Chapter 248: Chapter 248
Early the next morning.
Nancy slowly opened her eyes and moved her body slightly. She wasn’t fully awake yet when she suddenly realized there were a man’s hands around her waist, startling her wide awake.
But when she saw the person holding her was Elliot, Nancy first breathed a sigh of relief, but her face turned pale the next second.
How did this happen?!
Nancy only felt sore all over, and the events of yesterday slowly resurfaced in her mind.
"Ugh... I need you to help me..."
Recalling what happened last night, Nancy’s face flushed crimson. She was so embarrassed she wished she could find a hole to crawl into. She shouldn’t have agreed with Miles to attend the banquet yesterday; then this wouldn’t have happened!
Elliot had been awake for a while, but he didn’t get up due to the warmth he was enjoying in his arms.
He subconsciously raised his hand to touch Nancy’s head, recalling the madness of last night, his dark eyes full of distress.
"Does it still hurt?"
Nancy’s pretty little face turned from pale to red, glaring at him with embarrassment and anger.
Seeing her angry, Elliot suddenly became flustered and carefully watched her, speaking sincerely.
"Nancy, I’ll take responsibility for what happened yesterday..."
Elliot’s words were cut short by Nancy’s cold interruption, "We both know what happened was an accident, so let’s not mention it again."
She didn’t want him to be with her just because he felt responsible for what happened yesterday!
Elliot couldn’t understand why she looked even angrier. Nancy ignored him, quickly picking up clothes off the floor and putting them on. She then lifted her charming little face and smiled sweetly at him, but her words were incredibly hurtful.
"Elliot, don’t worry, I’m not interested in older men like you."
Upon hearing this, Elliot’s dark eyes narrowed dangerously, and the surrounding air instantly turned cold.
Nancy was somewhat afraid, but she still forced herself to speak boldly, "Let’s pretend we don’t know each other from now on!"
Elliot’s rage made his temple twitch, and his molars almost ground to dust. Are girls nowadays that irresponsible?
She slept with him, disliked him for being older, and now wants to pretend they don’t know each other!
Nancy could feel the anger emanating from the man, though she was puzzled, she instinctually opted to flee.
"That’s it. From now on, we don’t know each other, and there’s nothing between us!"
Throwing those words, Nancy endured her soreness and ran out of the room.
Elliot instinctively got up to chase her, but only realized he wasn’t wearing anything when he lifted the blanket. By the time he picked up the clothes scattered all over the floor, Nancy had already run far away.
Fifteen minutes later, Elliot walked out of the room, fully dressed.
The assistant was respectfully waiting at the door, involuntarily shivering when he saw Elliot radiating low pressure.
"President Everett..."
Elliot’s handsome face was shrouded in a heavy aura of hostility, chilling to the core.
"Find out who drugged the champagne last night."
The assistant immediately responded respectfully, "Yes, President Everett!"
It’s the weekend today, Jocelyn and Ivan, being considerate of Serena, ensured no one disturbed her rest.
When Nancy’s call came through, Serena had just awakened, still sleepy-eyed but stunningly beautiful.
"Wuwuwu Serena, I slept with your brother..."
Once she left the hotel, Nancy instantly lost the bravado she had in front of Elliot, like a deflated ball.
Serena was shocked for a second, then calmly spoke, "Congratulations, congrats."
She had already guessed that Nancy liked her brother, and her brother treated Nancy differently too, so Nancy being her sister-in-law was fine!
"What’s there to congratulate!"
Over the phone, Nancy was about to cry.
"Serena, your brother already has a girlfriend, so I’m indirectly a mistress. Although I was drugged, no matter how you put it, this happened!"
Serena frowned, "Who told you my brother has a girlfriend?"
Adepressed voice came from the other end.
"I went to the company yesterday to confess to him, but saw him being intimate with a woman. The employees were saying he has a girlfriend!"
"Nancy, don’t believe those outside rumors." Serena comforted her gently, her tone especially firm, "My brother doesn’t have a girlfriend."
On the other end, Nancy let out a surprised gasp, the previous sadness and grief swept away, a radiant smile involuntarily appeared on her face.
"If he doesn’t have a girlfriend, then I still have a chance!"
But before Nancy could be happy for long, she remembered the things she said to Elliot at the hotel, and her smile froze instantly.
Oh no, oh no, she just called Elliot an old man and said they wouldn’t know each other from now on...
"Nancy, my brother just messaged asking if I knew where you were; he’s very worried about you."
Hearing Serena’s voice, Nancy snapped out of it and quickly replied, "Serena, don’t tell him! Let him worry a bit first!"
"We can’t let him think I’m easily obtainable; isn’t there a saying that easily acquired things aren’t cherished!"
Once she finished, Nancy immediately acted coy, "Serena, you’re definitely on my side, right!"
"Hmm." Thıs text ıs hosted at novel⟡fire.net
Serena nodded, unable to resist her friend’s adorable pleading, so she could only betray her brother.
After hanging up, Serena washed up and headed downstairs, where the servants immediately brought out the breakfast that had been kept warm in the kitchen.
After breakfast, Serena planned to visit the research institute, but she received a call from Gael just as she reached the door.
"Sister-in-law, help..."
Hearing the loud and exaggerated voice on the call, Serena’s delicate brows lazily arched, her tone quite casual, "What’s going on?"
"Wuwuwu sister-in-law, can you... cough cough cough..." Gael felt too embarrassed to continue, feeling shameful.
Serena’s patience was limited, "Just say what you need, stop dawdling."
On the other end, Gael cleared his throat and spoke thick-skinnedly, "Uh, uh, well, sister-in-law, could you lend me some money... I’ll repay you as soon as I have money!"
"Three billion!" Gael promptly responded, sounding as fawning as possible, "Sister-in-law, I knew you’d be the best, definitely wouldn’t leave me in the lurch..."
