Chapter 288: Chapter 288

Shen Bin suppressed the anger in his heart and looked at the school leaders nearby. Shen Bin could be considered both a student and half a guardian. With such an incident happening, standing by Ye Ling’s side was naturally expected. However, he was also from the military and had led freshmen military training, which gave him some connections with the school leadership.

Now that Ye Ling’s situation had blown up , the school couldn’t avoid making a statement.

"Let’s get her examined first." A slightly overweight man standing next to Shen Bin stepped forward and patted Shen Bin’s shoulder, "Stay calm."

Shen Bin’s personality was cold, and they were used to it. In particular, they admired how excellent Shen Bin was. Following the school leaders’ advice, Shen Bin let Ye Ling sit in a wheelchair and pushed her to get examined. If Ye Ling could still hear, Shen Bin would have already scolded her. Just a moment of inattention, and such an incident occurred. Shen Bin genuinely felt he should tie this little girl to his side.

The school conducted an investigation, and Shen Bin roughly understood the truth of the matter. However, he didn’t fully believe it, especially since Ma Yue was able to cleanly get away, and Dong Minghui, whose father was just an office worker, wouldn’t have the guts. It would be more plausible to say Ma Yue was the mastermind.

As for Fu Lei, Shen Bin had never thought well of him. He couldn’t believe there truly existed such pure people who remained unaffected in dire circumstances. He had warned the little girl before, thinking they were students and nothing significant would happen, so he hadn’t paid much attention. He didn’t expect today’s students to be so calculating and to come up with such a malicious plan.

After everything was checked and a few specialists had reviewed the scans, they finally relayed the results to Shen Bin, "Her hearing loss is temporary, but when it will recover depends on her future condition."

Shen Bin was very pleased upon hearing the examination results. After the doctors left, he went to Ye Ling’s bedside. Ye Ling had been given a drip and lay listlessly on the hospital bed. Shen Bin sighed, pulled a chair next to the bed, sat down, picked up a pen and paper from the table, wrote a sentence, and handed it to Ye Ling.

Ye Ling’s eyes moved slightly, glanced at the paper, then turned away without picking up the pen beside her. Shen Bin picked up the pen and wrote another sentence, handing it directly to Ye Ling. Ye Ling angrily glared at Shen Bin, finally picked up the pen, wrote a few words, and put the pen down.

Shen Bin looked at it, nodded, stood up, and left.

The first sentence Shen Bin wrote was ’What do you plan to do?’ Ye Ling ignored him, so he wrote another sentence, ’Do you want my help?’

Ye Ling, finally worn out by Shen Bin, directly wrote ’As you please.’

At the moment of doing it, Ye Ling had anticipated the worst outcome, which was being expelled from the school. Now that she was deaf and couldn’t hear, Ye Ling had given up, or perhaps she had given up on life. In her previous life, she had been so miserable; in this life, she tried so hard, yet the result was still . Ye Ling hated her foolishness, being manipulated in both lives, and how naive she was, being humiliated in the end.

Now that something had happened, and Ma Yue and the others couldn’t escape, one person paid for the three of them, which was some consolation.

So when Shen Bin asked her again, Ye Ling simply replied with ’as you please.’ No matter how capable Shen Bin was, this was Beijing, and it was a school; he couldn’t do much. Therefore, Ye Ling didn’t take it to heart.

After Shen Bin left, he met Zhao Guodong and Sui Gang, who had rushed to the hospital. Hearing that Ye Ling’s condition was only temporary, both Zhao Guodong and Sui Gang breathed a sigh of relief.

Sui Gang then recounted the situation he knew, "Instructor Shen, I’ve already spoken to my grandfather. He said he could have someone put in a word on Ye Ling’s behalf to try and keep her at the school, but it’s not guaranteed."

This was already quite favorable, at least offering a possibility rather than a direct refusal.

Shen Bin nodded and explained what Dong Minghui had done regarding the school. Zhao Guodong listened and began to curse aloud but understood it wasn’t the time to be angry. He revealed what he knew of the truth, to which Shen Bin nodded, realizing it aligned with his expectations.

"You two stay at the hospital with Ye Ling for now. I’m handling this situation, and you two should not get involved any further. Don’t go looking for trouble with Ma Yue and Fu Lei either," Shen Bin glanced specifically at Zhao Guodong.

Zhao Guodong understood Shen Bin was warning him, but he restrained himself from responding, bringing Sui Gang along to Ye Ling’s hospital room. After Shen Bin left, he first found a phone booth to call Ye He Ping. After hearing the truth of the situation over the phone, Ye He Ping remained silent for a moment before saying he would take leave immediately to come to Beijing and leave everything to Shen Bin’s discretion, after which they ended the call.

Shen Bin then called Li Houguo. Upon hearing the voice of his father on the other end, Shen Bin fell silent for a moment before speaking in a deep voice, "Dad."

On the other end of the line, Li Houguo, having heard nothing for a while, wondered who was calling. He felt surprised to be addressed as ’Dad’ over the phone.

Li Houguo was momentarily stunned, then became overjoyed but quickly realized something. In his usual stern tone, he asked, "You want something from me, don’t you?"

After acknowledging this son, Li Houguo had done much, but this son had never called him ’Dad.’ Now, with a sudden phone call and being addressed as Dad, Li Houguo was initially pleased, but he wasn’t swept away by joy, seeing that unusual circumstances often indicated something more. Knowing his son’s stubbornness and unwillingness to bow his head, he figured something significant must have happened.

From the moment he picked up the phone, Shen Bin had already put his pride aside. Hearing his father’s question, he straightforwardly explained Ye Ling’s situation. However, he altered the story, saying Ye Ling liked him, not Fu Lei, and Fu Lei misunderstood it, with Ye Ling always concerned about her dignity, couldn’t bear such humiliation, leading to the altercation.

"You truly have never considered me your father. Do you think telling me this will make me believe it’s true? Don’t I know your nature? You’ve always taken care of that Ye Family girl, now you say Ye Ling likes you; do you take me for a fool? You’re lying because you’re afraid I won’t agree, right?" Li Houguo sighed, though seeing through his son’s lie, he still didn’t let it affect his son’s pride. "I’ll take care of this matter. You don’t need to worry about anything else."

However, before hanging up, Li Houguo laid down a condition, "You’re no longer young. Get your personal matters squared away." (To be continued.
