Chapter 267: Chapter 267
After the emergency assembly, the five-kilometer cross-country started. In the darkness, we carried our luggage and walked. The five girls naturally fell behind. Just over a mile into it, she wasn’t a little girl anymore not to know what’s going on. The summer camouflage clothes weren’t thick, and Ye Ling could imagine what her pants would look like when dawn came. Ye Ling’s face flushed with embarrassment, her steps slowed down, and seeing Yang Hui and Liu Nan being left behind because of her, Ye Ling felt even more uncomfortable inside.
"You two go ahead. There’s no need for you both to fall behind and fail because of me." Ye Ling covered her stomach, "It’s just that my stomach doesn’t feel well. If I fail, the instructor can at least understand that."
"Ye Ling, why don’t we take you back to school?" Yang Hui looked at how Ye Ling’s pace was slowing down and couldn’t help but worry.
"Yeah, failing is failing. We’re still in school, and we’ll have more training to do later anyway. It’s not urgent." Liu Nan, with more knowledge, added.
"No way, it’s just the second day. You two go on." Ye Ling insisted, urging them both.
Yang Hui considered for a moment, then looked up at Liu Nan, "Then let’s go. There are people behind, and although it’s still dark, it’s not unsafe."
Liu Nan hesitated for a moment and then nodded, "Let’s go then."
After reminding Ye Ling to pay attention to safety, the two finally left. Once she was alone, Ye Ling sighed. The five-kilometer exercise was in a remote area, and there was nowhere to buy anything. Ye Ling considered turning back, but she had already walked halfway, and going back would be a waste of effort again. But with dawn approaching, by the time she reached the school gate, her pants would be stained with blood.
Ye Ling almost wanted to cry. How could she be so unlucky to encounter this situation?
"What are you doing here? You’re supposed to be out here for the exercise, not for a stroll," a cold, hard voice came from behind.
Ye Ling’s body stiffened. She didn’t need to turn around to know who it was. Although it wasn’t Shen Bin’s fault, Ye Ling couldn’t help but direct her embarrassment towards him. She walked on silently, and Shen Bin had already strode up from behind, observing her walking strangely and silently.
"Sprained your foot?" Shen Bin pursued inquisitively.
Ye Ling bit her lip, ignoring him.
Shen Bin’s brows furrowed, "Ye Ling, stand at attention."
Ye Ling glared at him. Was this man born to oppose her? But she truly had no reason, so she obediently obeyed. Seeing Ye Ling glaring at him, Shen Bin coldly repeated, "Ye Ling, stand at attention." Find the newest release on noveⅼfire.net
Only then did Ye Ling stand straight in a military posture with her backpack, her face tightened and more unsightly, staring straight ahead, avoiding eye contact with Shen Bin.
"Speak up, what’s wrong?" Shen Bin’s voice softened a bit. How could he not see this little girl acting stubborn with him?
Shen Bin was here for further training, hoping for a promotion. They borrowed people from this batch of trainees to help with the freshman military training. He expected to run into this little girl eventually at school, but not so soon.
From afar, Shen Bin saw a figure. Although they were far apart, Shen Bin recognized Ye Ling at once. In his mind, Ye Ling was always strong, never dragging behind. Shen Bin guessed something must have happened, though he didn’t know why this little girl was being stubborn with him.
Ye Ling’s nose tingled as she turned her head, "Report, Instructor. I’m not feeling well today, requesting permission to return early to school."
"Where do you feel uncomfortable?" Shen Bin looked her up and down, speaking with urgency, "Ye Ling, this is only the beginning of the training. If you use this as an excuse to evade training, how will you handle surveying in deep forests later?"
"Instructor Shen, I really don’t feel well," Ye Ling felt she was being too emotional, suppressing the tears in her eyes, she met his gaze, "Instructor Shen, my period suddenly came, and I wasn’t prepared. Now my pants are stained."
Ye Ling was open about it. Though she looked straight at Shen Bin, her eyes didn’t register his expression. Since it had come to this point, with Shen Bin pressing for answers, Ye Ling admitted everything bluntly, having already embarrassed herself. And by the time she reached school, she couldn’t hide it either.
Shen Bin was momentarily stunned. Even though it was still dark, Ye Ling instinctively felt Shen Bin blushed, clearly embarrassed. Thinking of her own predicament earlier, seeing Shen Bin silent for a while gave Ye Ling a kind of indescribable satisfaction.
Ye Ling was now in no rush. Her previous anger dissipated instantly, replaced by an inexplicable coolness. She wasn’t bothered by the sensation of something still flowing down below.
In front of her, Shen Bin, after hearing Ye Ling’s words, was indeed embarrassed, his ears burning up instantly. Reflecting on Ye Ling’s reluctance to speak the truth earlier, Shen Bin finally understood the situation. But who was Shen Bin? He quickly composed himself and walked to Ye Ling’s side, scooping her into his arms horizontally before she could react.
"What are you doing?" Ye Ling was startled by Shen Bin’s move.
"Don’t move." Shen Bin was already striding forward, walking briskly.
Ye Ling tried to struggle but realized it was futile, so she had to give up, "Instructor Shen, your actions set a bad example."
"Let’s get you to a place to sort things out before dawn. If you aren’t afraid of losing face, I’ll let you down to handle it yourself." Shen Bin’s pace did not slow, hardly affecting his steady breathing as he spoke in an even tone.
Ye Ling gritted her teeth, "Since Instructor Shen doesn’t mind the influence, why should I?"
Having walked nearly two kilometers, Ye Ling was indeed exhausted. Neither spoke further. She was unaware of how Shen Bin knew there was a household halfway where they borrowed a pair of pants from the daughter and some cloth for her use. By the time they were done, daylight had fully broken.
When Ye Ling came out of the house and saw Shen Bin’s act, she immediately shouted, "Put it down."
He shot her a hard look.
Ye Ling marched over, yanking the pants Shen Bin was washing from his hands, squeezing out her words, "I’ll wash it myself."
"It’s not suitable for you to touch cold water now." Shen Bin didn’t contest for the basin, directly wringing out the already washed pants. Ye Ling, seeing his actions, was stunned in place.
This man... actually washed them.
Ye Ling didn’t know if she was blushing, but her face was so hot that she wished to dunk it in water to cool down. Looking at Shen Bin, who had already hung up the washed pants, he appeared not at all embarrassed. Ye Ling let out a couple of cold laughs; in her heart, she truly admired Shen Bin now.
