming, gentle and sweet.
Ye Qian was also embarrassed, shyly biting her lip, "Seeing that you all are in good spirits is great."
Liu Rui had brought the snacks, and Ye Qian couldn’t claim them as hers, feeling awkward seeing Zhao Guodong and wondering how to call Liu Zhiyuan over to talk.
Luckily, Liu Rui outside the warehouse asked about her brother, providing Ye Qian with a reason. She sheepishly smiled at Zhao Guodong, who nodded before jumping down to call Liu Zhiyuan.
Hearing he was being addressed, Liu Zhiyuan didn’t dawdle, walking straight over and standing on a chair. Seeing him, Ye Qian directly stated the truth, "Xiao Rui is worried about you; she brought you some snacks. Brother Zhiyuan, are you okay?"
Ye Qian’s voice was soft, her eyes like butterflies poised to take flight under the night sky, needing just a loud noise to scare them away.
Liu Zhiyuan took the snacks, thanked her, "Tell Xiao Rui not to worry. I’ll be out in two days."
Ye Qian obediently nodded, and Liu Zhiyuan reminded them to return early before closing the window. Ye Qian snapped out of the trance induced by Liu Zhiyuan’s spring breeze-like smile, feeling a warmth in her face as she jumped down from the stone.
Liu Rui didn’t notice this, anxiously pulling on her, "How’s my brother?"
"Brother Zhiyuan is in good spirits. Now that the snacks are delivered, you can rest easy."
Liu Rui nodded happily, "Qianqian, I truly can’t thank you enough. Otherwise, I wouldn’t know who to turn to."
"You’re welcome. This whole thing started because of my family. I didn’t know how to make it up before, so I’m glad I could do this. It makes me feel a bit better."
"It’s not your family’s fault; it’s all Zhao Guodong’s fault." A rare expression of anger appeared on Liu Rui’s innocent face.
Ye Qian comforted her with a few words. The two, holding hands in close friendship, were just about to leave the back of the warehouse when a figure blocked their path. Seeing the person ahead, Liu Rui fearfully shrank behind Ye Qian.
Ye Qian pressed her lips, inwardly annoyed that Liu Rui would hide at the first sign of trouble. She knew that if she pushed Liu Rui out now, Liu Rui would hold a grudge against her, so she had to bear the blame herself.
"Which family do you belong to? I’ll take you home." This person was the same guard who caught Ye Ling yesterday.
Ye Qian looked pitifully at the guard, "We know we were wrong. Can we just let this one slide?"
The guards in the courtyard were mostly young, and Ye Qian had never taken them seriously, though she maintained her usual gentle demeanor, her tone didn’t soften much. (To be continued.
