Chapter 132: Chapter 132
Bai Hehua’s words allowed everyone in the room to breathe a sigh of relief. Bai Xue promptly stood up, "Since it’s a misunderstanding, let’s just drop it. You see, they’re just kids. Don’t mind their squabbles now; when they grow up, they’ll still be close, since they grew up in the same courtyard."
"Exactly." Wang Danhong didn’t delve further, almost as if escaping, "Bai Xue, we’ll head back now then. When you have some free time, bring your niece to our place; I’ll give her a tour."
"Okay, it’s getting late, won’t keep you any longer." Bai Xue knew her eldest daughter wouldn’t be so easily appeased, wanting to send the guests away to better handle her family affairs.
Ye Ling remained silent after Ding Jie spoke, quietly watching the polite interactions in the room, observing Ding Jie’s pitiful demeanor. Ye Ling didn’t understand why she could remain so calm. As Bai Xue escorted everyone to the door, Ye Ling moved to stand in front of Ding Jie.
"You can make money if you lose it, but a black heart can’t be changed, do you know?" Ye Ling’s voice wasn’t loud, but everyone at the door could hear it.
Wang Danhong saw her daughter standing there, trying to stir up trouble, and gave her a hard pull, "Hurry up and put on your shoes."
Ye Ling was powerful; if they didn’t leave soon, who knows what commotion would ensue. Seizing the opportunity Bai Xue provided, they made their escape; staying longer could lead to unknown incidents.
Bai Xue pretended not to hear but was anxious inside, "I won’t see you out then; take your time."
Ye Ling remained silent, just watching them leave. It was indescribable whether her heart was calm or troubled, no longer caring, so why get angry?
On the way home, after parting with Ding Jie and her daughter, Wang Danhong hadn’t spoken a word. Once they were inside and the door closed, she glared at her daughter fiercely, feeling angry inside.
Song Mei hung her head, silently crying, standing at the door.
"If I hadn’t come out with work today, did you think we could leave like that? How did I give birth to such a troublesome one as you, Song Mei, I tell you too, you’re a young girl, you should think about what you should and shouldn’t say. If this happens again and I find out you’ve been gossiping, see how I’ll deal with you." Wang Danhong felt she’d never been more humiliated, and now owed the Ye Family a favor.
Back at the Ye house, the moment Bai Xue closed the door, she moved to shield her niece in her arms, as if her eldest daughter would hit her niece. Ye Ling smiled wryly; her mother really thought highly of her. Ye Ling smirked, wanting to ask why she couldn’t consider her feelings as her daughter?
Ye Ling laughed, unable to smile or cry.
Though Ye Ling just stood there motionless, she still frightened Ye Hehua, who stood there dumbly. Bai Xue didn’t care about her eldest daughter, only worriedly looking after her niece.
"Hehua, call your aunt, say something, don’t scare her." Bai Xue was frightened seeing her niece looking dazed, her body trembling; she pinched her niece’s philtrum, who then burst into tears.
Bai Xue hugged her niece, "Good girl, it’s okay, it’s okay."
Finally, the girl was okay, and Bai Xue remembered the eldest daughter who caused all this trouble. Looking up, she yelled, "You dead girl, are you trying to scare your cousin to death?"
But then staring at her daughter who just stood there with a calm, cold gaze, she couldn’t utter another word.
Ye Ling felt as if she were in an ice cave, her eyes empty of anyone, returning to the East Room like a walking corpse. When she came out again, she had an extra coat in her hand and started heading out.
"Where are you going? Stand still." Bai Xue held her niece, worried seeing her eldest daughter , "Ye Ling, I’m warning you, don’t keep threatening with running away, if you have the guts to leave, then never come back."
Ye Ling calmly stood up after putting on her shoes, turned back and said, "I’m going out for a walk, let you all have some peace."
Finishing her words, she dashed out the door.
Bai Xue was stunned for a moment, then asked her youngest daughter, "Ye Qian, what did she say she was going to do?"
Clearly frightened and unable to believe it was true.
Ye Qian was scared, "She said she’s going for a walk, letting mom have some peace."
Before the words settled, Bai Xue had already pushed her niece away, rushed out without putting on shoes, remembering her eldest daughter’s previous words to her. The outside was pitch black with no sight of her, and Bai Xue, staggering to the guard, asked, "Did you see Ye Ling go out?"
The young guard nodded, "Sister-in-law, I saw Ye Ling’s expression wasn’t right, she ran towards the east, you’d better go take a look."
Bai Xue didn’t have time to thank, rushed towards the east street, but there was no sign of anyone. Scared witless, she felt the sky falling, completely sitting down on the ground, her mind only thinking of one thing, how would she explain to her husband?
That night, no one in the courtyard slept; the adults went out searching for her, called Ye He Ping at the company, and Bai Xue seemed insane, shouting to go out and find her, as Mrs. Zhao and several older folks from the courtyard sat beside her trying to comfort her.
"In your current state, how can you look for her? Everyone in the courtyard is searching, and the child’s father has been informed. He can be back from the company soon. If something happens to you too, what will happen to this family?" Mrs. Zhao didn’t know the details, but everyone knew from the guard that Ye Ling had run away; no further explanation needed.
Definitely got chased away.
Internally, feeling Bai Xue was a bit too much as a mom, chasing her own daughter away at every whim. How could she be so biased between daughters? But seeing her in this frantic state, she also felt quite sorry for her.
"Is she trying to kill me? If something happens to her, I won’t live either." Bai Xue held her face and began crying again.
Ye Qian sat quietly at the side; usually sweet and polite, she didn’t make a sound today. Everyone understood she must have been scared when the family faced such a crisis, while Ye Hehua silently sat aside wiping tears too, looking even more pitiful with her small stature. But with such chaos at home, no one had the heart to comfort her.
