Chapter 5: Chapter 5
I see an open spot driving to it, carefully parking my lexus rx350 2019 model I got for my last year birthday gifted to me by mom and dad. Once parked, I let my head fall to the steering wheel gripping it tightly feeling all groggy and shit. Austin’s whisperings and callings kept me up most part of the night even if I can’t remember what he said but I definitely did remember a faint goodnight as sleep lured me in once again. A knock on my window got me groaning at the sight of my Bestie all happy. Is there ever a day she's not smiling? She use her index to signify I let down my window, I pressed a button doing so. Resting her hands while propping her chin on one smiling.
“So are you going to sit here in your car all day or are you coming to class?” She looks inside searching. “Hey! You brought lunch! Dibs on first bite.” I eyed her opening my door, I step out locking my car.
“You don’t get to call dibs on my food Bailey.” Her face twist into a frown.
“Why not?” Is that a trick question or what?
“Why not? Hmm let me see because it’s my food and I’m not sharing it with you.” Straight up fact. Who call dibs on someone’s lunch? Obviously, BAILEY MORGAN aka the Bestie.
“Ha! You so funny and such a cutie.” This time she succeeded in squeezing my cheeks. What’s with this girl and my cheeks?
“I’ll hurt you.” I glare at her.
“No you won’t.” she smiles cheekily and we kept walking to our lockers.
“What’s with the escape character from the walking dead series? Couldn’t get enough beauty sleep last night?” She opens her locker right besides mine. I get closer to her not wanting the loitered hallway filled with students to hear me.
“Austin wouldn’t let me sleep. He kept me up all night.” I whisper in an aggravated tone.
“Omg! Omg! You and Austin…” her two index joins together which I didn’t get at first looking at her face in confusion till it finally hit me. A heavy blush which I’m sure extended to my nether parts that can’t be seen heat me up.
“No! No! No! That’s not it! And will never be it.” I whisper yell, frantically shaking my head. She laughs out closing her locker.
“But you want it to be it.” Her brows raise in amusement.
“Ugh, what is wrong with you?” She laughs again, looks behind me then smiles.
“Well it looks like we’re about to find out.” I turn, Austin walking towards us with a mischievous grin plastered on his face.
“Oh no!” I quickly turn back only to see Bailey’s eyes darting between the both of us smiling stupid. “Stop smiling.” I gritted out. “Help me.” I plea.
“How? Squeeze you inside your locker or make you disappear which I tell you I’m no witch. I may look like one but I’m not one.” What? My head tilt looking at her in a crazy way.
“Besides he has seen you already, no need trying to do what you want to do; also It’s been so long I saw a good drama in this school, quite boring don’t you think?” Her lips quirks up amusedly.
“I hate you.” Seeing him drawing closer to us.
“You know, you should try and mean that someday.” She says jokingly with a grin now resting on her locker. About to throw a smart comeback, she cut me off.
“Oh hey Austin!” what?!
“Hey Bailey.” He slides tossing his hand on her shoulders while I look anywhere else but two increasingly annoying fellows that have this penetrating gaze at me with amused grins on their faces.
“Mary-Vienne.” My name falls smoothly from his lips and I tried not to look flustered or worst purr. His smirk grows wider as I glare at him.
“What do you want Austin?” I bark out.
“Feisty. I like that.” He grin trailing his eyes down my body, consciously I drag my skirt down praying my color don’t feel heated like my insides are.
“You seem to ask that question frequently, maybe I’ll just have to try my luck and tell you what I want. I just hope you give it to me or I’ll just have to steal it.” Looking at him, you’ll thinking he’s joking with that cocky grin on his face but no, it’s his eyes, they say the eyes are the windows to the soul, his eyes only tell if he’s serious or not and the way he stares down at me heatedly, I know he means it.
Trailing my eyes to his tall physique, instead of his captivating eyes and masculine scent slowly intoxicating me into his trance I say frustrated.
“Go away, Austin. I’m mad at you.” My eyes shifts to Bailey who just stood there clearly enjoying our bickering looking all happy like she just won a trip to JB private villa. I really can’t with this girl.
“Ouch.” He feigns hurt holding a hand to his heart. “Do you want me to apologize?” He removes his hand from Bailey’s shoulders taking a step to me, and another, till we are almost touching. My face inches away from his strong broad chest and he staring down at me with his eyes twinkling. If I could just rise up a little I’ll be able to kiss him, like a full blown kiss on his pink pouty lips which I’m guessing is super soft. I wonder what he tastes like?
I suddenly felt my lips dry. Don’t lick your lips. Don’t lick your lips. Don’t you dare lick your lips?
Shit! You just lick your lips. His eyes darken trained solely on my face, sorry my lips and I did it again, stupidly. Slowly my gaze shifts to the almost silent hallway, most students around us seem to stop whatever they were doing looking at us now, waiting, for something, anything. Their captain and the nerd in a heated stare down. I gulp looking up at Austin whose electrifying gaze didn’t shift from mine. I think I look scared, frightened and mostly turned on.
“Austin.” It came out in a husky whisper making his eyes go darker. He blinks, once, twice as if struggling with himself.
“Next time, Snoopy.” He says before striding away from me without turning back, my eyes lock on his retreating form as students cleared way for him like a god he is, whispering.
“Jeez! That’s was one hot sexual attraction and tension. Yikes!” Bailey squeals fanning herself with her hand dreamily snapping me out of my little trance. She squeals again making a kissing face and I fake disgust.
“Oh my god!” She says suddenly like she got a mind blowing idea. “This is it!”
“This is what?” I ask confused making her roll her eyes at me.
“Duh. The beginning of a romantic love story. You and Austin.” Saying pointedly but dreamily
as if I’m dumb squishing her cheeks.
Laughing humorlessly. “No, I think you got that wrong. This is the beginning of a horrible senior year.” She tsked looking at me in a serious scowl.
“Just wait and see Whyte. Just wait and see.” She walks away smiling and I’m left standing in front of my locker looking all shades of confuse.
What does she mean by that? Is there something I should know she's not telling me?
