Chapter 421: Chapter 421
Bai Xue is utterly disappointed with everything now. Her youngest daughter only advises her, unable to offer much help. Ye Ling is stirring up trouble, and her husband doesn’t want her anymore, seeking someone else. At this point, she’s completely lost, and when people reach this level of madness, they can do many crazy things they otherwise wouldn’t do.
"I am going to the workplace to expose him, expose him for abandoning his wife and having an affair outside." Bai Xue harshly threw these words and turned to leave.
Left behind, Ye Qian, seeing the situation was bad, chased after her in big strides.
If her father is pinned with such a crime, if it truly happens, her life in the company as a daughter won’t be easy. Ye Ling might not care, with the Li Family backing her, but she can’t ignore it. Ye Qian resents Ye Ling for making a spectacle of the situation and causing it to blow up, and she hates herself for forgetting that she’s no match for Ye Ling. Every confrontation ends in her defeat, yet she never learns, so why does she always confront Ye Ling directly?
Outside, only Ye Ling and Shen Bin were left. Shen Bin finally spoke, "You cook, and I’ll go inside to talk to Dad."
Ye Ling nodded, seeing Shen Bin somewhat embarrassedly enter the room. She knew her mother’s words had hit the most fragile part of Shen Bin’s heart. Perhaps, for Shen Bin, being with her makes it difficult for him to hold his head up high regarding relationships, as his niece became his wife.
Ye Ling looked at the messy kitchen, didn’t think much, and got to work. She picked the vegetables while putting them into the basin to wash. Once the ingredients were cut and placed on plates, ready for frying, even the rice in the pot was cooked. Ye Ling didn’t know what Shen Bin said, but he didn’t stay long inside, came out quickly, and her father came out too. Although he wasn’t smiling, it was evident he wasn’t as angry as before.
There were six dishes in total, both meat and vegetables, all prepared by Ye Ling. After the meal and cleaning up, they sat for a while longer. Only then did Ye Ling and Shen Bin pack their things and head to the station. Just before leaving, Ye Ling finally spoke, "Dad, don’t take this to heart; call me if anything comes up."
"Don’t worry." Ye He Ping patted his daughter’s shoulder, "Get along well with Shen Bin, don’t act childish."
Ye Ling nodded, and only then did she and Shen Bin head straight to the station. When her father’s figure was out of sight, Ye Ling asked him, "What did you say to my dad?"
"Nothing much, your dad figured it out himself." Shen Bin didn’t elaborate, carrying his bag and suitcase, walking briskly ahead.
Ye Ling had to quicken her pace to keep up with his stride. Seeing how unromantic he was, she couldn’t help comparing him to the person in the room on their wedding night; they seemed like two complete extremes. She even began to doubt if the person in the room that night was indeed him, and seeing Shen Bin’s appearance that he didn’t want to explain, she didn’t ask further.
They reached the station and went to the waiting room. Ye Ling dozed off for a while there, and not long after, they checked tickets and boarded the train. Both had lower berths, opposite each other and adjacent. After boarding, Shen Bin suggested Ye Ling sleep for a while first. Ye Ling didn’t hesitate, took off her shoes, and lay down. She thought she wouldn’t fall asleep before the train moved, but unexpectedly, she quickly fell into a deep sleep as soon as she closed her eyes.
When she woke up, it was pitch dark outside; she couldn’t see anything. When Ye Ling sat up and glanced at the opposite berth, no one was there; it was empty. Ye Ling didn’t think much of it at first, but after waiting for quite a while without seeing anyone return, she couldn’t help but wrinkle her brow. After putting on her shoes, she went looking.
At the junction between two train cars, she saw Shen Bin, and standing opposite Shen Bin was someone who shouldn’t have been on the train. As she drew closer, she could also see a train officer, and once Ye Ling arrived, the three of them noticed her.
"Sister-in-law." Shen Chun weakly called out to the person who had arrived.
Ye Ling didn’t show her a cold face, responding with a faint smile, "Sister is also on this train? Where are you heading?" Get full chapters from novel-fire.net
Ye Ling instinctively asked this question, as anyone would. The moment she spoke, Shen Bin’s face turned white, void of color, as if something significant had happened, and Shen Bin looked over with some displeasure.
Originally, Ye Ling felt quite guilty towards Shen Chun like she might have caused misunderstandings again. But seeing Shen Bin glare at her, she got angry and fiercely glared back, "What’s wrong? Did I say something wrong?"
Over there, Shen Chun started crying anxiously, "Sister-in-law, don’t be upset, you didn’t say anything wrong, it’s not your fault."
Ye Ling didn’t bother with her, not even sparing her a glance.
Even though she had only encountered Shen Chun three times, including the wedding day, Ye Ling truly disliked Shen Chun’s nature, always crying. Moreover, the last time she sought her out, she said such things, making Ye Ling feel this person was somewhat two-faced. Now, seeing her crying again as if she had been grievously wronged, Ye Ling disliked her even more.
Shen Bin could tell at a glance that his wife was upset, feeling both anxious and helpless. Yet, at this moment, it wasn’t the time to explain. He turned to the train officer beside him and said, "Please, I’ll pay for her ticket. I just wonder if there’s still a sleeper available?"
Though the train officer was curious, he had no intention of prying into others’ family matters. Seeing that Shen Bin was quite courteous, he replied, "There’s one empty berth left, so come with me to buy her ticket."
Shen Bin nodded, turning back to Ye Ling, "Take Chun’er to our berth first. I’ll explain everything to you when I return."
Ye Ling felt angry inside, giving him no pleasant expression. However, she wouldn’t be unreasonable and walk away, so she said to Shen Chun, "Let’s go."
Yet, she was noticeably colder than before.
Everyone present could see it. Shen Bin glanced over but said nothing, followed the train officer, and Shen Chun followed Ye Ling back to the berth.
After Ye Ling sat down, she pointed to the opposite berth, where Shen Chun stood cautiously at the aisle, "That’s your brother’s berth, you can sit."
Only then did Shen Chun sit down, speaking quietly, "Sister-in-law, don’t blame Big Brother. I sneaked out on my own. I don’t want to burden him with trouble. I know I’m uneducated, and asking him to find me a job would be a burden for him, but I didn’t have money to buy a ticket, so I snuck onto the train. Then, the train officer caught me, and it just so happened that Brother came out and encountered it. Rest assured, I won’t trouble you, I’ll get off at the next stop."
The only sound in the berth was Shen Chun’s voice, as everything else remained quiet. After all, none of the compartments’ lights were turned on much as people on both the upper and lower berths were asleep.
