Chapter 291: Chapter 291
"Miss Crystal, it’s getting late. You should rest early. I won’t bother you anymore," Silas said softly, looking at her tenderly.
"Alright, you should rest early too, Silas."
As the door closed, the smile on Crystal Joyce’s face faded. She tossed the kitten in her arms away, obviously disgusted to the extreme by it.
The kitten was thrown heavily to the ground and cried out in pain.
An evil glint flashed in Crystal Joyce’s eyes, and the previously pure and harmless demeanor vanished completely.
"I don’t even know where this dirty thing was picked up from, and you give it to me?"
The little orange cat was so scared it didn’t dare make a sound. It curled up in the corner, trembling and staring at her.
With a sneer, Crystal Joyce picked up the kitten and squeezed its neck hard, venting all her anger on the little orange cat.
She had carefully planned everything flawlessly, first incrementally increasing Eleanor Linden’s hatred towards Serena.
The gang of thugs who humiliated Eleanor was also hired by her. She specifically had them tell Eleanor that a beautiful woman had instructed them, misleading Eleanor into thinking Serena was behind it and deepening her hatred for Serena.
Then she used a voice changer to imitate Silas’s voice and called her, lured her into poisoning Serena. If successful, Serena would be easily eliminated.
But if the plan failed, that fool Eleanor would never suspect her, allowing Silas to take the fall in her place, making it impossible to trace back to her.
But who would’ve thought that Serena wouldn’t follow her plan? She had clearly directed all evidence towards Silas, and what surprised her the most was that Serena knew hacking.
She found out that the number didn’t belong to Celestia, which completely blocked the path of having Silas take the fall, and letting Serena continue to investigate could potentially trace back to her.
Therefore, Serena must be eliminated as soon as possible!
Crystal Joyce’s innocent and clear doe eyes surfaced with a malice that was completely at odds with her appearance. She took out her phone and dialed a familiar number.
The call was quickly connected, and Crystal Joyce’s expression changed. With utmost respect, she reported to the person on the other end.
"Master, Serena has left Imperia. If we make a move before she returns, our chances of success are very high."
After a long while, a cold male voice came from the other end of the line.
"Alright, do as you say, make your move when she returns to Imperia."
Upon hearing this, Crystal Joyce’s lips immediately curved up. She lifted her hand to brush her hair, and as her loose sleeve slid down her arm, it revealed a star-shaped mark...
The car steadily stopped at the entrance of the military base, the entire entrance heavily guarded, radiating an unapproachable aura of authority.
Steven Everett was already waiting at the entrance, just so that at the moment his precious little sister got out of the car, she would see him first.
Serena called out sweetly, "Second brother."
Such a sweet, adorable little sister!
Steven Everett walked over to her with large strides and gave her a big hug, "Serena, even though it’s only been a few days, second brother really missed you!"
Serena’s heart warmed, and she curved her rosy lips, "Second brother, but now you’ve seen me, haven’t you?"
"Yes, yes, I finally get to see you again, Serena!" Only then did Steven Everett release her, his voice full of unconcealed joy, "It’s late, Serena, you should rest first."
Seeing the tired expression on his beloved sister’s face, Steven Everett felt a deep ache in his heart.
"It’s okay, second brother." But Serena shook her head and refused, "Take me to the security center."
This is related to Celestia’s military secrets, which are of utmost importance and need to be resolved quickly.
Steven Everett felt even more touched, clearly proud of his sister—she has such a grand vision!
"Alright, I’ll take you there now!"
Steven Everett didn’t persist, leading Serena smoothly to the security center.
The guard at the door greeted Steven Everett with respectful salutes.
Steven Everett nodded in response, unable to resist showing off a bit.
"This is my sister—cute and sweet, right?"
He wished he could let the whole world know he had such an outstanding, sweet, and adorable little sister!
Guard: "...Very sweet and cute, but wasn’t Colonel Everett supposed to bring Lord Moros?"
"Mm, that’s exactly who I brought!" Steven Everett’s voice grew even more proud.
The guard was first puzzled, then realized, and finally widened his eyes in disbelief.
"Major, your sister is the famous Lord of the Underworld—Lord Moros?!"
"Yes!" Steven Everett nodded immediately, raising his chin with great pride. "Isn’t my sister incredible!"
"Amazing, absolutely amazing!"
The guard’s eyes on Serena changed instantly. Who would’ve thought that the famous Lord of the Underworld, Lord Moros, was such a young girl!
Watching this scene, the team members behind Steven Everett couldn’t hold back a few chuckles.
Clicking their tongues, their captain has turned into a proud sister show-off! But who can blame the captain—to have such an exceptional, talented, and powerful sister, they’d definitely show off more than Steven Everett!
"Alright, second brother, let’s go in."
Serena spoke up, looking a bit helplessly at Steven Everett.
"Right, right, business comes first!"
Steven Everett suppressed his joy, stopped dawdling, and led Serena into the security center.
It was already deep into the night, yet the security center was still brightly lit, bustling with activity.
"Serena, that’s Director Churchill, the newly appointed person in charge of the security center."
Steven Everett introduced Serenaly putting on a warm voice—for others stern, yet full of tenderness for his precious sister.
Director Churchill strode over to Steven Everett, greeted him, and then focused on Serena beside him, frowning in displeasure.
"The security center is a military area; unauthorized individuals cannot enter! I don’t care how you got in here—leave immediately!"
Serena’s exquisite eyebrows arched lazily, her tone lazy but her words irritating enough to make anyone’s face turn iron gray.
"Who are you calling authoritative?"
Iris Churchill naturally didn’t want such a label placed on her, so she scolded with a nasty face.
"So young and already good at slandering others—really shows no upbringing!"
Serena’s red lips curled coolly and she replied without hesitation.
"Not checking identities and arbitrarily expelling people—if that’s not being authoritative, it’s your ingrained arrogance."
"You... sharp-tongued!" Iris Churchill was suddenly enraged, "Hurry up and get out!"
"Director Churchill!"
Seeing her trying to expel Serena without any reason, Steven Everett’s expression darkened as he looked on in dissatisfaction.
