Chapter 430: Chapter 430
Seeing that he had made her cry, Shen Bin’s heart skipped a beat, and he immediately got out of bed, walked over, and held her in his arms, apologizing repeatedly. Ye Ling was both angry and aggrieved, directly breaking free. As she got up, she wiped away the tears from her face, "I have to be on duty tonight at work, so you should go to bed early."
"Late at night, what kind of duty are you talking about? Just sleep." Shen Bin saw that she was upset and wanted to leave, so he was anxious. "I was just mentioning it because Chun’er is sensitive. You causing a scene would upset her as well, which is why the words came out harsh. We are a couple, so don’t take what I said to heart."
Ye Ling raised her hand to brush away his hand as it reached over again, looking at him angrily with dissatisfaction on her graceful face, glaring directly at Shen Bin, making his heart panic. Her following words made him regret what he previously said even more, "Yes, she’s sensitive. She grew up with you. After all these years, you’ve always cared about her feelings. But what about me? I’ve only been with you for a few days. Have you ever cared about my feelings? When you compare it , don’t you see how selfish you are? She’s your sister, one of your own family members, and I’m your wife, newly married and considered an outsider. You don’t consider an outsider’s feelings but only care about your own family’s feelings. Should I say Shen Bin protects his family or say you are selfish?"
Shen Bin only felt the veins on both sides of his forehead throbbing. He didn’t know why his explanations made things worse, so he could only apologize repeatedly, "Yes, it’s my fault. I didn’t think it through. I’m apologizing to you; could you forgive me this time?"
How could he know that his humble and subservient attitude added fuel to the fire in Ye Ling’s eyes? When had he ever acted before? Now, for Shen Chun, he was completely submissive. What does this mean? It just shows he’s biased toward Shen Chun’s side.
Ye Ling knew she should handle this matter calmly, so she picked up her coat and tried to address Shen Bin as calmly as possible, "We both need to calm down. If I continue talking to you, I imagine you’ll become like someone you don’t even recognize. I don’t want to see myself like that, nor do I want to become that way. Let’s talk about this again when we’ve both calmed down."
"Wait a minute." Shen Bin saw that she was genuinely furious and knew he couldn’t stop her, so he called after her, "You stay here at home; I’ll go to the office. It’s a chance to chat with everyone and see what they’re up to."
Ye Ling hesitated about whether to agree, but Shen Bin added, "You’re a woman and have just arrived; no one would ask you to be on duty. If you suddenly go over , others would immediately know we’ve had a quarrel. Being speculated about is not serious, but being criticized is never good."
Only then did Ye Ling nod. Shen Bin deftly dressed himself and donned a hat before leaving the room. Before leaving, he specifically glanced at Ye Ling, "Don’t overthink it. I actually had no other intention; perhaps it was miscommunication that made you misunderstand."
Ye Ling pretended not to hear, busy making the bed. Shen Bin retracted his gaze somewhat disappointedly and left. Google seaʀᴄh novel✦fire.net
Just as the sound of the door closing from the outer room faded, sitting on the bed in the inner room, Ye Ling heard Shen Chun’s voice next door following Shen Bin; they spoke briefly and then quietened. The sound of the door there didn’t come for a while, and Ye Ling had no desire to think further. Just as she was about to take off her jacket and lie down, she heard her door being knocked on and, before responding, opened as someone walked in.
Ye Ling draped the jacket over herself, turned her head and saw Shen Chun cautiously enter, standing at the inner room doorway, "Sis-in-law, did you quarrel with my brother?"
Although it was still summer, mornings and evenings on the mountain were cold, and Ye Ling felt more comfortable with the jacket on, even in the room. But Shen Chun wore only a vest, so Ye Ling slowly withdrew her gaze, "Didn’t you just run into your brother? Didn’t you ask him?"
Ye Ling’s tone was unfriendly, and Shen Chun picked up on it, growing more cautious, "I asked him. He said he’s going on duty, getting familiar with the employees."
"Since your brother already told you, why ask again if we quarreled?" Ye Ling was close to directly saying she was too nosy but refrained from saying anything kind, "Chun’er, your brother and I are a couple. Even if we did quarrel, it’s our business, something we’ll resolve ourselves. Although you’re not an outsider, I haven’t heard of a sister-in-law intervening in a couple’s affairs. Isn’t that right?"
Shen Chun’s face turned red, "Sis-in-law, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean anything by it; I was just worried about you two and afraid that you quarreled because of me."
Seeing her on the verge of tears again, Ye Ling didn’t want to watch and decided to leave it at that, "Chun’er, it’s late, go sleep."
Directly ushering her out.
Shen Chun could only slowly nod, and as she turned around, Ye Ling reminded her again, "We’re close to the office area here, full of young men. Don’t come out wearing so little, as it won’t be good for your reputation."
That fitted women’s vest is almost considered a woman’s undergarment, openly worn . Back in the countryside, some women wore it during the hot summer, but those were married women with kids. Shen Chun has yet to marry, coming out on such a chilly evening. Ye Ling already disliked her, so how could she approve?
As she finished speaking, watching Shen Chun’s body stiffen briefly before walking off briskly, Ye Ling calmly looked away, listening to the sound of the door closing outside. Then she pulled the lamp cord to turn off the light; as she lay on the bed, Ye Ling’s mind was churning over how Shen Chun might complain tomorrow. After quarreling with Shen Bin this evening, she genuinely hoped Shen Chun would complain, so she could argue with Shen Bin again, allowing her to vent her pent-up frustrations.
Unknowingly, she fell asleep. Meanwhile, at the camp, Shen Bin only took a stroll outside before heading back home, entering in the dark, removing his coat as he went to the inner room, tiptoeing onto the bed. After lying quietly for a while, seeing he hadn’t roused the sleeping person, he gently embraced the person beside him. Although he felt cold after being outside, he instantly warmed up. Yet, thinking about how he always upset his wife, Shen Bin helplessly sighed, resolved to sincerely apologize again tomorrow; having just married her, he couldn’t let her suffer.
He pondered his attitude towards both his sister and his wife, realizing there was a problem. Although there were areas where he’d let his sister down, he couldn’t continually favor one side. His wife was sensitive; how couldn’t she feel it?
