Chapter 62: Chapter 62
"Yes, yes, yes, Sixth Miss, we can assure you, no one but us entered your room!"
The servants lied without a hint of embarrassment, thinking that she, a country bumpkin who just returned from the countryside, would be easy to deceive.
Seeing their unbothered demeanor, Serena’s gaze turned completely cold, "Fine, you say no one else entered my room. I believe you."
Upon hearing this, the group of servants immediately laughed triumphantly. A country bumpkin from the countryside was fooled with just a few words!
But before they could celebrate for long, Serena’s next words made their expressions freeze instantly.
"Then the things missing from my room must have been stolen by you. You should get ready to go to the police station."
The servants hurriedly spoke up, "Sixth Miss, we didn’t steal your things, you can’t just accuse us !"
"Yes, yes, we’ve been working honestly and dutifully for the Everett Family, Sixth Miss, you can’t just accuse us casually!"
Serena lazily leaned against the wall, her long and straight legs casually bent, looking relaxed and lazy, but the chill exuding from her made one shiver.
"Didn’t you say that no one else but you entered my room? If no one else did, then who else could be the thief?" ɴᴇᴡ ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀʀᴇ ᴘᴜʙʟɪsʜᴇᴅ ᴏɴ novel·fire·net
The servants were left speechless by Serena’s retort, their faces changing. Seventh Miss clearly told them that Serena, a bumpkin from the countryside, would be the easiest to fool; as long as they kept denying, it would be fine.
But now, how could a bumpkin from the countryside have such a strong presence?
Serena’s fair fingertips tapped lightly on the table, exuding an invisible sense of oppression, "I’m not very patient. Do you want to go straight to the police station, or tell the truth?"
Each of the servants’ faces changed drastically, their earlier triumph gone, pleading as they spoke.
"Sixth Miss, we really didn’t steal your things..."
Serena, unwilling to listen to their nonsense, directly took out her phone and was about to dial the police.
The servants instantly panicked, "No, Sixth Miss! We’ll talk... we’ll talk..."
They couldn’t go to the station, otherwise, not only would they be fired by the Everett Family, but they would also never find another job!
"It was... it was Seventh Miss who went into your room while you weren’t there!"
The coldness in Serena’s eyes intensified, and she turned to head downstairs.
Downstairs, Cassia was still sweet-talking and acting cute with Jocelyn and Ivan, ignoring the fatigue in their eyes.
"Hand over the item."
Seeing the pale-faced servants following Serena, Cassia immediately realized that her theft of the jade pendant had been discovered!
But she still pretended to be clueless, speaking innocently, "Sister, what are you talking about? I don’t understand."
That jade pendant was the only token that could prove she was Old Mrs. Quinn’s savior. She still planned to use this opportunity to get close to Damian Quinn and become the Young Madam of the Quinn Family!
There was no way she could return the jade pendant!
"What happened here?" Jocelyn and Ivan stood up, asking with confusion.
"Uncle, Aunt, sister is accusing me of stealing her stuff!" Cassia spoke first, showing a grievance in front of them, "But Uncle, Aunt, I’ve been living with the Everetts since I was a child. What wouldn’t I have? How could I possibly steal my sister’s stuff?"
"Besides, sister grew up in the countryside and doesn’t have anything valuable. I simply couldn’t have stolen her stuff! I really don’t know what I did to upset her, for her to accuse me of stealing!"
Seeing this, Jocelyn and Ivan didn’t know what to do for a moment!
Although her words were a bit harsh, they made some sense. Since her parents passed away, Cassia had been raised by them, and she had always been a good and dutiful child in their eyes. They couldn’t believe she would steal!
But Serena definitely wasn’t someone who would falsely accuse others!
Both palms and backs are flesh, Jocelyn and Ivan found themselves in a difficult situation.
Seeing them , Cassia’s eyes instantly welled up with tears, a look of misunderstood grievance that tugged at one’s heartstrings.
"Sister, is it because I asked Aunt to accompany me to Starlight Entertainment for an interview tomorrow, and you’re unhappy about it? Is that why you’re accusing me?"
"Sister, I don’t want to compete with you for Aunt’s love. There’s no need for you to be so defensive against me... going so far as to use such despicable means to accuse me..."
Seeing Cassia twisting the facts, Serena’s beautiful fox-like eyes grew even colder, "Are you sure you didn’t take the jade pendant?"
Cassia suppressed the guilt in her heart, speaking meekly and aggrievedly, "Of course, if I stole your stuff, sister, I’d be hit by a car..."
Before she could finish speaking, Serena swiftly reached out and took the jade pendant from her pocket.
"What else is there to say now?"
Cassia’s fleeting guilty glance at her pocket didn’t escape Serena’s notice. People’s instinctive reactions when feeling guilty can’t lie.
Seeing the jade pendant fall from her pocket, Cassia’s face changed instantly as she silently cursed her blunder!
"Cassia, you really stole Serena’s stuff..."
Meeting Jocelyn and Ivan’s shocked and disappointed gazes, Cassia panicked. Her greatest support in this family was them. If they didn’t like her anymore, she wouldn’t be able to get anything from them in the future...
All because of Serena, that bitch, who ruined her good and well-behaved image in their eyes!!!
Cassia hated Serena deeply in her heart, but outwardly she cried pitifully, looking like a pear blossom in the rain.
"Uncle, Aunt, I’m sorry. I just liked the jade pendant so much that I acted on an impulse!"
The evidence was clear. Even though she didn’t want to admit it, she had no choice but to confess!
Jocelyn and Ivan’s eyes were filled with evident disappointment. But after all, she was the child they’d raised for so many years, and seeing her cry so pitifully, they couldn’t help but soften.
"The one you should apologize to isn’t us; you should say sorry to Serena!"
Cassia’s eyes instantly filled with more resentment. Apologizing to Serena felt worse than death to her!
She only took a jade pendant from Serena. Was it necessary for them to help Serena humiliate her ?
They said she and Serena were the same in their hearts, but in the end, they were biased against their biological daughter?!
